Pre the handgun nerf I always rolled with a 1911. Single body shot and Zeds are down.

Now I like a G17 or a PDW. just because they hold more ammo in each magazine. If Ikeep calm and line up the Zeds indoors I can average around two shots to kill each zed, which is a mixture of headshots and bodyshots.

to topic: i think revolver and 1911 are better in the south, since ammo is ubiquitare and can be transformed into each other.

when going to north, g17 is just as good, bigger mag (more shots with the same backpack) and quiet. flashlight never hurts

G17 is way more multi-purpose. Everyone has said it...high rate of fire, flashlight, etc. Also, I find as much G17 ammo as I do 1911 or .45 ACP. I'd save the bag room for a 2nd primary weapon and drop the 1911.

So you're telling me the Makarov does as much damage as a Revolver? :lol:

Revolvers hold too few bullets so its a shit gun. And the bullet drop is very high.

G17 iron sights are better in my opinion and you have to reload less in case you have a lot of zeds aggroed. All sidearms take about the same shots to kill to the body now. I feel as though the G17 is superior since the nerf.

"The G17 is 90%+ effective with 4 shots to center mass on a zombie, and holds 17 rounds in a magazine. It can also be used with the M9 Beretta magazines, 9mm cartridge being used in both pistols.

ASSUMING body shots only, this presents a problem. The 1911 and Revolver kill 2 zombies a reload, but the G17 can kill 4 a reload. Advantage, Glock.

Headshots: no discussion needed. Any headshot from any pistol will bring down a zed. So, let's do the math for headshots. 6 kills/reload using a Revolver, 7 kills/reload using a 1911, and 17 kills/reload using a G17.

Other bonuses: Refire rate. Revolver: Slow, 1911: Moderate, G17, pretty darn quick.

Flashlight: Revolver: none, 1911, none, G17: Yep

Sights: Revolver: great, 1911: Oh my God what did you do to my 1911 sights, they..., G17: Perfect, with night sights, to boot!

Ammunition: .45ACP, Almost everywhere, 9mm, uncommon - rare. *This is the BIGGEST disadvantage"

I would say G17. It has a flashlight, it has better sights than M1911, shoots faster, has lower recoil and has bigger magazine. Only disadvantages are: Low damage and rare ammo.

Id take the G17 I used to use the 1911 but after the nerf its useless the sights suck and it takes 3-4 body shots to kill a zombie.

After the nerf the M1911 has no reason to be used anymore, tbh, unless you haven't got another weapon. The G17 is, imo, now the best pistol in the game due to it's RoF and ammo count, not to mention the flashlight. The PDW is my second choice as it's deadly in CQC and for headshotting zombies you got a massive ammo count that takes up very few slots.

M9SD is another good choice due to the high ammo count (15) and the fact that it's silenced. I'd only use it vs zombies, though, seeing as how it's a bit lacking in accuracy.

Before it was nerfed a few patches back, I preferred the 1911 over any other side arm. It really was a no-brainer. Plentiful ammo and there was no need to bother head-shotting zeds.

Now, I prefer the G17 because it holds more considerably more ammo and is way more accurate. Prefer the sights, too. But, that's after my initial gear up and I've found plenty of mags.

But, very early game when I'm doing much more scavenging and zed killing, I prefer any of the pistols for which ammo is plentiful (Macaroni, 1911, revolver). Usually, I'm only using my sidearm on zeds and going for head shots. The only thing that matters to me at that point is ammo.

First off, it depends on the player. If you can headshot a charging zombie every time, G17 is probably the best weapon. However, for people like me you need to aim for the body to ensure the target goes down.

I have tested the .45 sidearms extensively in the latest patch and I am absolutely confident that a single body hit is enough to down a civilian zombie. I am pretty confident but not certain that it takes two body shots on a military one, but I mostly have to kill those at deerstands. There, you can use a long gun without any problems.

I stick to the M1911 for sidearm for the readily available ammunition and the style points, but I might give the G17 a spin tonight and count the body shots needed.

This. 1911 is my second favorite side arm, only trumped by the PDW due to it's high round mag's, accuracy, and ability to use any other 9mm mag.

For me, damage doesn't even enter into it. If you're using a pistol, it's headshot or nothing... all pistol damage is too insignificant otherwise.

That leaves accuracy, capacity, and attachments, and my hierarchy is as follows...

The only true advantage the M1911 has is the infinite ammo exploit.
