Alexzo 17 Posted July 29, 2012 I found this crossbow, but they are useless unless shooting inside a house or something. You can't hit a zombie with a crossbow when running. And when you miss, you'll never find the arrows again. And you have very few.I suggest that:-arrows should be stackable to like 5 each stack.-easier to find arrows in grass/stone/wood/zombies when shot-easier to pick up, because they are so thin, they are hard to select-and a whole other thing, fix the zombies god damn zigzag....Thx alot for reading, -Alexzo
WisdomSnork 42 Posted July 29, 2012 I agree with all of this and grant my beans.
Baelethal 102 Posted July 29, 2012 (edited) While I agree that bolts would be lovely if they stacked, I disagree with most of your other points....Learn 2 Crossbow?Zed zigzag is just the way the pathing works with the engine. They might get better. I'm kinda fond of their zigzaginess. Gives them some character. It's ok if you lose bolts-- you can't always find your arrows in grass and brush in real life either. Have you ever tried finding a bolt that went a little off target... it's not as simple as it sounds. It should take some time scanning the surrounding ground for it. Dancing.Russian.Man 1631 Posted July 29, 2012 1. Stacked crossbow bolts have already been suggested multiple times. (Including by me, though I suggested stacks of 3.)2. How would they become easier to find? I sure don't want a glowing beacon over the bolts.3. This I agree with.4. NO. The zombies are too easy as it is. (Besides the superhearing, but that's another thing.)
Teiwaz 45 Posted July 29, 2012 Playing with crossbow and aggroed Z's?You're doing it wrong! At daytime I never lost a single bolt that didn't miss - they're quite easy to find in daylight. For nighttime just go prone and crouch into the body - most of the time you'll see a part of the bolt. WalBanger 11 Posted July 29, 2012 As far as ammo goes I believe with crossbows there is a thing you click onto it that holds bolts for you, in real life I mean????So maybe have upto 6-10 bolts attached to the crossbow taking up no slots in inventory, and that's all you can carry!!!!Or same as above AND then have stacks in you inventory (again 6-10's) taking up 1 slot and to put them from bag to crossbow takes 5seconds each bolt?I'm loving my crossbow right now, but the ammo is a bit annoying, I have to throw away other useful stuff :-(
Obsolescence 129 Posted July 29, 2012 It's almost as if there is an intentional trade off for having the only silenced weapon in the game that you can recover ammo for.
zython (DayZ) 196 Posted July 29, 2012 Additionally they should be found in stacks.
WalBanger 11 Posted July 29, 2012 It's almost as if there is an intentional trade off for having the only silenced weapon in the game that you can recover ammo for.Lol I get your point but it's a useless weapon in PVP (unless they are already near dead) and surely the 1 shot and huge reload time and limited range is the trade off? With out me having to always be low on food drinks and other important things?

Perhaps this is a weapon intended to be used as a silent hunting / infiltration tool to go about your business in the wild without attracting the attention of players or zombies. You can always use 13 slots in your backpack to carry it and 3 bolts so you can use it for hunting and another weapon for anticipated PvP encounters. The weapons shouldn't be balanced so that all players appreciate them equally. I personally don't like the crossbow because I don't like the play-style you need to adopt to be effective with it. However, I know plenty of people who swear by the crossbow and I don't want to infringe on their enjoyment just because it isn't my cup of tea. Obsolescence 129 Posted July 29, 2012 -and a whole other thing, fix the zombies god damn zigzag....Sorry for the double-post, but I wanted to address this complaint. Everyone is always whining about the zig-zagging zombies. I personally came to DayZ for a challenging experience. Zombies that run straight at you are not challenging. Zombies that zig-zag while swarming you are challenging. If you don't like a challenge, you may enjoy L4D instead of DayZ. If it bothers you that these mindless zombies run like a soldier trying to evade fire, consider that perhaps all of the zombies that ran in straight lines are already dead because they were so easy to kill B)

HMS 115 Posted July 31, 2012 Being surrounded by walking dead all around, you might have enough shit to worry about without picking fights with other humans. If you should find yourself in a situation where you need to defend yourself from a firearm, I suggest getting the hell out of there if your only choice is medieval technology. But yes picking up the bolts is impossible. I don't know if there is much they can do about that but it would be nice.
sickest 9 Posted July 31, 2012 100% agree. i dont even bother picking them up since bolts take a slot for each. and they are such a bitch to find out in the wilderness. stacks of 5 would be great! like u can pick up 5 then go into gear and bundle them. natebot88 7 Posted August 5, 2012 Welp it's been suggested that once you hit a zombie with a bolt it should be added to their inventory. As for the player, maybe it should stick on the body, since there may not be room for the bolt to be stored. Or maybe a separate slot for bolts perhaps?
