diddy (DayZ) 16 Posted September 25, 2012 Is there now an invisible wall when the grass runs out on chernarus? I was flying a cheli and was flying where I have many times before looking for camps. As soon as I got to the edge where the grass ends it shows me out of the helicopter floating in the air then I die. Then I walk back over to loot my body, and i touched the line while walking and died again.
voddler (DayZ) 367 Posted September 25, 2012 I've never experienced that myself, though it sounds interesting... Was it a private hive?
diddy (DayZ) 16 Posted September 25, 2012 it was a private hive on vilayer
SmashT 10907 Posted September 25, 2012 It's something added on that private hive, doesn't exist on the official hive.

Toastedzen 80 Posted September 25, 2012 Likely it was set up that way by the server host. Here is a hint: Don't leave the map. On our Private hive someone was saving a heli off the map in debug forest. Guess what happened? No more heli, no more camp.
DemonGroover 8836 Posted September 25, 2012 Would be cool if the wall wasnt invisble and we are all in the Truman Show.

waffen-79 32 Posted September 25, 2012 the more reason to make cherno plus an island, they have time to make it congruent, retouch the coasts, etc.but they won't listen, same with:ragdoll or euphoriafauna (for hunting)customizations (morphs, clothes, weapons)melee (directional, blocking, attacking)apparently they don't like money

mibz0r 141 Posted September 25, 2012 I'm all for the wall being there but killing players for going past (or trying to) is ridiculous and bordering on admin abuse, I'd be pretty pissed if I had a geared character hunting camps on the edge of the map and I just happened to die because I strayed over that line. dallas 5195 Posted September 25, 2012 (edited) They must have placed a setDamage 1 trigger on the edge of the map.I think it's fair to allow vehicles and tents to get deleted after an hout outside the map, but this seems a little excessive. Stay off the edge of the map.
mibz0r 141 Posted September 25, 2012 Because something outside of the admins control is obviously admin abuse. Its not out of the admins control as far as I know an Admin would have to set this up it doesn't just automatically set itself, I did say "bordering on" which means not exactly but close. Not us.

They should just change the map into an Island. This solves all the issues of out of bounds in one step. It also then creates more places to build other northern cities, to encourage players to move away from the starter coasts.Personally, I'd have it one big island with starter beaches all around the coast then have the good stuff toward the center much like Utes.As for the other stuff, you have to understand, very little out side of custom code was used to create DayZ. Most of what we play on comes from ARMA II. This isn't like a full conversion mod of another game like say how Counter Strike was a full conversion of Half Life. This is more or less like the old scool zombie mod for Counter Strike, when the game wasn't changed just a few things added with changes to the gameplay to create the mod. This is why I laugh at people that love to say it's ok about the bugs because it's "ALPHA". Well guess what people ARMA II is not ALPHA and most of the bugs we have are from the core of ARMA II. Edited September 25, 2012 by crockett

If there's 4 different coasts to start from...Could lead to some awesome fighting further inland... hell maybe the coast would be safer than the interior for once.
