Petition to Boycott Standalone (until hacking is resolved)
chefwillis replied to HITPhoenix's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Pretty much. Hope he doesn't use the ArmA II engine though -_- -
Alright so my friend and I were on a server I had d/ced but he stayed in all of the sudden he tells me that he sees a message that says "One of these days Alice, straight to the moon." and he got teleported to the top of the map with everyone except a guy named "Chardo440". Everyone died except him, I was watching the messages on the bottom left. It didn't happen until he joined so I'm going to throw out that Chardo440 is a hacker if battleye or someone could globally ban him, that would be great. There were only 4 people on the server other than me and he was the only one not to die.

1.7.2.5 still no sign from Dev-Team
chefwillis replied to izodn's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I understand the viewpoint from a dev's perspective when making mods, but it isn't up to par in my opinion to today's engines. It has a lot of things but it also lacks a lot. Not to mention all the bugs it has, clipping issues, well just a lot of issues I don't feel like listing them all. -

For some reason Rocket has this conception of ArmA's engine being good. Why the hell does he think that. It is most definitely not. -

You don't even know what a troll is. Welcome to the internet, we're glad you could join us. -
Everyone by now is probably aware of the horrible artifacting that is caused by the dead soldier's bodies. Rocket is working on it but it seems he hasn't found a fix for it. So I simply propose removing the artifact causing corpses. All of them. You can't see them because of it and they're causing massive graphical issues, so there is every reason to be rid of them.

Zombies are Mike Tyson
chefwillis replied to joevella.ns@gmail.com's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
This happened to me today at the NE airfield. Got punched was knocked out and lost 6k blood instantly. Didn't die as I had 10k blood. But it's a little ridiculous. I don't know how it happened, I couldn't have got shot, my friend was with me didn't hear shots neither did I nor was I in a place I could get sniped at I was inside a building, it was because I had zombies on me and they hit me. This is ridiculous and it really shouldn't happen. Please Rocket, do something about it. I am on 1.7.2.4. -
Highly doubt it will fix anything. I'm not trying to be pessimistic but we aren't dealing with professionals here. They are experimenting, trying to see what works and what doesn't. Currently I can't get into a single game of 1.7.2.3 due to ridiculously long long "loading" times. Also that fix isn't really working, anyone else have any suggestions? Whatever happened to the good old days where I would load within seconds. Seriously hardly anything has changed in the mod since then, just an increase of glitches and errors. I'd much rather deal with the hackers than deal with this shit. It's getting more unplayable with each patch that goes by. If increased security means increased problems. Then I choose lack of security.

Don't rant. It's annoying. I read like maybe 2 lines. And guess what if you read the posts it says that it will be either tonight or most likely Tuesday. Hence the Tuesday on the 1st post. He didn't release it because they were working on possible issues that were pointed out on this thread and then later said depending on how the fixes go it will either be yesterday[Wednesday], tonight[Thursday], or Tuesday because they don't want to release it over the weekend. P.S. Actually I care more about these fixes than hackers honestly. Hackers are an issue, but you obviously don't know how difficult it is to secure a game from hackers that you didn't even make, let alone one that you did. P.P.S. If you think there is a hacker leave the game, telltale signs include, explosions, jets, helicopters, people raging over hackers, a large number of people leaving at once, etc... Thinking, it works.

Yup gamespy/hive is down or something. Would've been nice to see some sort of notification.
-
I disagree with everything except durability, number of zombies, and duping. Everything else is fine as is. It's not about making the game super-realistic, it's about creating a fun, hardcore experience. Zombies being smart? Doesn't make sense, they're dead, they have no intelligence, only instinct. The guns make DayZ, DayZ. It would be purely a running simulator if you take away the number of guns and going into town would be retardedly difficult. Too much food and water spawns? Absolutely not. The fact that you sometimes have die from food and water is enough. The threat isn't your metabolism, it's the apocalypse.

I was thinking the same thing lol
-
Thank you I was actually wondering how to do that. You just saved for a crap load of time. Thank god tents are being fixed, it's the main reason I've been hesitant to play.
-
Rocket, is there any word on the tents? Like is this even a priority right now or are you guys working on it or anything of that nature? As well as the zombie walking through walls glitch, as these are my two biggest worries in the game atm, other than hackers.

Isn't alt+f4 a windows command shortcut? Not a game shortcut so logging it would be difficult. That's probably why. Logout timers aren't for games like this too many random variables to take into account. The character staying in game has been tried before, it failed so an alternative approach is being attempted.
