sr69mm-jc 4 Posted December 18, 2012 Has there been any word on how the SA will be performance wise compared to the mod ?, id kill a zombie with a spoon for another 10fpsYes Budheads, Rocket has mentioned SA optimization several times. Perfomance will be improved noticeably from what I've seen.
samzerks88 31 Posted December 18, 2012 @Circuleer, thanks for the quick response and help. 900 euros is a bit too steep for me.I was hoping to get something about half the price of that, but it seems i will struggle to play ANYTHING then.I might get one around 500 and see if i can get it on finance. Pay monthly.
w.westhoeve@hotmail.com 5 Posted December 18, 2012 @Mr. Friendly500 will probably get you a decent PC which can easily run DayZ on mid/high settings (the current mod I mean). If I would buy my old PC again, which ran the mod on Mid without FPS lag, it would cost me maybe 300-400.Wouldn't worry too much, playing on medium settings is also playing :D/offtopicmode off
fire_hazard 19 Posted December 18, 2012 I am and will wait on news - real news on SA from Rocket and/or BI.This thread has gotten more like a food fight in a grade school.
tilen 19 Posted December 18, 2012 I for one think every developer has to go for a 'when it's done' approach, it prevents stuff like this from happening.Looks like you haven't experienced the Blizzard treatment yet.Jokes aside, the "when it's done" approach might not be so perfect as you might have us beieve. In fact, "when it's done" is pretty much the equivalent of saying nothing, but sounding smug about it. I'd rather not hear anything new than hearing "we're working on it so it'll be ready when it's ready." Oh gee wow, THANKS. Now I can't even pretend that there's gonna be some big announcment soon. mr_chabowski@live.co.uk 2416 Posted December 18, 2012 Unrealistic project deadlines are the bane of modern society. This is why a responsible cross-section of the population are steadily working toward the eradication of optimism in all its forms. ^_^

Xainn 61 Posted December 18, 2012 They are currently performing stress tests. By that I mean that they are seeing how stressed the community gets about empty promises and vague comments on random mediums that aren't related to the state of the game itself.
TheThinkTanker 26 Posted December 18, 2012 On the dev tumblr Rocket said they'd be willing to let the "end of the year" deadline slip if they had to. Honestly, at that point it felt like a guarantee that it would slip, unless they're planning for a big New Year's Eve Alpha release. We'll probably get some news of where they're at and why the deadline slipped before the end of the year, but not the standalone alpha. And that's okay. It has been a crazy year and I'm willing to let them take their time. Quality over speedy deadlines.
Ovation 52 Posted December 18, 2012 Who said the game is ready?Just speculations in this topic...1: He said at Eurogamer Expo that December is polishing month2: he said on reddit: "We're happy with how things are going" Also "But that meant achieving the december release is much harder, still because I'd made that promise it made the programmers work much harder."3: This hole post would not exist if the game was not ready "I could say "it has been delayed" but what has been delayed?"It would be speculation to say the game is NOT ready. Rocket would tell us very plainly if he had to push the date back because of the game being unfinished. But he hasn't instead he tells us "so saying it will be delayed would be incorrect, as it may not be delayed. But exactly how, what, and in what way of release" "there are many forms and ways to release something. The fact is, there are many things we COULD do""and we're checking to see that what we can do is the best for where we want to be in a few months time."" I could announce all these things but it is unfair until all those stakeholders involved have a chance to input as they are affected (or some, such as Steam, required to do some work as part of it)."i put it in this way so in hopes you understand, they are being held up by there stakeholders "unsure who but my guess would be B.E and Steam"they have a right to input on the release, and obviously they are still figuring out when to put the game out.but with this information they are ready as they had hoped, yes the game might be delayed to next year. but what i'm saying is expect is out soon. they will tell us about this once they have the green light on the plans. it is still very possible they will release this year
djshauny1 222 Posted December 18, 2012 Rocket still needs to make a post on here explaining what the situation is.Takes a couple of mins.I find this lack of news offputtingEspecially since he said he would update us last week.

naizarak 41 Posted December 19, 2012 I just want to play some standalone. I knew it was too much to hope for this month. >_>the standalone is just a technical overhaul, emphasis isn't on adding new features or expanding the dayz mod experience. they just want to move the game away from a mod and give it a proper foundation before fleshing everything out. Ovation 52 Posted December 19, 2012 (edited) Not totally truefully enter-able buildingsfull clothing systemsmoother moment animations.100-400 player servers.those are features already in the foundation at launch.possibly more also since at euro expo he also stated more melee weapons are already finished in the game.but yeah features are not priority...but those things alone will make the game much much better Edited December 19, 2012 by Ovation
pmjkerr 76 Posted December 19, 2012 Does Rocket not know that the world is ending in a couple of days? Fuck, at this rate none of us gonna get our hands on DayZ.
Jony_RocketInMyPocket 172 Posted December 19, 2012 (edited) Tin Foil hat moment:I wonder if Steam KNOWS how bad WarZ is, and since Steam gets like 30% commission on every sale, maybe Steam is intentionally holding back the release of DayZ just so they can squeeze some money out of the WarZ while it's still the only option (of the two) available. Plus, we all know once DayZ SA releases, WarZ will lose more than half of their sales right off the bat and probably more shortly there after.
