I find weapons pretty quick when checking the small villages and deer stands since you have about 1 hour before you have to to drink/eat.Try to avoid the big towns and coast line if possible.

What's very apparent from this thread is that dayz provides an incredibly broad spectrum of experiences. I've only ever had weapons because found a - yes, it's awful - Lee Enfield, or because someone like Stiffy gave me his weapon when he got deaded by the dead. I'd never been near an automatic rifle before. It felt like the Holy Grail, to treated with respect and awe.

So some people have been lucky enough to get weapons easily and others not. This is your lot. I feel for those of you who are struggling, I am too. It's a bitch not being able to look at a compass when you find one because k just isn't doing anything and when you ask for help in the forums, idiots with jam for brains say "read the manual, it's K" like you haven't been reading every manual you can find, watching every dayz youtube vid and pressing every key on your keyboard. *sighs*

DEER STANDS: I avoid them for now if I need anything decent. The last few trips have been disappointing. There were a few roaming Zs around, which was not a problem, but 2 kept spawning inside the legs of the deer stand. Once you're at the ladder, they will clip through and get you.

Anyhow, nothing but random junk, bandages and maybe a water bottle in the stands themselves.

The Walkers, however, were loaded. I was annoyed at the waste of a trip so I started hacking with my hatchet and got some pistols off the dead soldiers.

So, try the stands if you want but if they are empty... well I guess you have nothing to subdue a walker with so... at least you might have some water and extra bandages.

Not sure what you're referring to. Yes, supposedly pine trees will break the zombie's LOS and cause them to lose you, but I don't recall giving that advice to anyone.

Anyway, if I do have a zombie chasing me in the hills, yeah, I pretty much just run for it and try to zigzag through the trees. It takes awhile, but eventually the zombies leave me alone. It doesn't matter much because so long as you are sprinting the zombies can't hit you. If it takes you 30 seconds or 8 minutes to lose the zombie its no different (so long as you aren't trying to stay quiet from other players).

I'm having the same problems.. I've tried 4 times now the longest being about a 2 hour stint of crawing all over towns & out side towns to find not a single weapon. I've found 1 hand gun so far but it was on a dead body, but I've found countless amounts of ammo and other junk.

I've used this map, http://dayzdb.com/map on the 2 hour stint I liturally checked every single location listed in Kamehka, pluss two of the tree stands that are shown on the map to the noth finally dying at the Barn shown to the north between Kamenka & Komarovo. On a diffrent try I made it up to Pavlovo and into the out skirts of Zelenogorsk check tree stands and so on but found no guns only ammo and ended up dying.

I've had 4 atempts where I lived a reasonable amount of time and a few atempts I didn't live long but ?I've yet to find a gun anywhere. I'm not looking for easy mode as I'm a long time EVE online player and used to hard sand box game, but in all honestly It's getting extreemly boring crawing around with 20 zombies all over the place and nothing to show for it except start over..

I've looked through the map checking the locations that are supposed to spawn weapons but have yet to find anything but road flares & ammo.. and a axe that I couldn't even use to hit a Zombie with among other small utility things..

Barns and churches are almost guaranteed to have some kind of a weapon, military camps have weapons like AKs, glocks, etc., civilian houses can have maps and stuff like makarovs and enfields....

What's so hard to find? If you said vehicles okay but weapons? lolz

Basically what you do is find barns, gear up a little, mostly with medical then move up north to the airfield and get good weaponry and NVG's. Once that is done you'll get murdered by bandits and you'll slowly learn how to find loot easy.

Dude, I understand your frustration, but seriously, stop crying. With that said, you'll become more and more familiar with the game. You'll learn how and where to find weapons with ease pretty soon. If you spent as much time trying to understand the game as you did whining about it you would be well on your way to becoming a successful DayZ player.

Learn to check every worthwhile building on/near the coast. That includes deer stands, the Balota airfield ATC tower and hangars, the numerous deer stands at Balota, Cherno, Elektro and barns. It takes my friends and I about 5-20 minutes to get ALICE packs, AKs, sidearms, DMRs, blood bags, food, drinks, etc etc. We just know where, when and how to look. You'll get to that point sooner or later. Take a deep breath next time the game frustrates you and realize it's only a game. It should always be a challenge otherwise it wouldn't be a game. Is this a fucking first person shooter or what? So far I've just been running around, using the poorly designed pick up items system to try and scavenge fucking empty cans of cola, sweeeet. I haven't found a single fucking weapon to defend myself with, I found a hunting knife a minute ago and was like sweet something to defend myself with finally, NOPE, no dice. It's a fucking hunting knife but you can't protect yourself with it. I've watched tutorial videos where the stupid fuck walks into a building and finds THREE WEAPONS. Do I just have the worst fucking possible luck or what? If I take a few hits, which is pretty unavoidable using the shitty pick up items system, my vision starts to go fucking haywire then I can't even see any items if I wanted to. Zombies chase you for fucking ever, and without some way to fucking fight them this game is fucking ridiculously stupid.

No this is not a first person shooter, it is just a game that takes place from the first person perspective. You should avoid shooting unless necessary.

1: find a axe you can find it almost everywhere

2: go to balota military camp and silently kill those zombies with that axe

3:loot the deer stands in the military camp (military loot)

4: if those guns arent enough go to balota airstip it just some meters up from the military camp (but be careful lots and lots "mean" players there)

5:congratilations now u should have some real guns to survive with and next step is...

6:cherno, i recommend that you go to cherno with a small group

I have had the luck of taking 20mins from a fresh spawn and having an alice pack, lee einfield, 1911 and enough supplies to go up north(map, compass, matches, etc). You just have to learn the buildings to loot. I had to teach my friend who just started just by looks which buildings have possible loot.

You also need to not just straight haul ass through a city/town or farm area. You have to actually think about it, use the sight and sound meter. Also just a tip...if you have walkers chasing you...just find a big bush or the big fern looking trees and go prone near them. Most of the time if you do it right the zombies will de aggro.
