3rd person needs to go.

You can disable head bob and widen your FOV if you feel the need to have peripheral vision or the current camera makes you feel ill.

Being able to leave your body and hide behind walls and watch people while they have no idea you are there is crap. Every video you watch on you tube shows people exploiting this. Peripheral vision my ass.

Why not join a server with it disabled? Then you won't have that problem, and you'll even have the advantage when 3DP-accustomed kids join that server....

Here's an example.

Player A gets all of his gear on a server that has 3rd person enabled. He abuses the system to get what he needs, including nice weaponry, equipment, etc.

Player B gets his gear on a 1st person server, but has to play longer in order to do so, and is SEVERELY restricted in what servers he can play on, due to server ping, or settings.

Player A moves over to a 1st person server, and murders everyone with his better equipment that he got by more easily avoiding zeds, and other players.

*sigh* It sorta bugs me when people don't read what I write...but I'll try again. Different avenue of approach, gogogo.

3rd Person is a serious detriment to immersion, even if I don't use it...although I'm practically forced to be on servers with people that do, anyway, due to ping and area restrictions. People who use 3rd person are ABUSING the game, and playing from some strange demi-god stance, not a survivor.

Maybe neither of these are a solution. People complain about FOV. Perhaps DayZ should create a custom view, that increases FOV, reduces the weird 'seasickness' that some people are reporting, but makes it so your character can't see through time and space.

You can still corner cheat even with a locked camera... and besides that, making it a server choice is, in my opinion, a huge mistake. It creates imbalances between players who choose one or the other, even temporarily, and shouldn't be done in a situation like the one we have now, where all servers are linked to the same hive.

People need to turn their head bob all the way off. I did this in probably the first 30 mins of play.

3rd person is only nice to view my character's sexiness of all the epic gear he's acquired, and to cheat by avoiding painkiller shaky cam. I pretty much just use 1st the entire time, since I carry 1-2 painkillers at all times.

This is a realistic simulation. Graphics are great, world and environment is great and ever improving... please please remove 3rd person cam entirely so that we can be truly immersed into the world in first person perspective. I'm tired of peeking around corners like a GTA game, or rotating my head 320 degrees when im running in a straight line to scan my surroundings. I never get jumped by zombies..... ever.

3rd person has it's uses, but you have to admit that it is also an exploit. I don't like the fact that someone can be laying prone on a rooftop watching you walking on the ground only to pop up unexpectedly and shoot you down. It gives an unfair advantage. If they can see you, you should also be able to see them. That is the only issue I have with it.

If you absolutely MUST use it, just don't use it in a way that SHOULD be considered cheating.

It's hard to find one with 3dp:off with good ping, at least from where I'm in Russia. And if you have it off while playing on a noob 3dp cheat mode server, you just put yourself at a disadvantage against 3dp cheaters.

It's possible but then people would say that about a game if you suggested it had Perma Death as a mechanic yet somehow it works.

It is sometimes annoying not having third person but it makes the game more immersive, after a short period where you miss it you end up enjoying it.

There are arguments like this all over the forum where a bunch of people jump up and say "fu man Ill play it how I want" and they really miss the point of the game I think. Dayz shines the more unsure, the more nervous and the more scared you are. You should be trying to immerse yourself in the experience not clinging to your old gaming preconceptions. Third person is a total comfort blanket, and it might be frustrating playing without it for a bit but that's only because suddenly you cant magically see over walls without exposing yourself and when your crawling through the grass the grass also obscures your view, just like it would in real life.

People complain that its " their choice" but the problem with people is they nearly always take the easy option. Third person, Alt-F4 , server hopping, these things are all in the game and ALOT of people use them to exploit - because they can.

And to all you third person gamers, i advise you to try the game STALKER, or Amnesia. They are both on sale at Steam. First person is absolutely crucial in many games for the immersion, you feel like you are there. It is also something that you can get used to, if you bother adjusting the settings to make it comfortable for yourself. This isn't a matter of preference like keyboard vs console. This is a matter of how the author of the book meant for you to see his vision.

split the chars on the hive into 2 groups. one group for everyone who preferes to play in easymode with wallhack (3rd person) and similar stuff. one for those that wantt o play without it. make it impossible for chars from group one play with those from group 2. or just remofve that freaking 3rd person along with the imba thermal weapons.

The first person view in arma is broken / unusable. Its not like in STALKER of any other games. So no. You have your servers with 1p play there.

I switch between the two as and when I need to. Having said that, I don't check for 3DP on or off when I join a server. I join and use whatever the server tells me I can use.

A nice compromise would be allowing 3dp but disabling the crosshair. Then you at least have to use ironsights to shoot and thus cannot avoid the shaky aim effects when in combat.

At the end of the day, it's a choice. If you don't like it, don't use it but don't you dare tell me that I'm not allowed to. The only people who can do that are the server ops or the mod creator himself.
