iyax 2 Posted August 28, 2012 my idea to help against hackers is bring in a 'kill feed' just like battlefield, it should say 'KILLER - WEAPON USED - PERSON KILLED' then if the admin is on and he notices for example that the 'killer' is using an AS50 TWS or something he can then kick/ban the player. i knwo this isnt the best fix but it could help a bit

CerebralZombie (DayZ) 151 Posted August 28, 2012 Maybe it's show if a hacker killed a bunch of player with a hack too? It could say they were killed by, "..." but with no weapon. We'll see though, since the stand alone will be different. It won't allow scripts either like Arma II does.
grezvany13 56 Posted August 28, 2012 Please note that using hacked weapons isn't bannable, only spawning them in the world is.So even if you could see "Player X killed Player Y with weapon Z" you still have no idea if the player was a hacker or just found the weapon. And I agree with Cats that the killer name should remain hidden, since when you get killed in real life you can't hunt him either ;)
Ghost53 (DayZ) 0 Posted August 28, 2012 too bad there are actually sooo many admins and their clans cheating.. all is fine untill you start messing with their stuff, then suddenly you have their entire clan with tws and pdw sd and such on your tail.. Gogster (DayZ) 626 Posted August 28, 2012 No,The killer must remain secret. Why?
byrgesen 1341 Posted August 28, 2012 Why?Coz its the realistic aspect of dayz. Giving people the option to know who kills you, will turn in into COD for sure lol.I personally love not being able to know who killed me, coz this is a simulator, not a wargame
PapaTango69 5 Posted August 28, 2012 It would help expose the hacker ...if 5 people get killed from different places on map...then other people are aware of hackers name....Veteran servers example ....hacker could kill 10 people and nobody would know anything suspicious because its not advertised on Veteran servers who dies. Dancing.Russian.Man 1631 Posted August 28, 2012 There was already "X was killed by Y."Then there were no death messages. Now there's "X was killed."People are never happy.Besides, hackers can just teleport everyone mid-air. It counts as a suicide.
spawn (DayZ) 217 Posted August 28, 2012 Coz its the realistic aspect of dayz. Giving people the option to know who kills you, will turn in into COD for sure lol.I personally love not being able to know who killed me, coz this is a simulator, not a wargamelol this is not a simulator at all. if you want to play a simulator go play VBS1 or 2. simulators are not fun thats why no1 plays them.I think if this idea was in place it would be abused by admins. Maybe if there was a log showing what weapons each player is using or has equipped. then when you kill someone then seconds later he has an M107 which is impossible unless he found it on a body on the coast.. schrapple 119 Posted August 28, 2012 The killer should remain secret to the players, however there is no reason why the admin shouldn't have access to the information.
spawn (DayZ) 217 Posted August 28, 2012 besides stop people from hacking. it is not COD where the highest kill count is the best. if you want to kill players all day this game is not for you.
Lord oboy 0 Posted August 28, 2012 One thing you could do is that you don't alow "Third party apps". And have a program that check your Dayz/Arma2 folder for any files that is not meant to be there to begin with. If the program notice any 3rd party applications you will not be allowed to browse for servers. I know that this may cause some minor problems such as not being able to use Mumble ingameUI or other things like it.But still it's just an idea that might help. libertine 351 Posted August 29, 2012 I think they should do it for now at least. IF, that is, they add in a way to get rid of the guy. I'd implement global, permanent bans for server nuking, via voting, that would be checked by an authority.

Arma is NOT a game, its NOT a shooter. its a SIMULATOR end of story. You find no other game like it. So saying you dont find simulators fun is kinda the same as saying you dont like arma or dayz.
