Tempus (DayZ) 1062 Posted December 2, 2013 Adding a special clothing item for DayZ wouldn't harm a thing. I disagree, especially if character appearance and gameplay are as heavily intertwined as they are in DayZ. But even if they weren't, special ingame items for certain editions in general are absolute horseshit in my humble opinion. To me, cosmetics and aesthetics (and character individualization in particular) are universal and important parts of every video game. I never really got the "purely cosmetic" argument for anything other than free-to-play games who live on selling this kind of stuff. If you want to buy a "special edition" because you are a collector or a die-hard fan, cool. You shouldn't need a reward other than a presentable box, some cool goodies and the satisfaction of supporting your game, though (the latter being the only reasonable argument for any "special edition" of a digitally distributed game). It would be a very thin line between including exclusive outfits and individually charging for special pieces of clothing. There are enough full-price games that charge you for something that's already technically included or won't let you play certain game modes unless you pre-ordered them. Besides, anyone could shoot you in the face and steal your "gold AK" and "special clothes", and where does that leave us? Are we going to have gear protection as well? Don't care if it's something only cosmetic, want a special edition, they can package it in a nice box or include a little printed guide or a hunting knife or whatever, don't care as long as it's nothing in-game. Im a profesional graphic designer. I can show you some stuff but for now the rest is secret. This special edition will contain a compas, an art book with 50 short stories writted by talented fans from "DayZspain.com", a gas mask, a full detailed map in a special case, the videogame of course, a 16GB canned food pen drive, and much more. Here are 2 previews of the book (it look like as a anonimous collector survivor finding diaries from other survivors in houses, cars, etc. The book simulate like a creepy private collection full of memories from cherno survivors).
