1. If you want to eat your way up to full HP. Then eat every piece of meat as fast as possible. Don't wait for the blood to go up, and then eat another. You can eat all at once to get instant blood.

2. Tossing an item (empty tin can, grenade) is harder than you think. Practise throwing stuff, before you throw a grenade. - how to -> Click once and hold in the mouse click the longer you want to throw it, aim abit up (30-45 degrees) and then release. Then you will get it thrown pretty long.

3. It's hard to get in a a house through a open door, swing your mouse from left to right in a quick motion, to easily go through a open door.

4. Instead of pressing the arrows when looting an item into your backpack, simply dubble click on the name and it will loot it the number of item faster into your backpack. (instead of click "take" or the arrows to transfer) You can also double click on you backpack instead of say "Open backpack" at the bottom.

5. Zombies CAN NOT touch you if you stand inside a pinetree. They will just stand and attack the leafs instead of you.

6. Run through treelines to block the line of sight from zombies chaseing you. The more trees you run through, the bigger the chance of losing a zombie. (remember to keep low profile after you lost it, it will eventually hear you or see you when it walks through the tree and popout on the other side again).

7. Use middle-click (scrollwheel) on you mouse to open doors instantly when you see the green arrow that allows it to perform that action.

8. ALWAYS! keep your inventory full. I see alot of people not picking up items like bandages, food and water, even though they have alot of space left. You can always drop it again.

*** I recommend haveing in your inventory ***

Sidearm inventory: | 4 x bandages | 4 x sidearm mags |

Main inventory: | 2 x food | 2 x drink | 1 x epi-pen | 1 x painkiller | 1 x Morfine | 1 x bloodbag | 3 x primary mags |

Backpack inventory: Extra of everything + an extra gun (always have a longrange and a medium to short range primary weapon)

- if you are running the 1.7.2.5 patch, place half emtpy mags in your backpack before logging out, your magic backpack will refill them while you are sleeping.

- EVERY lightsource (flashlights, flares, chemlights, campfires and so on) will only enhance NVGs and not blind them if the lightsource is over ~10m away

PROBLEM: Broken leg, can't go through doors/up stairs

SOLUTION: Crawl as close to them as possible, face the direction you want to go, then vault[v].

Had I known this earlier in my dayz career it would have saved me hours of needless gameplay.

lol shameless bit of self promotion there

Well, you'd be surprised how many people don't bother to read the stickies in this forum.

To stay in topic though: since the threat in this game is real life humans, don't act like other players are npc's. For instance, you think "that hill would be great for sniping from". It probably is. And 20 other dead people thought that as well.

I wasn't knockin' ya for it, just thought it was funny that you were the one to say it. :D

Tip: nighttime affects how visible you are to zombies, but they can hear just as good as they can during the day.

Some "workarounds" for known bugs:

1) Before you change into camo clothing or a ghillie suit, drop your backpack. Do not do this in a wood, as your pack will often evaporare. Mostly it is not gone though, the game places it AT THE NEAREST POINT OUTSIDE the wood! so search the lawns if it happens. To safely put down a backpack: be 2 m away from any building or whatever object in the grass, drop an object to make aloot pile (I use painkillers, they are a large white box, easily locatable to pick up later), then drop the backpack on there. get in your suit and put it back on, enjoy!

Sometimes you will find backpacks in town but you are not able to select them to pick up! The reason: You need to remove ALL loot items lying underneath it! THEN you can pick up the backpack. Backpack sizes are: coyote PATROLpack: 8 slots, czech backpack: 16 slots, alice pack: 20 slots; coyote BACKpack: 24 slots.

2) Do NEVER put a weapon in a backpack that is too full, as it despawns!! You need 10 free slots for a main weapon, 5 for a handgun. Same is true for ammo clips etc; if put into a backpack whgich is full, objects get lost!

3) do not enter buildings prone, or at least do not turn around too much in these buildins or doorways, this should prevent bone breakings.

4) If your legs are broken and you need to go up a stair in a barn (or any broad stairway...), lie down sideways in front of it and strafe up. 90% gets you up without any more bonebreaking...wait, you already got that...soooo...

5) If you find a weapon that is definitely not in the game (a hacked gun, like AS50 with htermal or G36 rifle), do not log out with htis weapon in your inventory, do not kill anyone with it. just drop the damn thing in a bush or hide the body it was on after looting it.

Other stuff:

6) You can figure out "north" using only a watch, which is easier to find in supermarkets in comparison to a compass. Look up the tutorial in youtube. Works in real life, too!

6.1) Clouds in Chernarus only travel from west to east.

