izodn 37 Posted August 2, 2012 It's kind of sad. The most game-changing update I've needed so far has had no communication for over 55 hours. This update is suppose to fix the major artifacting caused by dead military corpses, and razor-wire (which I only see in front of door ways for some reason). I've been waiting for this update for some time. I've had artifacting for a couple of months now, and no it's not my hardware.I check the twitter, and announcements forums hourly expecting updates, communication, and info because the mod is in alpha stage. The team has a great product, but they're not very communicative. I'd hope for updates to keep the community informed. This next update has many people on-edge, needing information. The last update Rocket made, was a lock to a server for "1 hour", 55+ hours later, still no update.
mikhail 65 Posted August 2, 2012 I've had artifacting for a couple of months now, and no it's not my hardware.funny because I only had the artifacting after the last update and even with that bug it only happens once in a while. So if you've had this for a couple of months then there is something else going on with your system.
izodn 37 Posted August 2, 2012 (edited) funny because I only had the artifacting after the last update and even with that bug it only happens once in a while. So if you've had this for a couple of months then there is something else going on with your system.I can 100% guarantee it's not because of faulty hardware. If it's caused by my system's pieces in conjunction with each-other is a different scenario entirely. I've had NO other issues with any other game. None at all, not even a single instance with artifacting. ArmA 2 is the ONLY game I've had issues with artifacting with. Others have had the same problems, but I've managed since the latest patch. For me, the artifacting is always there, 100% of the time when player-placed razor wire is there, and every time there's a military corpse, only those. Hardware-based artifacting isn't picky, DayZ is.Also, I can avoid any artifacting if -- when playing -- I restart the client every hour after changing my profile's sceneComplexity to 100000 from 150000. Having this many restarts just to exist in Stary is ridiculous. Edited August 2, 2012 by Izodn

Dankine 377 Posted August 2, 2012 default video memory, close and re join. sorted it every time for friends and myself and it has yet to re-appear.such a minor bug. as they said, if you've been getting it for months that is something else.
Dev (DayZ) 113 Posted August 2, 2012 (edited) Well Rocket still has 2 items on his work in progress list: artifacting from military bodies and ammo count resetting. We should hear more once those issues have been added to the confirmed section. Not sure whats going on. I certainly expected to hear something from Dev by now.Hopefully something tonight!!I am not the Dev you are looking for though lol Edited August 2, 2012 by Dev
Kerbo 198 Posted August 2, 2012 The team has a great product, but they're not very communicative.I know, it's not like Rocket and friends are constantly in the forums directly interacting with the community. Oh wait...Go away troll.

But I've literally tried every fix. So if you've had this for a couple of months then there is something else going on with your system.not likely. the bug existed in 1.7.2.3 i used to hit it often. restarting the client fixes it. the bug has been around for a while, but it is getting exposed a bit more in 1.7.2.4. i doubt he has any problems other than he's running an alpha stage mod that has bugs. t1337dude 101 Posted August 2, 2012 Yea, I'm in dire need of this fix too. I play this game on 2 separate PCs I own and sitting around Balota just gives me painful artifacting on both systems after awhile. No other game I own comes even close to driving my GPU's temps as high as this one. I can even turn it to low settings and my cards will just shoot up to 90+ C. Persason 15 Posted August 2, 2012 I cant wait for the login timer fix so far I wait like 10 minutes to join any server.... Oh yea and I can't wait until Rocket realizes that battleye sucks and that maybe he should use VAC or even punkbuster just something that works... Battleye welcomes hackers....

reddeer01 5 Posted August 2, 2012 Artifacting? Anyone care to elaborate? Is it that annoying graphical error i get near military places that takes over my screen until i re-jig some settings (ever since the last patch). Just wondering because i've always been wondering how to describe or reference the issue.
DarkwaveDomina 1099 Posted August 2, 2012 It'll be done when it's done.

Battleye welcomes hackers....No offence, but I've experienced hackers on LARGE scales with any anti-cheat, any. Programming your own anti-cheat is by far the best way to fend off hackers. Using something you can download for SDK or any dev purposes like BattlEye and VAC can be reverse engineered by the hackers.Artifacting? Persason 15 Posted August 2, 2012 calling vac or punkbuster working anti cheats is pretty hilarious.Nothing works 100% but they certainly work better than battleye. Compared to Arma2 you rarely see hackers in games protected by VAC or Punkbuster.

Compared to Arma2 you rarely see hackers in games protected by VAC or Punkbuster. You're kidding, right? COD and BF games are rife with aimbot/wallhack software suites. Punkbuster is a waste of time.I've encountered much less cheating in DayZ than I have in COD or BF2/BC2/BF3. They are much more popular, but the point stands. tarquinbb 28 Posted August 2, 2012 (edited) we all want the patch to come out ASAP.however, most people are patient.... like they have other things they can do with their time besides start negative threads along the lines of "THIS IS A F***ING OUTRAGE! WTF ARE THE DEVS DOING FOR THIS 100% FREE GAME??? IT NEEDS A FIX NOW - WHERE THE HELL DID MY $0 GO??? BECAUSE IT CERTAINLY DIDNT GO TO THE DEVS!!!"the artifacts make the game totally unplayable for me, but since i didn't give the devs a penny i will suck it up and wait for them to release a fix. Yes hackers are inevitable, but they can certainly be held back and even stopped if the right tools are applied battleye does not count as a well functioning anti hack tool. I am not a programmer, however I have never feared hackers before until now. I play Dayz and fear getting hacked I have already tried it 6 times and I have played it for less than a month... I have never had to fear them in say CoD or BF.... Obviously something is wrong here and I am not blaming Rocket but more the anti-cheat tool he uses... It is most definitely not.

DayZ has built a community of near 1 million players, and weather or not we paid, if there's demand, there's a debt. I'm not demanding anything from the dev team, I'm simply saying their communication is low, and their product is high, that's mostly good. Your immatation of me complaining about my money badly spent and full-caps rage is wrong. For some reason Rocket has this conception of ArmA's engine being good. Why the hell does he think that. It is most definitely not.The engine it'self is actually really good, really mod-welcome, and friendly to developers. The engine's security is a different story, it's a good engine.
