DayZ Standalone Confirmed

Recommended Posts

I hope he's not getting frustrated at his rustled community. Official date of release was December. Here we are halfway through December with no idea of what is going on. No one can blame anybody starting to get impatient for some news.

agree

So you won't be able to play DayZ mod Wasteland, and all other maps (Namalsk, Taviana...) with standalone?

No, but as for Wasteland, my friend read that the guy who made Wasteland (then everybody else copied it from him) is already preparing for Wasteland for Arma 3, and he will not release files, as it would get copied the same what happened to Wasteland for Arma2 and not credit was given.

Imagine that Wasteland on Arma 3 engine ..... I can't wait.

And BTW did you notice how this forum slowed down ... I guess "1,406,839" players refreshing looking for news on Dayz SA ...

DayZ is cancelled.

Rocket got fed up of the impatient, ungrateful little shits hassling him.

The Dev team is now working on licensed hi-tech "My Little Pony" titles for SEGA GameGear.

^_^

In all seriousness though. These fellas have been working their asses off, the least everyone could do is let them have their Christmas holidays.

To be fair, i'm sure everyone would have left them well alone, but Rocket is the one that said there was going to be an announcement by the end of last week. Really they have no grounds to complain on.

I would say, if we hear nothing by the end of this week, then we can say it was unfair of Rocket to come out with the statement regarding the announcement.

@squirrel - The only complainers are the "entitled".

Reasonable people appreciate that Rocket has already afforded us far more information and open discussion than most game developers could fathom.

Have a little patience. The guy's obviously busy, or otherwise engaged.

It's no reason to throw your toys out of the pram.

Actually, December is only some kind of a target date for release, not an official one. Rocket said in an interview that if the game's not yet ready for a December release, he would not release it because he's not willing to jeopardize the game.

Not to start with. Only Chernarus + will be available on release, but they're going to implement custom maps further into the future :)

Not quite the case.

If Rocket had not posted that "Big news this week" was coming then the amount of people complaining would be halved.

While i am more than happy to wait however long is needed for the release of the standalone, when the main man says "big news this week" you kinda expect big news......this week.

No idea, but Im really hoping for a new custom map. There is too much meta-gaming.

If only you guys could have experienced what I did way back when before there were guides, tutorials, maps etc...playing for the first time in the pitch black (before the gamma exploit was known).

I know this will fall on deaf ears; when the standalone comes out, do yourself a favour and do not look at maps/guides...the experience is 10x greater when you are truly lost in the woods.

Well alot of people did play like that to start with. I for one never even dared venture close to any cities for the first few days. Ended up starving to death quite alot. The horror, man, the horror and hopelessness of my situation in those days.

The man is likely doing things that should be considered more important than wasting the time it would take to explain the important things that he's doing.

He's more than earned the right to whip out, "Big news - Taking a fortnight off."

When Rocket lays out his plans, or announces an announcement (announcemenception?) it should come with the understanding that the ball is squarely in HIS court.

Every tidbit of info shared is done so as a favour to us. Whether you were led to expect something or not, badgering the dude isn't going to help any.

He's not just doing us a favor but to himself aswell. Marketing a product is what justifies the PR department. We are enttled to news simply because we were told, by him, that there was going to be some. Whether or not one will complain about this (i.e. there not being any news desite the announcment) or not, is an entirely different question.

A mature person will understand all the things you say, but they also have the right to say something when not getting what was promised. So why don't you do yourself a favor and stop speaking from some sort of a moral highground and equating every user on this forum, that speaks out, with a child.

Because you know what that makes you, right?

tl;dr get over yourself, sir.

DayZ doesn't need to be marketed dude, that job has already been handled by the community.

If I've offended you by pointing out the immaturity of some of the complainers, GOOD. Grow up.

Everything needs marketting, because the seller is entirely dependant on selling their product. Your statement is therefore entirely faulty, but let's leavi it at that.

And no, I'm not at all offended. I could be bacuse you've told me to grow up, but then I'm too mature to take you seriously now.

My posts are full of typos because I'm not used to writing on my laptop. I apologize but I'm not going to edit them because the forum seems to be working rather slowly.

1.4 million recorded DayZmod players surely will have no bearing on sales, right?

Bohemia Interactive (read: Rocket and pals) make quality games out of respect for their gaming communities and pride in their work.

The phrase "entirely dependant" is a little weighty. They make the games they WANT to.

Do you think because you're going to buy their product, they owe you? Sounds like YOU are the one who needs to get over themselves.

FYI. People who suffer the burden of maturity don't usually feel obligated to point it out.

Chill-out people, go and play the mod, the SA will be here soon. Any more questions about when will be detrimental to your health.

That's called Viral Marketing. It is one of the primary marketing strategies

DayZ does in fact need to be marketed just like anything else. If the company hadn't set up a website to advertise it, or started the viral marketing of the game, nobody would know about, or play it. Viral marketing is also the reason that dayz has an account with twitter, facebook, tumblr, reddit, and whatever other social networking site you wanna throw into this mix.

Btw, you know what happens to companies who are publicly traded who make promise of a large announcement and then don't deliver it?

I still stand behind the entire development team and look forward to the release of this product. I look forward to seeing what it is going to offer us. Also hope the development team has a great holiday and get to step away from the whirlwind of release to relax a bit with their friends and family.
