Optimist (DayZ) 6 Posted August 28, 2012 As some of you may know, we say the letter 'Z' differently in the UK/USA to those in NZ.We pronounce 'Z' phonetically as "zee", whereas in New Zealand it's "Zed".So did Rocket - a New Zealander - intend for the game to be pronounced "Dayzee" or "Dayzed"?Is this important? Not at all.Does he care? Probably not.But I was curious.
Dancing.Russian.Man 1631 Posted August 28, 2012 (edited) Day-Zee. He uses that.Edit; BUT! Day-Zed is NOT wrong, either. It doesn't matter. Edited August 28, 2012 by Dancing.Russian.Man

Optimist (DayZ) 6 Posted August 28, 2012 Folk in the UK don't say it the same way as those in the USA.Could you expand on this? The only way I could imagine an American saying it differently would be in the style of a sassy black woman: "Lafonda, get off yo' ass guuurrrrl, we gon' play sum' Dayzaaaayyyy." ironman Tetsuo 181 Posted August 28, 2012 UK say Zed, Americans need the softer version "Zee" because for some reason they replaced all the Ss in words with Zs just to be different...... B)
kebman 213 Posted August 28, 2012 I say "Dey Zsett" cuz I'm Norwegian.
sostronk 334 Posted August 28, 2012 Well, as an Australian, I pronounce "DayZ" as "day-zee".The correct pronunciation in Australia is actually Day Zed. Dayzee sounds kind of gay for a "hardcore Zombie survival shooter". But then it is easier to say it quicker.
timboski 618 Posted August 28, 2012 I'm in the UK but I've always said "zee" because that's what Sesame St taught me (much to the annoyance of my primary school teachers). All my mates bar 2 say "Day Zed", the other two say "Days".

TheMedic 58 Posted August 28, 2012 It's however you want to pronounce it. If you want to call it "Day Zed" go ahead. If it's "Daisy" then let it be. If you call it "Briaglakfas;dharoiewnavklbline" then that's just fine too.
Honest Bill 37 Posted August 28, 2012 I actually pronounce it 'Bobcat Goldthwaite'
-=seany=- 65 Posted August 28, 2012 I used to call it Daze, but have since changed to Daisy. I think that probably sounds best, comercially.
elasticz 35 Posted August 28, 2012 Everyone pronounces it as Day-Zee.However I think Day-Zed makes more sence.Zed's an acronym for zombie, and it's a zomie game right?
