If you could implement ANYTHING What would you?

Recommended Posts

If they're already chasing you it won't work, but if you throw something while you're hidden, they'll meander in that general direction. Flares work very well.

I definitely like the idea of more melee weapons and the added realism of actually being able to use the stuff that you see including the axes in the wood piles. I would love to see more clothing items and more general customisation. I raincoat could stave off illness and a jacket could keep you warm.

There were a couple of immersion breakers mentioned here like dying of thirst in the rain and not being able to eat the pumpkins. I agree with the posts that say these things have to go! Generally I would just like to see any real option that could be undertaken in this situation being viable in game. Stuff like:

- raincatchers

- caches

- traps beyond bear traps

- working radios

- a radio station

- drinking directly from wells

- eating insects

- bare fisted attacks or atleast a push off

- improvised weapons (already suggest here)

- horses

- cannabalism (massive humanity hit)

- tasers

I would like to see...

- 30 secounds logout timer

- military food

- all buildings accessible

- buildings with underground/cellar (where I would never go, cause its too dark and scary)

- locked doors, which can be opened when shooting on them

- radios which play music

- radio station which deliver direct voice messages to places where a working radio is

- radio can be destroyed and repaired

- able to use the hunting knife as a weapon

- more melee weapons, at least your own fist

- tracer munition, nice effect at night

- claymores or traps you can make with grenades

- barrels/raincatchers, which fill up with water when its raining

- at some places hordes of zombies, where you have to kill them in order to loot

- zombies with several abilities (stronger, jumping on you, drag you on the ground; some are blind but hear very good ect...)

- at some point you just can't run anymore (like when you carry vehicle parts for an hour in your backpack. maybe you need to rest, sit down...)

and of course, get rid of these hackers.....

Maybe a less realistic aspect is to add a skill system/experience system which rewards you for killing zombies and helping players. Teaming up to get those special hard to get skills, and definately make ammo food and water like 10x harder to find, so people will trade stuff for ammo, leather (to make clothes for heat), food water you name it.

Gear having a weigh and weigh being a penalty.

I put a 14kg sniper in my backpack + 3 spare mag, an 8kg LMG in my hands + 4x200 rounds belt, food, water, hatchet plus 2x20l jerrycan... i can barly "run" for a minute and will have to stop for a long time after that.

I travel light with a small rifle and a couple of rounds, some food and basic stuff i can run longer, faster, drink / eat less, and walk for hours.

Nice ideas, most of these would be great but I imagine they'd be hard to pull off. We can dream, though. I guess DayZ would have seemed impossible in the Pac-man days...

Things I'd add:

Ability to choose a perk or two when choosing your gender. For instance, I can quite easily start a fire without a hatchet and matches, so a perk that enables you to take wood from fallen trees in the forest and start a fire using only that would add a bit of realism for me. Other perks could include getting a bit of extra meat from dead animals, perhap even dead survivors (Lolwut? Dead Survivors? Not quite how 'surviving' works), or a perk that enables you to pilot helicopters. (Seriously, do they teach the Chernerussian kids how to fly choppers in school?)

Aesthetic changes to make the world seem like society actually tried to fight the Zombie Apocalypse. Yeah theres a mass grave here and there, military vehicles block the streets and there's dead soldiers in the airfields as well as a red cross camp, but where are the ruined garrisons, the camps where suspected infected were held, the checkpoints on the highways leading out of the major towns and cities where the military was forced to gun down scores of civillians trying to break through when things started to get way out of control.

As for weapons, Military grade weaponry would be quite common in the world after Z day, due to the local military presence required to enforce order in areas as yet unnaffected by the crisis as well as efforts to combat and contain the enemy advance. Make no mistake, the Government would consider an uprising of the undead an attack by a hostile force and quickly deploy it's forces against it. (I believe wikipaedia defines a zombie apocalypse 'A general assault on civilization by forces of the undead')

Apologies, I've read too much into this topic. Let me end by adding on final idea... Some other way to deploy chemlights and flares than using the 'fire mode' function. Nothing hurts quite so much as losing some nice gear because you threw a chemlight into some bandit's face instead of some 7.62 HIGH VELOCITY!!!

