Awesome! FTP is working.

Umm not sure whats up but the Server Restarts tab is only letting me select one restart time and one message? The rest are greyed out and can't be enabled. or does that work locally and not through like an Rcon restart?

It's not functional yet. The first one will just send an rcon message it doesn't actually restart the server (yet)

Bad/Hacked item detection in yet? Didn't look like it so I just wanted to double-check; maybe I'm using/reading the program wrong, lol, or just can't figure it out.

I'm mainly interested in being able to check when people come on to my server with items that shouldn't be in DayZ; then getting a report/read out of that with their name, IP and GUID information.

My secondary interest is in the 'x killed y and z-people were nearby' to find teleporting hackers easier.

A third interest would be getting Email alerts on those "odd" items above; or when x-people were killed within y-time; or even on a RSS feed or something.

What is the map there for or is it supposed to put the player locations on it? Also if it is, should it be working already or is it not finished. Also many many beans for you. All my beans are belong to you.

Is the RCon portion of this program working yet? What features do connecting via FTP have, if any?

Update: nevermind, I see a previous post that had already answered my quest. It's not functional yet. I'm glad someone's taking the time to develop this kind of tool though, thanks again!

Also to note on the FTP access, you still have the same access with FTP as you do with File Manager. It was never disabled

Sadly I still feel kind of clueless if there's any actual 'usable' function at this time? I get it... that it reads the RPT and gets some other details; but my user list was quite large. In the end I'd want to only be displaying 'Suspicions' (perhaps its own tab)

#1 for me is still being able to tell who killed who, when and where.

I'm still working on the parsing, my main interest in releasing these alpha's is to get feedback to to stress test what I do have functioning so far.

The map will have some functionality with hive updates on players. It will show where a player has been with time-stamp however I will most likely mask the last few hive updates as to make it fair for the players (don't want sneaky admins using the tool to find people)

Nothing so far is in it's final state, i'll update my main post with progress percentage on each feature.

As for rcon, i've disabled it but it DOES work, however it does not report your commands and connecting/disconnecting players like it should in the console version and I believe that's just a limitation I'm running into using vb.net rather than C like the BattlEye library is written in I'm using.

Think of the alpha's as 'Nightly' builds and they just come as they are. Eventually when I start getting some features working with some good functionality I'll post instructions.. right now it's in it's 'play with it to see what it does' state. The parsing is what's really taking a long time to get through.

I'm getting close with the RPT parsing. Sometimes it doesn't always pick up the correct inventory items or items being 'held' so I need to tweak it more, but coordinates are working great.

Keep up the good work Pepper, I am following this with much gusto. I shall give you beans.

Do you have your own server to use this on or test? I would be more than happy to give you your own.

I appreciate your offer, I have a few things in the works currently so I'll keep it in mind. I've been using one of Ryahn's servers to test a few things and a certain hosting company might be providing me with a VDS.

The reason I'm working so heavily on the RPT parsing is because of my ultimate plan for this program. When scanning RPT files I want it to log the most recent items a player has and based on ID store that into a central database. I'll be creating a website where you can look up players and see what gear they have. I'll be creating a "Top Players" so you can see who has the best gear etc.. There's not much to pull out of the RPT files however so a stats database would be limited but still cool nonetheless.

Please do,

I can only imagine that parsing can be a bit tedious considering the fact that when you load it, you feel like you are in the movie The Matrix. Half the time all I see is blonde blonde, brunette late at night. XD

Will you have a feature that holds logs, or the ability to dump them?

Well, ideally setting up your scripts.txt to have BattlEye log almost everything would work a lot better with this program, as eventually it can pick out things that look fishy (you can customize what it searches for) and perhaps when it does find something you can set it to Email/SMS you. As far as some of the fine details go, I still have yet to figure them out. I'm in a way separating out each function into it's own program as I work on it so I don't get overwhelmed with it all.

Get overwhelmed? Rookie. xD

haha yea, considering 99% of the time I'm working on this at work when I should be programming other things.. *whistles inconspicuously*

You too? I have to baby sit the 300+ Clan Members, Website Crap, Server Crap. It's bad.

Boss walks by and I get all panicky like he is catching me looking at porn, which maybe I am, but i'm more concerned of him finding me working on forums and clicking around DayZ.

Ahhh gamer junkies.

Personally I'm more concerned with translations from "RPT/Scripts" talk to "Plain English" for admins to easily read and find people with items they shouldn't have. So, I hope your work leads you in that direction as well. We'll be able to start combating hackers with a tool that can one; give us location updates on people (Yes I see the issue there), parse out and show us 'bad/hacked inventory/items' of people and also give us the whole 'Jim killed Bob; Rob and Tom were nearby'.

*I don't actually ever play DayZ anymore; I just admin all the servers and keep watch. This is why having a location update for players on the admin side is a good time; true - other admins could abuse it, but they'd get caught eventually and either lose their player base, or be reported and get blacklisted. We need to bring respect, honesty and trust back into gaming (yea that's a long shot right?), but it needs to happen.

I'm a bit concerned with the ambiguous upcoming change "* [FIXED] Excessive logging of player data in server logs (Disabled https://dev-heaven.net/issues/38784 )". I am not sure what aspects they consider excessive, but I'm using pretty much every part of those logs to assist me in catching hackers using my own (yet similar) parser.

I'll be using the split and replace functions to bring that "easy to read" view for people. I'll probably even create a method of double clicking on a player and it replicating the inventory system the exact way it looks in ARMA2. should be quite easy with a screenshot of the inventory and images for each item, but that's a long way down the road.

I feel the need to focus more on the RPT file now that BattlEye has been updated and logs more efficiently. That way if a player DOES have hacked items or irregular movement you can tell right away from the RPT. I'll be implementing a way to just "click and kick/ban" players that are found with hacked items.

The reason I'm pulling away from parsing the Scripts.log is now more and more battleye bypasses are being released.. rendering those logs useless. Just the fact that hive updates get logged in the RPT is perfect for an anti-cheat (as far as items are concerned)

I disagree with giving admin the ability to track players. That's an unfair advantage and will be easily abused. Unfortunately though, I have heard that the next patch (tomorrow) will reduce the amount of data stored in RPT. I believe they'll be getting rid of coordinates and such anyhow.

Depending on how much they reduce from the RPT will affect the usefulness of half the functions I'm working on, but hopefully it's JUST the coords lol.
