cheeki_breeki 63 Posted May 22, 2012 Hospitals. Very rare. How about increasing the drop chance up to atleast 10% instead of 0.22%.Because we sure know what will be the new hotspots for bandits.
karbiner 29 Posted May 22, 2012 And will we get a little reset? I Spawned FAR AWAY from a town so I got raped by the rain before i could find a barn, only to find out barns are not really waterproof xDTempVal 0. Also make wood take 1 slot instead of 2? :O
terrvik 2409 Posted May 22, 2012 Will the temperature go the other way as well? If i run like a maniac in the sun, will my thirst levels go down rapidly? It makes sense. Going for a long trek on a sunny day? Stick to the shades under the trees and bring lots of water.
demazi99 1 Posted May 22, 2012 Hotfix .2 seems to have NAILED it.
Samoflan 3 Posted May 22, 2012 I love the new temp mechanic. I'm surviving the elements now!
demazi99 1 Posted May 22, 2012 I think that keeping your body temperature is much more important than having antibiotics, so you won't really need them as far as you make a fire here and there, and avoid running in the rain.
joegti10 2 Posted May 22, 2012 A server reset to about an hour ago would be cool...
Wüstenfuchs (DayZ) 105 Posted May 22, 2012 I temperature feature is nice! Thanks rocket! :)
Powell (DayZ) 734 Posted May 22, 2012 Hotfix .2 seems to have NAILED it.Exactly. As long as it goes up while moving, and doesn't drop so fast, im good.
karbiner 29 Posted May 22, 2012 Add 1 bottle of antibiotics in the starterkit? that would fix the noobs getting aids because they hadnt had the chance to get woods and matches :)(And so we can kill them for easy antibiotics :D)
Statch 0 Posted May 22, 2012 I don't like this idea.By the way, the cold is caused by a virus. Antibiotics are for bacterial infections.
radioghost 2 Posted May 22, 2012 What if environment doesn't affect temperature gauge, but rather proximity to corpses and zombies does? It would effectively become an "infection" meter. Once you hit a certain threshold, you got sick.
BulletPROZ 5 Posted May 22, 2012 so far... i started playing for 1 hour with the hotfix and my temp is currently 37... i try going inside and it still a small decrease. i tried making a fire in a house.... nothing happened... just disappeared... didnt get sick yet but i probally will soon.... and i think the temperature/sick system is not really needed. also THE RIGHT CLICK IS HORRIBLE..... i hate how i have to use it for bandages.... and sometimes i accidentally use some... giganteus 1 Posted May 22, 2012 Its a complex matrix:Increase- Moving (faster = more)- Fire (very large increase)- Inside Building- Sunshine (midday = most)Decrease- Night (little)- Raining (lots)- Wind (some)- Water (HEAPS)Hmm still needs some work, then. I've been inside a couple of buildings and it hasn't increased just stopped decreasing. Also running didn't increase it, either. It still plummets (alarmingly fast) even while doing so. This is in the day.I like this temp thing. Just needs more improvement so it's not insanely unreasonable.
FUBAR1945 2 Posted May 22, 2012 Remove this feature allready. It's lame IMO. You have to find wood, matches in citys crawled with bandits and zombies, and that is allready really hard wen is day time + 10x at night. Please remove this, its not a real life simulator. These useless features are going to long.Next thing, "time to take a shit, find a bathroom before you die with shit up in your ass"

Nedak 10 Posted May 22, 2012 I still don't like it, it's extremely unrealistic for a game that is built on realism.
mrcheapy 1 Posted May 22, 2012 Temp is a bit too much...Slowly dieing because I don't have matches-_-
oktyabr 53 Posted May 22, 2012 I just want more matches! And maybe a way to build a fire indoors.
theurbanhitman 0 Posted May 22, 2012 Okay... let me start off by saying, this Temperature Value system is miserable... Now let me provide some input on how to improve it. The first way will be more along the lines of the current system, the second will be an entirely new system.First System:Okay to make the Temperature Value system better a few things can be done. You can greatly increase the Temperature Value at the start thus taking longer for you to begin to "freeze your ass off." If we don't take that approach then we take a more balancing of gameplay approach. You must add more logs and more matches, more than likely to the point they become one of the most available items in the game. Either that or make a way that flares can be used as a heat source or be used to light logs.Second System:This system is a far more aggressive approach and requires a lot of change. First off, the current system is rather unrealistic. Your body temperature wouldn't start going down under the current terrain conditions (assuming its day and not raining). Your body, in real life, goes through a process of homeostasis where it tries to maintain its body temperature constantly at around 98 degrees Fahrenheit. Now, if the system was changed so that during the day, with optimal conditions, your body maintained 98 degrees, that would be fine. And if you were outside while it was raining your temperature drop, but as soon as you got indoors your temperature began to rise again, that would be fine. Make it a REALISTIC temperature system if you really want this mod to be accurate. Maybe make it so that your body temperature starts to go down if your hungry or thirsty because your body isn't getting the proper nutrients required to maintain homeostasis. simasz 15 Posted May 22, 2012 running should restore some temperature, at least for a short period
HoboWithAGlock 25 Posted May 22, 2012 I understand the idea, but in reality, you don't need a whole system in order to facilitate a sickness mechanic. Realistically, the only way a player's temperature would noticeably change is through interaction with water. Outside of that (given the clothing that the characters wear) there is no reason for a change in body temperature.Considering that there are only two different scenarios where one comes into contact with water (either in an ocean/lake/pond or in the rain) making a temperature system in general convolutes the whole process and in the end allows for a myriad of problems to occur, as shown in the post-update reactions.Instead, I feel like all you'd have to do is implement a system wherein the player runs the risk of becoming sick or developing some sort of problem after experiencing enough exposure to water without protection (which may eventually be implemented at some point). If the player does not warm themselves up enough afterward through fire, exercising*, or otherwise they can then become sick. This sickness can take different forms depending on what they may have caught or what degree of exposure they had.*for sake of argument let's assume that sweating won't be taken into accountThe point, in the end is that the emphasis should be on a sickness mechanic rather than a temperature mechanic. This, in turn, will allow for a greater focus on what the temperature system was put in place to facilitate rather than the methods by which the players encounter this system. This temperature simplification (in essence an altogether removal) makes the whole process not only easier to understand, but hopefully easier to modify in the future. I'd hope, eventually, that the sickness system could be complex enough to incorporate real infections from actual wounds and allow for different medications for different illnesses.Anyway, just a point that I was thinking about. I can't see rocket removing the system altogether, although I certainly hope some sort of medium can be reached.
