Tip for new DayZ players: Never carry around what you can't afford to lose.
  1. No, it gimps the casuals who don't play with friends and use TS. Those who do have a huge advantage. It's not immersion breaking to have a working radio system in the DayZ world. Suggestions from three years ago include having to actually find a radio handset just like you do for your map , compass, etc, in order to communicate. If we really want to go down the immersion route, then let's put a long ass respawn timer because you should not be able to jump back into the game after dying. Let's also remove the 3rd person camera.
  2. People have been saying this for three years. Global chat, either text or voip, is extremely important for players to warn others about potential threats like a crazy KoS'er or hackers.

    Ban first. Ask questions later.
  4. I hate to use that term, but I want DayZ to be more hardcore. I was given a guest pass from a friend and tried that 'other' game.... it's also turned into a PvP deathmatch, so why not just make the zombies to be more of a threat? Right now the game has very little challenge other than bad lag, when the Z's start teleporting around then yeah, but otherwise, its not a horror/survival game at all. Unless you count trying to survive against other players. And since The Walking Dead series has started again, which im sure you all love watching, why not make the zombies more like those ones? Bandits getting you down? Wait until their gunshots attract a horde, and run them into the woods. Or when other players are trying to gank you like CoD, they get grabbed by a zombie and biten. Zombies should be a HUGE threat when they are up close to you, and especially in numbers. Not just that one swing attack that takes off a bit of HP and has 30% chance of inflicting bleeding. That's nonsense. Zombies should always, always be the main threat. Until the zombies in the game are magnified in difficulty, DayZ will always be just a walking simulator...

    Death needs penalties. Suggestions welcome

If that is true (against ANY form of punishment), then he must be a friggin anarchist.

two terms i keep hearing in the replies... "stop PVP" and "annoying" stop PVP - im not trying to stop it, but to discourage it subtly. Does harsher laws stop crime?? Nope, it merely discourages would-be criminals to do it, unless they were truly desperate (or evil). annoying - well, that's one of the main points of my post... Death should be annoying, it shouldn't just be 'routine' like it is now for many experienced players. This is a very tricky issue and I admit I still don't have a perfect solution. If I did, i would be in rocket's team as an advisor or something. HOwever I am also against the idea of visual indicators like bandit skins. I understand rocket wants to put it back in next patch as a test. But i would prefer that players govern themselves and exhibit a bit of self control.

That would only slow the clannies and powergamers down a bit. Actually I think they might even hunt players even more aggressively to fill their stashes. I'm not trying to limit PvP, instead im thinking of ways to discourage it without implementing restrictions. I brought up the idea of NPC guards but they don't seem to fit the DayZ world, and most people weren't too thrilled about it either.

All i see is you getting trolled :/
  10. The game is getting a little boring for some people who have played it for some time, ie a couple of weeks/months. I've been thinking about why, and perhaps the game is a little too easy. Dont get me wrong, DayZ is still pretty hardcore with perma death and full loot pvp, etc, but after you die 200+ times, you already know exactly what to do to get back on your feet, and some people even have a shitload of tents to restock themselves with. Players hunting other players out of boredom is also a problem, despite what others suggest. The game allows you to pvp freely, but I have never read anything nor heard rocket claim that DayZ is a pvp simulator, or that pvp = endgame. Pvp is a choice, but right now it is the only thing to do left for many people. By restricting respawns and adding a death timer, maybe then people might start taking their lives a bit more seriously. Think about it. In a real apocalypse, no doubt there will be murderers and bandits, but not EVERYONE becomes a senseless killer because, well, in real life you only get one shot. People will then be more willing to work together instead of killing for fun. I don't think it is normal for a large percentage of the player base to kill others for fun. and the only thing that can make people think twice before pulling the trigger is if DEATH ACTUALLY MATTERED. Let's say, for the sake of raising a point, there is a respawn restriction of 1 hour after your first death. It would be annoying as hell, I can see that, but the point is not to annoy the player upon death, but to force the player to think twice before putting his own life at risk. I'm not trying to penalize bandits or restrict PvP, I am looking for ways to make DayZ even more realistic and gritty, where people would actually face consequences for their actions. tl;dr - Death needs to be harsher still. On one hand it might turn away a handful of casuals, but it's a gamble, because it might actually satisfy the majority of players who want a more realistic experience than just point, click, shoot, find another player, point, click, shoot. You can still do that, but once radios are implemented and the players in the server have a more effective means of communication , the killers will probably want to think twice before murdering a stranger, lest he wants to be hunted by the server. A wanted/bounty system would also be amazing, especially if it can be scripted somehow.

    Absolutely disappointing playerbase

I hope they wipe the database once they finally fix the tent duping exploits

    What the hell?

True, but in most movies we watch, when one aggros it tends to attract the attention of those around it. Right now, one random zed comes running from 150m like OP says while the ones righ next to you still hop around in circles..

Game would be more enjoyable if everyone did this. Seriously.
  14. Rising (DayZ)

    What the hell?

I don't mind zeds being more dangerous and smarter, I just wish they were more consistent. One random zed out of like 20 tends to do this long range aggro.
  15. .... so? He is one person, that was a group. If I was in that group, I wouldn't be scared of him at all. Even if he shoots first and kills someone, he will die, and that guy will just respawn and run back to his teammates. There's too many trigger happy kids playing this game. When these kids find a gun, then they go around shooting everyone they see and call themselves "bandits". No, you're just a scared kid who shoots first out of fear. When you have a high powered rifle in your hands, and decent skills, you are in control of the situation. There are many things to do with such power, besides simply shooting someone in the head. When someone goes KoS on everyone they see, they have no control, and no idea what to do with power. You are surviving, yes, but like a wild animal.
