To those who dislike the new combat logging timer

Agreed... but I'm still heavily disliking the fact that I have to leave my character exposed for 30 seconds when I log out. It should defiantly not kick me out of the game session while the timer counts down... that way I could at least react to any possible noises/movements towards my location. Sure, I'm not logging out at NWAF... but still, it leaves a bad taste not knowing what happens in those 30 seconds.

    Ballistic Vest Spawn

I found the stab vest and the press vest... only thing that I have not found is the ballistic vest. Is it really already implemented? I was sure that it is not added yet.

Why DayZ is no survival game

Finding food and water should be a lot harder too. Conserved food should be the minority... players should have to hunt down animals as soon as hunting is implemented. The meat will have to get special treatment before it can be consumed to purify it from any possible infections. Otherwise there is a chance that the player will get sick by eating infected meat. Hunting does two things, it will have you exposed to other players and it requires time to track down an animal. Survival will be a lot more present in the game and people will have to struggle to survive in the harsh environment on chernarus. Combined with the hopefully improved zombie AI and population, DayZ will be a true survival game. I guess we just have to wait for the game to progress further in its development.
  4. Seems that I can consider myself lucky. There are several Hardcore-Servers in my timezone with very good ping and they are on 35+/40 characters most of the time.

Why DayZ is no survival game

DayZ in its current alpha state is as far away from survival as Call of Duty: Search and Destroy Mode. They both have perma death... only difference in DayZ is that you actually have to drink a coke every few minutes. This is all subject to change in the future of course... Some examples: Zombiehits have to cause infection, drinking non-purified environmental water has to cause some kind of infection, which needs treatment. Using anything between badly damaged and worn should cause a chance of sickness, in case of a clothing, as no one knows who used it before. Maybe that jeans the player has found has been worn by a zed who left it there after transforming. Healing yourself up through the healthy status should take several hours of in-game time. It seems like some players actually think DayZ (0.33) is about survival because you have to feed your character... well than Tamagotchi is a survival game too. It does have perma death too by the way, really hardcore!
  6. I did not read the whole thread, but let me put it this way. DayZ in its current alpha state is as far away from survival as Call of Duty: Search and Destroy Mode. They both have perma death... only difference in DayZ is that you actually have to drink a coke every few minutes. I really do not understand somebody who is not pvping in the current state of the game, simply because their is no other content. As soon as the first major content patches arrive and/or the game gets into beta and finally vanilla state, this will be a whole different story. If somebody writes that he has not killed a single person since release, I actually wonder what he has been doing. I mean, aside from eating beans and drinking a coke... and walking around in the wilderness of course. ________ Me? I gear up in order to have an advantage above other players. Zombies are not even close to a threat at the moment. A shovel is enough to deal with every zombie in this game... no need to have anything else, when it comes to survival. Still, people (me included) go for M4's/Nagas and Military-Clothing... and I can personally see no reason for this aside from PVP. The whole fun that I'm currently having is about killing or get killed (...by other players). I deliberately seek confrontations with other players, which means I'm in cities and military areas most of the time. This is the only game where I actually get adrenaline rushes in certain pvp situations, which to me is absolutely amazing. As soon as this game gets some additional content it will be a different story, like I said... but right now? This is the only way to really have fun. Sidenote: I'm only killing armed players, I have no fun in killing fresh spawns. I've encountered that the fast majority of this game shots on sight... me included. At the moment I see no reason for conversations because I do not intend to play in a group as long as their is no group content. With group content I mean areas where you cannot survive alone, like a heavily infected city or military base. ...or maybe even an area which is crowded by bandit-npcs which are pve-encounters. I know that DayZ is above all a Sandbox game... but a Sandbox game lives from its choices. Right now there is not really any major choice... only one way -> PVP and nothing else. This is not a rant, its just an objective representation of the current state of this game. I'm sure that Dean and the Team will add some amazing stuff (... especially survival mechanics) down the road and the journey has just started.

    map vs road signs

I cant speak Cyrillic and I'm still able to read the signs. That being said, there are maps with the Cyrillic names, for example: http://dayzdb.com/map This is how I read them: I track down the following letters: "a", "o", ,"e", "t" and "k". Those letters are similar to the roman alphabet. Combined with the length of the name, I can read all the signs. Once you have a basic understanding of the map, it will be pretty easy to read them. If you already know your vague location, there are not many possible options.

    Sounds boring.

    Mosin vs M4A1

Maybe if you only fire from the hip...
  10. YassirX

    Mosin or M4?

Long Range (500m+) = Mosin. Medium-Close Range = M4 As soon as ACOG magnifies by x4 (instead of x1.6) I will use it for long range too.

KOS, because you play too much Simcity

Alpha... I guess you know what that means? Too bad that you have buyers remorse on an alpha product. There was a time when alpha state meant barely playable I bought this game to donate to Bohemia for the development and expected a barely playable game in return. ...I was surprised.
  12. I don't know that exploit and I would not use it, even if I knew how it works. Never cheated in any game and I do not intend to change that. It's a shame to see that I'm the minority. The community always manages to ruin the gameplay of any game. Give them one slight leak and they will go trough it like rats who just found some cheesy cheese.
  13. All I can say is... don't get too addicted to your characters it will ruin the fun. Don't drink the Kool Aid guys xD

    Trade Strategies

I always trade inside of a garage, this way I can not be sniped by a second player and there is only one entrance. During the Trade the garage door is closed, which means that the chance of a third party appearance is pretty low.
  15. The main difference DayZ has above other games it that it does have no difficulty level. New players are confronted with exactly the same difficulty that veterans are used too. If the new player lacks the ability or appeal to manage this steep learning curve, he will quit the game. In other games the exact same player could chose to lower the difficulty or use an ingame cheat to balance his inability. That's also the reason why games like Battlefield or Call of Duty appeal to the masses, they have a very easy learning curve especially in multiplayer. Death is without any meaning in those games. If a player dies 30 times in a single battle, its not a problem. He still gets points for killing other players, regardless on how often he died himself. 1:1 Ratio is common in those games, which I call Kamikaze. Call of Duties "Search and Destroy" Mode is an exception but I've encountered that the majority prefers TDM due to the reasons listed above. ...and even SaD can not hide the heavily arcade weapon physics of CoD. I could not stand Call of Duty after Modern Warfare 1, which in my opinion was the only good game of the franchise. Millions of others think otherwise. They totally messed it up in Modern Warfare 2, as there was more traffic in the air, due to kill-streaks... than on the New York Airport. ...but I enjoyed the ability to launch an atomic nuke and win the game by myself in MW2 :D . ________ Long story short, if you don't like a game... don't play it. There is not a single game which appeals to everyone.
