*RADIO TRANSMISSION*

Recommended Posts

You are in your tent, resting peacefully... Until your radio crackles to life, the loud static startles you, and you scramble to turn the dial to lower the volume... A voice is heard in the radio. You begin to isolate the frequency, clearing up all the static, and it was a success... The message continues to play out...

"This is Leftenant Daniel Moore of the British Armed Forces, to whomever may be listening, you are NOT alone."

You continue to listen closely, and you crawl out of your tent and look to the campfire you started several hours ago, nothing but embers remain. You pull out a match and light it up against it's package, and throw it into the remnants of the wood, reigniting the fire. You wake your other companions, and alert them to what is happening. They spring up, obviously interested in what is being transmitted.

"Those of you that are alive, PLEASE make your way to Green Mountain, we have secured the area of the infected and are maintaining a safe zone around the entire mountain. We have sheltered more than a hundred survivors, and our forces are about a hundred strong."

Your friends begin to look at each other, they seem as if it was their birthday today, they holler and laugh. You, however, ignore the hollering and continue to listen closely.

"Bring whatever you can, we need supplies to maintain our current population!"

You look to the stash at your vehicle, as well as the supplies you have around you...

"This is Leftenant Daniel Moore... Signing off."

The transmission ends, and you and your friends look at each other, without even uttering a single word, they knew what they needed to do next. You and your group pack your belongings, loading them into your vehicle. You open the door to the driver's seat, and settle in. Pulling out your key, you insert it into the ignition, and turn the key. The vehicle starts up, and you begin driving towards Green Mountain.

I have made this post to rekindle the fire in our hearts and to give us survivors purpose. This is what Day Z could turn up into if focused on the aspects of role playing and making our own stories. Not just going around looking for loot and people to kill. Like Rocket said... This is YOUR story.

(Just a little thing... I really hope that the Day Z development team fully implements a radio system into the stand-alone, it'd make things a lot more interesting.)

Thanks for reading, and keep on surviving, brothers and sisters! (I have posted this before, but I actually prefer posting on this section so that more people can see...)

This isn't really meant to be a suggestion, but it would be interesting.

Yes, this is exactly the kind of thing that is needed to add substance to Day Z.

But we all know what would happen at the accursed Green Mountain.

This post actually sets the basis for the clan I am going to be forming. The British Armed Forces. We're planning to create a LARGE force to take over a specific area, such as Green Mountain or Devil's Castle. Imagine this... Green Mountain, a safe haven, marksmen in the deerstands, checkpoints, barricades, military vehicles, and constant player interaction. Convoys that are sent out into the map to round up survivors, hunt bandits, and gather supplies to maintain their population. What you may call a light shining in the darkness.

Then as you get there, you hear shots ring out. Your vehicle gives out, your friends die, and as your life slowly fades; you see a squad of multinational troops heading towards your vehicle. They pull you out of your vehicle to the ground and begin dragging you and your companions to a burning pile of bodies. The soldiers strip you of your gear, throw you into the burning pile. Meanwhile they are taking your vehicle, stripping it down and taking the supplies inside.

And right before you take your final dying breaths you notice off in the distance, another set of headlights, seeming eager to join this rumored refuge.

Nice reply, but my clan won't exactly be that way... It would be interesting if something such as that happened.

If you want a bit of story as to why British Soldiers would be in Chernarus, here's one.

During the early stages of the infection, several countries sent troops to help evacuate the healthy, and quarantine those that have been exposed. The United States, United Kingdom, and several other countries that are a part of NATO and the UN. It was a complete failure, however... The infection spread around the entire world, and the forces are scattered. Remnants of the British Armed Forces decided to try to bring some order and designate Green Mountain as their base of operations.

Myself and a buddy with an L85 would come and take your out marksmen while they are sitting in there deerstands... You cant lock down an area in this game.. One Script kiddie catches wind of your fortress and thunderdomes you all..... Guess you lost your fortress.

Unfortunately you cant claim areas for yourself and expect people to abide by your rules. One "friendly" comes into your camp and starts satchel charging your vehicles/sniping "civilians.

bad idea that could never be anything more then an fantasy

I was going to spam a negative post about hackers but there's no point. I hope the standalone will have interesting events like this. At the very least, we'll be able to do stuff like this when they open up the mod to the community.

I got the Mk12 SPR from a tent and all that other gear not supposed to be in DayZ... Rocket DID state that you can use hacked items from tents you found, and you can trade them. The Mk12 is basically a M16 outfitted into a DMR, uses Stanag Mags, telescopic sight, no zeroing, and semi-auto only. It's not an overpowered choice at all.

It sounds alright, the only hacked gun I REALLY want is the AA-12, but I've never even seen one in DayZ. Anyhow, you wouldn't have a spare Mk12 laying around would you?

First of all, I'm talking about Standalone. Hackers would get us, yes. If you guys came with your L85A2 AWS and all, you'd still get downed. If you tried picking us off from a distance, it'd be tricky because of the 5.56 NATO rounds, and also, our snipers would be paired with those with Thermal Sights, to look around as well. (We got a few OLD AS50 TWS's from back in the day when they were around and a lot of L85A2 AWS's) Also, our forces would be alerted to your presence, and we'd gun you down quickly, due to the fact that your weapon would not be silenced. Plus, 2 versus 50+ people... Yeah, you're gonna get us alright. (And the area surrounding Green Mountain is nothing but open fields...) Also, if some dickwad with satchel charges came near us, and started planting atleast one, we'd gun him down on the spot.

We have a couple other weapons that were hacked into the game by some script kiddie that owned the camp. If you joined our group, you could get some nice gear and help out other survivors. Edited by Mr-Zer0
