Helicopters should be taken away forever

This thread is not for picking on each other. It was just a suggestion and I'm interested in hearing how the other players feels about it. No need to prove who is better than who.

Yes, to green on a server with 30 people online almost all the time. My group is made of 6 people.

I'm not saying a military background can't exist, it's just really highly improbable.

You would be surprised by how many people haven't managed to take my chopper down then just by shooting at it. I've been downed some times but it usually took some time and was because my team got ambushed and killed so they couldn't provide me ground support.

The point of this part of the forum is to make suggestions. I don't know if you get what that means.

Also, why would you want to remove the chopper? If it takes away from the game for you, DON'T USE IT! Let someone else have it, hell, give it to me! I've never seen a single vehicle in this game, and I've been playing for over a month! Not a single hacker nor vehicle. If you prefer to use land vehicles, blow it up! Or give it away and stop bitching about it.

Hmm... I suppose you're right in the fact that I've never had a vehicle so I can't say anything, and there is a certain charm to walking the map with a friend and setting up a campfire in the woods to sit around for a bit and talk (seriously, that was an awesome moment for me an my cousin, very immersive). But the way you talk about it, why not stop using it and give it to someone else? if you don't like it, give it away, let them decide if they want it or not, otherwise you're being a hoarder. Make sense? Also, sorry if I came off like a little kid with my typing, I just woke up an I'm alittle impatient.

If this is a suggestion as you have said it is, then make your suggestion and allow others to make theirs.

I'm quoting and replying because that is how a discussion goes, you make a point and I refute or agree. I then make mine and you refute or agree.

That is what we did on the first 2 replies I think, then it turned into a keyboard battle. Sorry for that.

Maybe some time in the future. My group isn't really into pvp. We just like to sit around the fire and eat marshmallows like the good carebears we are.

I would suggest looking at usual camp places like near NW airfield and the north of the map. Usually you can find at least one camp near the NW part of the map.

I agree that it's weird since we are supposedly all normal civilians that you can repair and fly a chopper no problems.

I think they should stay though. I have yet to see one at all. Plus they aren't invincible. I don't know how realistic the game is, but if a couple of people with larger caliber rifles shoot at it, you can take one down or at least make everyone in it shit themselves pretty easily.

I agree they should be totally removed. I am not a fan of them and at times i'm frustrated with vehicles but I have been using two of them so to have non glitchy storage since our tents seem to either not work or be stuck on the contents they have had since the owner died.

Anyway. I agree with OP. I know they are fun as shit but they just don't fit. Not that I would be totally irate if they stayed in, I just think it would make so much more sense if they were taken out.

Helicopters should not be in DayZ.

The reasons:

- How the heck does a survivor knows how to fly a freaking helicopter?

- Finding pieces to fix a helicopter? In a country in the middle of nowhere after a zombie apocalypse? Really?

- Same as first one, how the heck does a survivor knows how to repair a helicopter?

- Helicopters make it way easier to move around the map making players explore less, have less contact with people and easy access to all military loot points.

- Helicopters make it too easy to find other peoples camps making it kinda unfair to the players who don't access to one (this one is debatable since the player who has a heli probably had to work for it)

Please do post your opinion, this isn't a troll topic or anything. It's just my view about helicopters in this mod and how it detracts from gameplay.

The mysteriousness of seeing and hearing a heli fly over when your a newbie is worth having them in the mod alone. But they could be scripted AI pilots just flying over every few hours and not landing or anything, and over only a section of the map, just for the atmosphere...

No problems with helis in general. Real heli's are not all that hard to fly, its the getting them started part that would be hard for this sim player.

Give us guns that can damage helicopters, and make weakpoints in a heli more obvious.

Shoot the rotor, then the heli will have a hard time steering, then shoot all the rotor joints and you will get a nice heli crash!
