3D models from Russia

Well... i'm create this post again, because i not save the previous version. Unfortunately i'm not save the text when write. If my memory serves me i wrote:

I'm the indie-developer from Russia. Currently i have no more tasks from my customers. Maybe because in the summer activity game-development companies have a very slow speed of movement. In my free time i buy the Combined Operation (in the next text CO) because i heard about DayZ mod.

It's a unique event, and i think it's one of many pages of new age of hardcore games. It's unique game experience for me. In this game gamers real made the events which do this game better, deeper.

I look in my portfolio some works which can use in DayZ mod. And i want give this models for mod creators. Excuse me for that - but my english knowledge is very limited. I have no chance to find his names. Only one, i heard one of the mod develoment team also known as Rocket.

If you hear me Mr. Rocket. I'm here, i have a little pack of graphical content and want contribute this models for you. If you like the quality ofcourse.

(I do these models for my post-nuclear project. But i'm alone and i have no idea how long time i take on my personal project. Here i'm look the good mod. On the alpha period this mod give to gamers many fun and emmotions, and i think - many talented 3D and 2D artists can help this mode. It's almost what i want to say. And ofcourse i want say - Thank You for all people who do this mod, and for community. For gamers.

Becouse namely gamers made the second part of this mod. Gamers do in-game situations and events.)

If you have a opportunity to hire me - i been glad work with you. If you have no this opportunity - take these models free. I already have 2 guns, beans, and different stuff which we can use in the DayZ. If you want.

I have a different ideas for DayZ mod if you interested.

I really love the post-nuclear and post-apocalyptic worlds. I love the rusty and mud on the objects. I feel this worlds as be a live in this world. I offered my services for Brian Fargo, but his team thinks that professional artists can do they job as voluntary workers.

It's very funny. But doesn't funny if artist must help his family. ) If we cant work as customer and freelancer - i try to find "windows" in my work routine. For the most interest work. I think DayZ mod - it's a very interesting game. Do not throw it.

Edit: How many polys are you using for most of these? A cut-out with the mesh laid on top would be nice to see, something like this:

This is two wires (please see attachments). Browning HP have a good economy wire, but Smith&Wesson have a poor wire (specific), it's a bad economy - but perfect shading in the different game engines.

Smith&Wesson:

2320 Poly

4906 Tris

Browning HP:

1268 Poly

2642 Tris

Different artist uses different techniques of model creation. If we use massive normal map for details - it's a one of these way. Second path - made the detalization via polys. In this case normal map used for very small detalization.

In 2000th people thinks about normal-map technology like about means for solving all problems. Look around - we live in the 2012th. Game technology is changing. What had been done with the help of normal maps - today can build with the geometry.

I hope i understand your question right Publik and give a correct answer. If i'm wrong - don't be offend on me. I'm teach the english by myself without teachers.

And... i'm learn the english with a help from... m-m-m... i'm regular look the old TV show on the english. Also known as F.R.I.E.N.D.S. Maybe it's not good way to learn english. But it's a only one way for me. I'm working and parallel listen the TV show in my headphones.

And only after ending Kickstarter Company i'm recieve the clear answer about billions of fans who be glad work without payments, only for chance to putting into the Wasteland 2 pieces of their fan-work. It's a good idea - but not for me.

But i can't think that i made mistake. When i'm paint my fan-art - many people who love the post-nuclear games wrote to me and say for me warm words. It's a very important for me. Feedback's from the fans.

I went into the industry 12th years ago. And at this moment i'm so tired. I have a 23th game on my count. But i have no real and good games. And in my head crept the idea... if i can't find the good games in Russia, maybe i can find they in different countries?

Main problem of this idea... not many companies do post-nuclear and post-apocalyptic games. And on this time i have a little problem with a finding the good place for me.

Well, I understand. However being a professional means they understand the hard work, so I feel that, not paying any kind of royalties to those people (even if they want to do it for free) well... feels kind of cheap and unprofessional.

I love post-apocalyptic settings too (be it games, movies, books or anything else).

About not getting the work you want, maybe you should try something different.

Maybe work on some board games? Or concept art for amateur films? Have you

checked Kickstarter? Theres loads of projects of all kinds of things. Maybe a graphic novel?

A comic? I believe theres some other post apocalyptic themed games as well.

Or maybe you could Kickstart your own stuff!

Rick, amazing work. I was thinking about drawing some concept arts for DayZ, but I feel kinda like a noob now seeing all your great stuff :)
