If you could change one thing about DayZ, what would it be?

Remove dupe bug and reduce chance of as50/m107/L85 spawn even more so more people can go around the cities for loot not just going to their camp and getting full gear for 5 min

One thing I would change about DayZ is the PVP "end game" focus and make it more of a survival based game.

Personally, I don't find hunting players fun. There's nothing wrong with that playstyle, of course. It's just that what I enjoy most in this game is exploring towns and scavenging for supplies - all the while having a constant fear and paranoia that just across the street there might be another player. But the problem is you only experience this when you're a fresh character. There's just no need to go back into towns again unless you're looking for the military grade gear. Why? Because after looting one or two towns you have enough food and supplies to last you for days and days.

How you would do this? I'm not sure. Perhaps make food and supplies rarer? Perhaps add more zombies in towns so you can't just sweep a place in one pass?

I see this here on these forums. I call bullshit! If you can fire any gun at all, you can fire any military rifle. They are made so any joker can use them.

As for the rarity we are in a war torn country.

Not really, and a lot of these guns after being used would need some major cleaning or they wouldn't work at all. Do you know how to clean a bolt properly?

Actually I do, it isn't a difficult task. Anyone can do it, I've been doing it since a was a youngster. I can even a disassemble trigger mechanism and replace a broken spring. This stuff isn't rocket surgery. Just pay attention to what you are doing and put it back together the way it came apart.

You seem to think EVERYONE grew up like you. The weaker people wouldn't survive long enough to probably find a gun like that but I would find it hard to believe everyone could handle a SAW or some kind of assault rifle.

Ok fine, but I believe those who are survivors could. Sure not everyone can handle a lmg or a .50 cal but alot could. Anyone can handle a mp5, fn fal, m4, or ak tho, shit children in Africa handle these guns with some effectiveness.

Now once the dupes and hacks are settles (standalone) these guns along with the big boys will be alot rarer. Just enjoy the chaos in these dreadlord days, soon enough you'll wax nostalgia about them in bittersweet remembrance.

I think a 1866 would be more of a task to clean/repair then any modern day military rifle.

Without a doubt

Take the 249 SAW the Brit version of that stripping and assembly is tought to newbie recruits in a single lesson, as to cleaning well that doesnt take the brains of a bishop, GPMG (240) and L85A2 stripping and assembly are all also single lessons, its really not hard the weapons are designed to be as simple as possible to strip down....... Its actually more difficult to figure out how to strip down a Lee Enfield bolt (still not hard) than it is to take down most modern weapons.

I know itz coming but get the single player out, and get rid of the 50cal snipers and the Thermal Scopes, Make a larger Backpack and add more spawns for the Dirt Bike, I have found hundreds of ATV's but not one Dirt Bike - Not that I dont love the game as is ( I do ) - But I would like to see the above

Crashed helicopters would only drop assault rifles and M24 and DMR sniper rifles, 50cals would be barrack spawns

Zombie spawning. After the server restart zombies spawn first normally when someone runs to the invisible spawn area. But after that if a zombie is killed it respawns on Mountain and starts to walk back to where it was killed. If it notices victims during it's walk then it starts to hunt those.

Result:

- Zombies can be cleaned from certain areas until the server restarts or zombie comes back from Mountain

- People can make bases in towns, factories etc. like they do in zombie movies. It is not so difficult to clear the place once after the server restart

- There will be zombies in forests

Maybe I've just never seen it mentioned before, but technical considerations aside this may be the best idea I've seen for this game.

As things I want have already been mentioned (better zombies, wild animals, better physics etc) I will say that we should have to work a bit harder for loot. Ok in shops stuff would probably be strewn on the ground but stuff should also be on shelves or in boxes that would need broken open. In houses they could be in cupboards or drawers (which may make noise when opening) really good loot might be in locked cases/rooms needing a bit of force with a melee weapon to open, prized open with a crowbar or even some kind of way of picking the lock. Basically anything that will add time and noise to your looting. I would also like to see more mess and the ability to make more mess, especially shops/civilian areas.

Have to say I adore the green mountain idea. I usually don't think the player base should make design choices, but this one is special.

Better hacking protection.

Some kind of "super zed" spawn aka really hard to kill.

More civilian weapons.

Much lower droprate for military weapons.

Roaming hordes of zeds.

Better ability to build a camp.

More different skins (kinda tired of the banditskin)

Every server should be forced to making Chernarus a winter map during the winter IRL

It would be soo awesome to follow people in their footprints that they've left in the snow !! ;D

Some of these have been posted already, but one of the following, the last three going together as one feature.

More melee weapons.

Much more loot variety (Soviet Era weapons, anyone?)

Physics Engine

Hacks/Skiddies banned forever, never to return.

Better optimization.

Weapon modification. (Optics, barrels, ects could be very rare military spawns)

Different ammo types, and finding loose ammo instead of magazines, (But also finding empty mags) then loading mags with that ammo. (Example lead ball, AP, API, tracers, ect.)

Weapon wear. (Over thousands of rounds guns could deteriote slightly. Most would spawn in mid-condition, with a pristine gun being a prized find.)

Guns jamming. (Could go with weapon wear, only happens every few hundred or thousand rounds, depending on gun and condition.)

Gun cleaning. (Lessens weapon wear rate and jam rate if gun is clean. Would have to find gun cleaning supplies to clean.)

I'd be happy to see any of these in the game, but the last three of course would hopefully go together.

Respawn at a user chosen location. Everything else is bollocks and just a massive waste of time. And no, Rocket cannot force how I will play that game.
