removal of thermal sights

Recommended Posts

i'm in possession of a l85a2 and i sadly have to agree that this gun is retardedly overpowered

there is no way to counter its thermal and it seems unrealistic in the post apocalyptic theme

right now i can scout 0,5-2km for heat signatures to see if there is anyone alive and it simply makes this game extremely easy

i scout for kills on top of a hill, swap to my sniper and get a free easy kill without actually having spot the player

there should rather be made a counter for thermal or complete removal of the sight

I disagree, when used with a stronger gun. yes it is a bit "Op".

However, when used by itself... It is a loud and low hiting weapon. Its only real use is indeed its nvg/thermal sights.

The only reason it should be removed in my eyes is due to item duplication, made by game bugs.

I think considering its rarity, should stay in, if not be made even more rare, if your characters been alive for a long period of time, its only fair really to have an advantage over newer players. (just my opinion).

Its not that rare tbh i've got 4 in my tent and its quite strong before i switched to my as50 i've used it as a main sniper being accurate up to 600 meters if you calculate the downfall correctly, it 3/4 hits players and in my oppinion the gu. should only have a nightvision scope

Right so if I've got an L85 with my sight pointed at your head is that not a counter to your thermal L85??

And just tell me are zombies realistic???

the l85 is a scouting tool wich takes 10 slots in your backpack. It is not "op". Shitty accuracy & shitty stoping power. It's perfectly balanced, deal with it.

oh, Lolz @ the as-50 being accurate only up to 600m.

Maybe i'll just troll the op... UMADBRO?

A Huey you hear coming from KM away and can therefor react/hide - how do you hide from thermal vision?

I'm talking abouth the l85 being acurate up to 600meters my longest shot with it is around 800ish, wound but not kill

As long as we got so many snipers in the game, this gun is imho not op, and a good counter measure against snipers. I see it well balanced. The real problem imho is the mass of all the high end weapons. If they'd be super rare, there would be more balanced fights for these weapons and they who got one would be then hunted. That's what i'd like to see.

I went shooting pigs the other night with a friend, the rifle was bolt action but it had a 12x thermal scope with nato rounds. This is in Australia a country with a largely unarmed populace (fuck the Aussie government for taking our guns). Anyway the point I am making is that thermal scopes are more common than you may think and the L85 is the main Brittish assault rifle so it would be fairly common as well.

this game is unfair and forgiving, which is the way it is meant to be, while some things like thermal may be op they are in the game for a reason. Just because you have thermal or not does not make you all of a sudden invincible. It gives you an advantage just like most other things in the game.

thermal cant see through stone or walls. just hide.

if you then say "how should i know he is looking at me?" well if he is hiding he has an advantage anyway as he would find you as soon as you move even without thermal. the human eye is made to spot things that move faster/slower than the speed of the enviroment.

BTW this is a military simulator. when making a weapon for war do you think the designers stop op and says "well this sniper is to strong. it would be unfair to use this 50.cal against the terrorist. I GOT IT. we resize it to the same bullets from the m-16"

thermal cant see through stone or walls.

So they do hide your thermal aura? Ok, wasn't sure about that.

I didn't want to complain about it, but comparing the advantage of having thermal vision with flying a Huey is just...a dumb comparison.

thick branches, glass doors/windows, stone walls/pillars, wooden walls/doors and anything metal hides your heat signature.

If you are alone there is always only a very small field of view that you can actually scan, and since you cannot see thru terrain, you have to basically check every few seconds if you want to make sure no one just comes around a corner and shoots you with a makarov.

Oh and it makes you incredibly paranoid, because every little speckle of heat signature could be another player..but since 75% of all signatures are Zeds or animals you will spend a lot of time almost shitting your pants because you're not sure if you actually saw another player or not.

As soon as the duping (intentional as well as unintentional) has gone, this weapon will be very rare indeed; provided there comes a database wipe, which really needs to be done at that point.

As I have said many times before the L85 is not overpowered, because to be overpowered there has to be balance in the first place.

Since this game is not made to be balanced like all the other shitty mainstream-evil-megacorporation-games are, there is no such thing as "op".