Anything Eh?

-Per server generated maps with a vast selection of building types from skyscrapers to power stations

-A well implemented physics system for all objects and terrain.

-A broader and more complex health system: Broken arms, limping on a splinted leg, recovery delay after eating.

-Areas of the map that aren't just challenging to visit because of PvP but impassable without specialised equipment and group collaboration.

-Diplomacy and bartering. A genuine sense that the survivors are changing the landscape for better or for worse.

-Dynamic destructable environments

-Dynamic movement/interactions with environment (ie more use of your own person; fighting, free running, hiding)

- Spawning more useless items (but possibly combinable), spawning less useful items (a recent thread DayZ should be a constant battle for the resources you need, not a contant battle for something to do put down a good argument for this, but there are plenty of others)

- Be able to have a very real and consequential impact on your enviornment, Control Rural Industry & Control Old Industry; couple of threads i made on long term incentives for organised groups to occupy towns and cities.

I really like these ideas. A perk system would be a great way of adding some difference between survivors. I like the idea of some more RPG elements without turning Day Z into a full on RPG.

I agree, let Dayz be simple like it is. I don't llike the idea of experience points, skilltrees which can be unlocked ect.

I'd like a team forming mechanic where you can offer to team up with with a stranger. When accepted , teamed players can trade with both players consent but cannot kill each other (I think the only way it would work), the 'not being able to kill other team members' persists for two minutes after a member quits the team. Maybe it would give a reason for something other than KOS. You would be able to turn off these offers in options if you wanted to stay lone wolf.

Also, I'd like to see endgame content involving zombies in the north for geared up players. Maybe siege situations where players can get involved in helping protect villages or towns with human bots in.

Eve style servers, it fixes so many things...

no more altf4, server hopping, disabling vegitation, limiting your display to see, etc...

play a private hive. you have to start over on the coast but its exactly what you just said. you and any group youre part of are welcome to join the private hive im associated with.

pm me for details.

I always wanted to be able to kill myself with my own weapon. Most games allow to do it with the explosives, but none with a gun or a knife.

It is so obvious what this games needs for added realism.

An ultra rare drop.....Can openers

Am I the only one who would like to see a repairable train? A choo choo would be marvellous. We could have outings and a locomotive enthusiast society.

Food and hunting system revamped

More choice for choosing unique/customisable player skins

Less military weapons and larger array of domestic associated firearms

Rare scripted " surreal horror " events ( e.g rare ghost(s) event can activate when a player is alone by them self in a secluded shanty town, perhaps?!)

I think I'll stop there else i could go all night !

I would add that you have to find a secret hiding spot to sleep in game, and cant logg your char out of the game.

It would add more challange to survival :) Maybe it would have to be in a house, your secret underground base or a tent.

I also would like a fixed % chanse to snow, and if you got snow several days it would build up on the ground.

Then you would need stuff like chains on your weels, winter clothing, winter camo etc.. :)

also packs of wolfs and other wild animals.

The ability to use the entrenching tool to bury loot for later pick up.

the ability to use wood pile to make splints to fix broken bones(youd still lose say 2000 blood to accommodate the walking on a healing bone, but you could walk...maybe youd be in shock still ....)

the ability to get dirty for camo

i would do two dayz games

pvp version where not much is changed except the stuff above.

and a zombie survival mod version with the cz550 as the highest sniper rifle, an AK as the best military AR and no NV goggles. Military loot super rare only spawning on hellicopters and thats it. the firehouse and such would spawn shotguns and pistols and maybe maps and some slightly better than in major city loot. that way the skill of the player is more in focus rather than the ability to camp good spots.

This guys idea

Harder sniping would make sniping itself more enjoyable, and cut down on the amount of long distance campers.
