Molotovs idea

Recommended Posts

Well had this idea the other night and I'm not sure if someone has posted this.

The idea was about molotovs and how to create them.

Was thinking of 4 steps for making it.

1.Empty glass whisky bottle

2.Jerry can (can fill many whisky bottles)

3.A bandage (for the fuse)

4. Matches (to light it)

Would be great to block areas from zombies while u loot, instead of dumb wire fences and it would burn out after some time.

Plus setting people/zombies on fire would be great fun!

I like fire :)

Been suggested tonnes of times and I think I read Rocket had already done some work on it but can't find the quote so don't quote me on that.

Sure, because my legs are broken, I'm bleeding out of more holes I knew I had, I have a fever and an infection, rotting away from hunger and thirst, why not just set me on fire, too? D:

Hehe, but really, I think it'd be pretty neat.

Lol I get where ur coming from!

Wouldn't like to think it's an intsa death thing but it would work great for tactical play if they included smoke with the fire. (blocking sniper views with the smoke ect)

As for zombies they will die after 10secs or more and there eyes will be burnt out and other senses.

Just a stoned idea I had cuz there's so many whisky bottles about!

It is a good idea don't get me wrong but only 10 seconds... im sure the Zed's would happily chase you about for a good couple of minutes, i mean i couldn't think of a funnier site whilst on sniper hill, 10 or so flaming, smoking Zed's chasing some poor sod about....

I really hate the whole tonnes and ton thing. As the so called dominate species you wouldn't think we could be so hopelessly inane. Ton and tonnes is the 'thing' that shits me like the grammar nazis and their whole your you're thing when they want to be grammatically correct. ..fucking internet , bet you they did not care before the late 90's about that, but anyway. The your you're thing at least makes sense ..the ton tonne thing just pisses me off :) I mean the ton/tonne changed halfway through my schooling and ton was already imbedded in my skull..you just cannot go..'oh no it is Tonne now, not Ton' I mean look at the wiki entry of it..what a mess...

The ton is a unit of measure. It has a long history and has acquired a number of meanings and uses over the years. It is used principally as a unit of weight, and as a unit of volume. It can also be used as a measure of energy, for truck classification, or as a colloquial term.

It is derived from the tun, the term applied to a barrel of the largest size. This could contain a volume between 210 and 256 gallons(800 to 1000 L), which could weigh around 2,000 pounds (900 kg) and occupy some 60 cubic feet (1.7 m3) of space.

In the United Kingdom the ton is defined as 2,240 pounds (1,016 kg) (avoirdupois pounds ) From 1965 the UK embarked upon a programme of metrification and gradually introduced metric units, including the tonne (metric ton), a non-SI metric unit defined as 1000 kg. The UK weights and measures act of 1985 explicitly excluded from use for trade many units and terms, including the ton and the term "metric ton" for "tonne"

In the United States and Canada a ton is defined to be 2,000 pounds (907 kg).

Where confusion is possible, the 2240 lb ton is called "long ton" and the 2000 lb ton "short ton"; the tonne is distinguished by its spelling, but usually pronounced the same as ton, hence the US term "metric ton". In the UK the final "e" of "tonne" is pronounced (/ˈtʌnɪ/), or "metric ton" when it is necessary to make the distinction.

Where accuracy is required the correct term must be used, but for many purposes this is not necessary: the metric and long tons differ by only 1.6%, and the short ton is within 11% of both. The ton is the heaviest unit of weight referred to in colloquial speech.

The term "ton" is also used to refer to a number of units of volume, ranging from 35 to 100 cubic feet (0.99 to 2.8 m3) in capacity.

It can also be used as a unit of energy, expressed as an equivalent of coal burnt, tnt detonated, or in refrigeration, ice melted.

In Britain ton is used in slang in several contexts to mean "100". As a cost or a speed, a ton is widely understood to be £100 or 100 mph.

So what the fuck really is a ton or a tonne? A barrel that holds 800-1000l , which may or may not be 1600 or 2000lbs...or 2240lbs. Or 1000kg. Which is 2000lbs, apparently. Which in the US is 907kgs. And Canada.

Let me sum it up by quoting the source itself where confusion is possible.

Molotovs will eventually show up in the game. Might be in the mod or the SA version. All I know is that Rocket already has it in the code. Can't wait for it.

I think that's a cool way do use them but looking at the code it just seemed like a ready made weapon to use. I like your idea better.

Can not wait to trap some poor survivors in a burning building whilst my group laughs like sociopaths at their pain.

But seriously it would be great to have this ability to burn somebody out of a building so you could engage them, it would also be awesome if it messed up their night vision in the process. Nothing worse than cornering someone in a building when you do not have explosives to get them out, you never know if the guy just aborted or is he patiently waiting aiming at the entrance. That is why I always need satchel charges, nothing funnier than engaging someone on direct chat and having them confidently say there is no way you can get into the building and telling them right before you touch off the charge what is about to happen.

I have fantasied about molotovs since the the day, dayZ was released.. shit damn i hope they are in the SA straight away.. maybe burning things is difficult in the arma engine without lag.. who knows..

But i hope when we can use them after being crafted etc that they take a few seconds to actually use.. to imitate grabbing your matches/lighter and lighting the rag then throwing the bottle.. this way they cant exactly be used in haste and requires a level of coordination to be effective..

thas me ^_^