7) To get military grade weapons, try the station houses in Elektro or Cherno. In Cherno, do not forget to check the town hall building, and there are two hospitals, plus medical tents. just north of the medical tents there are 2 military tents. The northwestern hospital in Cherno has three or four large red brick houses around it, too. They are all enterable and have sick loot the the brim!! And be aware of bandits...Sacriel42 did a nice beginner's video to loot Elektro on youtube.

You cant get banned for having a hacked gun, but if you spawned it thats another thing.

are you retarted?

I don't think he is, but you just might be judging upon the quality of your posts.

Tip. Never tell someone you just met that you're leaving. You might hurt their feelings.

Don't think that you can outrun a zombie, you can't. You can however loose a zombie if you get out (and stay out) it's line of sight.

Don't make the mistake of thinking you are better than zombies. They can, and will, fuck your shit up.

Zombies are better humans than humans.

zombies.

I think I'm in love.

Feeling lucky? You can actually kill someone with a lucky throw using one of those empty whiskey bottles.

I would advise destroying the gun entirely by trying to put it into a full backpack if possible instead of leaving it lying around where some little kid could pick it up, gun safety ftw.

8. ALWAYS! keep your inventory full. I see alot of people not picking up items like bandages, food and water, even though they have alot of space left. You can always drop it again.

This is usually a good idea except when you are going to loot a high risk area like stary or NW airfield. In those sort of areas you don't want to be sitting there trying to shuffle things around in your backpack so I would advise going in there with extra room in your inventory.

1.Use flares and chemlights to throw off snipers. Throw one by the church, run to the supermarket, then throw another one near the church and go in the church.

2. Don't bother saying friendly as nobody is really going to say "not friendly". And the whole thing of saying "friendly" before they shoot you in the face is now a pretty old trick.

3. Setup a fire outside a major city and wait near it for someone to come, kill them when they do chances are they were not coming to help you with your fire.

4, If after respawn you find yourself low on blood and without gear it makes more sense to die and respawn again rather than scraping by with no gear and 5000 blood.

5. Don't bother making friends in the server and only play with people that are already your friends. No good will come of it.

Zeehon23, your love for zombies disturbs me.

If you log in and find yourself suddenly on the beach, you might as well get over it. It happens, for now at least. Look at it as a chance to explore the area around you again. Maybe you'll get lucky. Maybe you'll stumble upon that downed chopper you've been hoping for. Maybe you'll find a camp with nobody around.

Which brings to mind another tip: If you loot someone else's camp, hurry up and GTFO of there. You never know when somebody might log back in and walk right up behind you.

If you get a vehicle:

Old Bike:

- Play either Queen: Bicycle race or Ridin Dirty over direct chat!

-This is the ultimate indestructible weapon of Trollhala. Bling Bling around players and bring zombies to them.

- Indestructible it is, because of a bug, if you disembark and get on as driver again, the bicycle fully heals.

ATV (All Tripping Vehicle) :

- Go into a town and honk.

- Play the Warthog song over direct chat. (youtube and search for Warthog song.)

- Drive over bridges and railroads as fast as possible.

- If you flip it, get off as quickly as possible and wait till another players comes and helps you flip it over.

BUS (Big Unmaneuverable Suicide):

-Pick up random people on the coast at gunpoint

-Shoot them if they talk on the BUS:

Tractor:

- Buy farming simulator and get some practice, remember, the zombies are "wheat" you need to drive over and harvest.

Motorcycle:

-Find a friend and honk around Stary Sobor on the sniper hills, bonus points for breaking sniper's legs.

Ural:

- Find other vehicles and ram them off the road, saying you are the truck police.

- Bonus points if you have a whole swat team of friends in it, then park at a contested building in Cherno or Electro and let everyone disembark and wreck the building.

- Tents are your enemies, drive over them.

UAZ or Military Offroad:

-You are pretty much set gamewise. Get some friends and play military police, a UNO peacekeeping unit (bonus points if you find blue helmets) or be a medevac (drive over people, then heal them.)

Civilian cars:

- Drive only offroad with it, it's seriously a lot faster on it if you imagine it is!

- Taxi people, take bullets as payment, preferably from the barrel.

Fishing Boats:

- Let a friend drive it and then run past him, mocking him.

PBX (Plumber Bro Xtreme):

- Do marytime raids on Electro and Cherno at night without NVG's, if you hit a rock, you won the game.

- Drive over people swimming, punish those who disturb Neptune's slumber!

Helicopter:

- Let the most newbiest of your group drive the chopper, if they didn't do the chopper tutorial, even better. Believe me, it will pay off.

- Constantly shoot the Miniguns when you are the gunner.

- Try doing para drops into forests, 5 points for leaf trees, 10 points for pine trees, 0 points if you miss all the trees.

- Troll your friends as a pilot by shutting off the engine and say the engine is out, telling them to eject eject!

And remember kids, the more you honk, the cooler you are!
