I highly doubt this will be fixed any time soon, rocket is off to pax, and dealing with the new game for now, there has been no update for some time and i doubt there will be for a few more weeks, rember he is trying to get standalone out before the end of the year.

Although it is not official , my entire group is playing lingor , no graphics glitches , and as they are not official , the admins can make some basic changes to cars\guns etc, i have been having a blast and can wait.

our map has 3 huey's , chopper battles are fairly epic

so wish there was some form of dayz gun game mod, like every time you shoot you get a different gun

so it's time to use this thread to promote lingor as maybe then we will get some response ie: a lock.

so how does one go about playing lingor island ?

tbh lingor is fun for a few hrs then you realize its not as good as the original map ;)

Hi, Been lurking for ages but just signed up to give my tuppenny bit, hope this helps some players and maybe developers.

Apart from the graphic glitches (which for me are not a problem when using default vid mem), there are 2 post-patch things that I want to bring to your attention.

Firstly, TENTS

yes yes yes we all know they don't save loot anymore, THAT ISN'T THE ISSUE. Sorry to piss on your parades but there is potentially a lot worse to come. As far as I recall, tents stick around for a week after you die as long as you use them, correct? but they are not saving loot to the hive. So it may stand to reason that tents are not saving THEMSELVES either. I have noticed an alarming number of posts regarding vanishing camps recently, what, a week after the patch. Tents as we know it are now dying out server wide, my own camps vanished yesterday. The tent lifetime clock is still ticking but there is no way to reset it by saving as that function broke a week ago.

Tent extinction caused by a disastrous bug... Or intentional CLEANSING? If I was Rocket, I would certainly consider it one way to wipe out every tent full of duped and hacked items, that's for sure. No mess, no blame, all you need to do is disable the save function and wait. For at least a week. Painful but clean. I would also bin the aviators because Oscar Goldman was never cool. NEVER.

Secondly, COAST SPAWNING

I did some experimentation on this and can confirm what some have already suggested, it is to do with improperly quitting the game or closing arma2 when it locks up during loading. That is using cntrl-alt-dlt to quit. Or alt-f4. This obviously screws up whatever data relays to and from the hive and so next time you log in it behaves as though you previously died, and lands you on the coast.

Who knows, this could be part of some initial 'punishment' code implemented in the last patch to stop alt-f4 quitters (or I could just be a paranoid schizo) but it seems a little too coincidental... and effective... not to be even partly intentional.

Anyway I have found a workaround using dayz commander, haven't tested with Six though but should work the same:

Your loading screen freezes. To avoid spawning on the coast the next time you login:

1 DO NOT QUIT THE APPLICATION. Leave arma2 running.

2 Alt Tab to desktop

3 reopen dayz commander (if closed)

4 locate the server you tried to join and rejoin. In the popup option that asks if you want to close current game or start a new one, select new. DO NOT CLOSE THE EXISTING GAME.

5 A new game will open and if the server is ok you should be able to join. You will spawn where you left off. Leave this game open, then:

6 Alt-tab to desktop, open task manager and close the first arma2oa.exe.

7 Alt-tab back to your game. Survive. Eat. Kill. Say 'Friendly'.

When done, exit the game properly and it will save your position.

As for alt-f4ers, you're f4cked.

We have 2 servers now- Our public server is busted but so far our private server is saving vehicles at least. Problem using a private hive server is you start over - so effectively you have 2 characters or more (depending on how many private servers you join). So the Priv server guys are fixing the issue that the devs aren't - why are the 2 not talking to each other?

they are working on the stand alone my guess is mod is on the back burner at the moment ... I am sure they will address it as they are planning on running the mod along side the stand alone but I do not think its top priority atm.

If you have an nvidia card go to the control panel and turn off Threaded Optimization for OA. I haven't seen an artifact since doing this a few days ago.

Hive servers? Well that mighty sucks, bang goes that theory. Funny though it only ever does it for me when I quit badly. I must be lucky I guess, still got all the gear on my back that I had a coupla weeks ago... I will try and replicate it tonight, as i'm getting bored of my fal nv and ghillie anyway - I miss the axe action in cherno.
