I was thinking, and Bandits really only have 2 true purpouses for the game...

1) They weed out the non hardcore/die hard Dayz lovers

2) They piss people off to the point that the create more bandits/bandit hunters.

Thoughts?

And they add a dimension to the game that is necessary/fun. When I go to a high risk area I'm on high alert. I don't just run in and take stuff as I would if I didn't think a bandit(s) would be waiting for me.

Honestly, if you could walk into Stary whenever you wanted, exchange ammo with the friendly survivor sitting at the campfire, then set off into the fields you'd be so bored of this game within 2 weeks that you'd never play again.

I'm not a Bandit, nor do I think they're the best part of the game... but they DO serve a purpose. Plus, how fun is it to stumble upon a group of campers, launch a grenade at them and collect the spoils?

The real issue with bandits is: ALT+F4!

Everytime I hear shots, I assume it's bandits.

Everytime I see a player, I assume he's a bandit.

Adds to the atmosphere. Simple as that.

It's not that there's a problem with the existence of bandits, it's that here's a problem with the prevalence. Shoot on sight is kind of boring as well to be honest. I don't mind creeping around the apocalypse, but the fact that I can say with 90% certainty that the proper solution when I see movement in the distance is to open up on them before they do the same to me....well, that's unfortunate.

Only "problem" I see is, that everyone is so fucking paranoid now that everybody WILL stab/shoot you in the back for almost nothing, even if they're no bandits and never intended to play as a bandit. Just because everyone expects the other player to do it and it's better to take the first shot.

So maybe the problem doesn't come from bandits but from us survivors who have to start trusting each other again? ;)

The problem is, there is ONLY bandits.

I have theory on these guys. I'm guessing they are just really really bad at actual competitive games. So they come here to shoot the unarmed. If someone is a threat, by all means take them out. But killing fresh, defenseless spawns is just getting old.

My purpose as a bandit is to eliminate anything that might stand between me and survival. If you speak over direct chat, that just gives me a better chance to eliminate you while you talk. However, if you are not in my path, I will not go out of my way to kill you. It is just a game, and anyone can be killed. I am no more special than anyone else. May the best man win.

In the end, we are all just trying to survive so that we may fight another day... :murder:

Man is the ultimate game.

I get bored once I have big bag, unlimited ammo and supplies. Once you are at that point I feel like I have only three options.

#1 - Go find crash helicopters, an airfield or Army Tents and look for upgrades.

#2 - Find a car and do it up to drive; and then do #1.

#3 - Hunt humans.

Rocket has talked about this a fair bit and hopefully soon there will be more options once you have the items you need.

Exactly, well said Nemish. Rocket has said that bandit prevalence is not the issue... the issue is a lack of things to do in the game.

The trust issues only exist because people care so much. I have been killed by 3 players who posed as friendly survivors. However, I have met 10 or so randoms who I have worked with without any issues of backstabbing. Getting killed sucked, and I made note of their names in case I ran across them another time, but it's part of the game.

The only reason you're shooting people on sight is because you're paranoid. If you don't give people a chance, they'll always be bandits to you.
