rbro1987@gmail.com 16 Posted July 19, 2012 taking out the murder count could be a good move. i tend not to murder weaponless beanbangers unless im gonna do something hilarious (i usually just troll them) but getting that murder count up is always tempting. and i do get a thrill when it goes up, and rage a bit when it doesnt register a kill
Dronax 33 Posted July 19, 2012 you cannot compare PvP in this game to PvP in dedicated pvp games because the effect on your nerves and senses are nowhere near the same..the feeling you get from pvp in this compared to a game of CoD is night and day... i can run into a game in cod and go crazy shooting everyone around me without a shred of worry because i know me dieing wont matter.in this the feeling is daunting... your heart beats and you worry- you feel anxious all the time even if you have the best weapons versus ppl with terrible weapons...INFACT you feel even more anxious the better gear you have... the most relaxed i ever am is when i respawn.I COMPLETELY disagree that the reason ppl come to this game is to have easy targets... the stakes are much higher in this and when it comes to playing versus pros in cod i couldnt care less- thats easy IMO... but playing versus noobs in dayz is hard... it scares the crap out of me- the thought of me dieing to a lucky makarov stray is a terrible notion in the back of my mind.
wartzilla 182 Posted July 19, 2012 No.The reason I PVP in this game is because this is a sandbox game.Death MATTERS. Both for my targets, and for me if I should fail. That makes the gameplay meaningful, intense and actually makes me want to play.Endlessly respawning with endless out-of-nowhere gear means death is nothing more than a mild annoyance, if even that. Dronax 33 Posted July 19, 2012 (edited) Did you actually just type that? Are you serious? Is he serious?lol nice way to take what i said out of context... when i say "noobs" i dont mean the dude on the beach with a flashlight... i mean someone whos been alive for 5 minutes and has an ak off a deer stand...if you run into that guy with an ak at the NW barracks and you have every piece of gear imaginable, if you see eachother at the exact same time you both have equal chance to kill one another.and btw, yes i meant what i said about pros in COD... not that i ever liked call of duty anyway, but i have a friend who gets trash drunk at the end of every night off a sixty of vodka and plays COD on his xbox against 10 yr olds without a care in the world...he wouldnt be able to do that if he was playing dayzedit: you guys need to read more into what rocket is trying to do with this game... he isnt trying to make another competitive shooter he is trying to make something that emits a strong emotion out of the player.Yeah probably, any time COD is the go-to comparison I generally try not to over-think those posts.fine, compare it to counterstrike, battlefield, who cares- you said dedicated pvp so i just think of dedicated pvp games... I also compare to them because they are so DIFFERENT from dayz, not because they are similar. Edited July 19, 2012 by Dronax
Electrolyte 4 Posted July 19, 2012 @Dronax - I will agree with you on the point that the vast majority of people come to DayZ not to shoot easy targets, at least not the solo players, maybe friends of existing players though. I do think however that a large number of people stay to shoot easy targets with no regard for dying themselves.
Rising (DayZ) 99 Posted July 19, 2012 Basically Rocket has no idea how to fix or improve the situation, so he is just playing the waiting game and see how things turn out. As countless have pointed out, it really is kind of a social experiment now.

Dronax 33 Posted July 19, 2012 (edited) the strong prey on the weak, thats how it works anywhere. I wont disagree with that point.however, this game has spread like wildfire because of the unique experience it has given players- everyone who has played it has said "I have never played anything like this before". that 'fear' you feel for your life... even if it is a fear of a hill troll north of chernoHostile players are fine, its natural to the games environment, and I think thats sometimes rocket wants to keep.Even if they are only doing it because they want to kill noobs Edited July 19, 2012 by Dronax

LumberBack 43 Posted July 23, 2012 (edited) most "pvping" these days is just griefing, i mean what other reason is there for killing someone that is unarmed, and has a empty backpack... people get off on shooting someone that cant shoot back? Rogan (DayZ) 24 Posted July 24, 2012 (edited) Going on about your kill-streak in DayZ, is like bragging about being the most attractive person in Walmart down the street from the Professional Modeling agency. This is fair there are a lot of easy kills in Dayz. Chenarus is a very dangerous place, and all new players need to learn to use the environment. What many PvE proponents miss is that they are playing the game badly. If a carebear wants to survive in this game they have to be smart, use your binoculars, choose your loot locations carefully, use the map and anticipate the likelyhood of encounters. It's the bandit element which gives PvE types a real challenge, because otherwise you're just playing zombie grabass. There is little challenge to the zombie AI.The first time I realised the zombies were easy to outmanoeuvre, it was ably demonstrated by some Enfield douche running around the town of Electro with impunity. It turns out, when you know how to herd them, that the zombies are zero challenge. Having a gunfight in a town filled with zombies... considerably more interesting.Does that mean I kill a new spawn without a pistol? Depends if I want his bandages and painkillers. But that's not the game I'm playing ATM, I'm survivor hunting. I want your fat loot, and given half the chance I'm going to take it from your bloody corpse. No hard feelings. It's about beans, you have them and I want them. NVG and GPS... even better. If in the course of that I get to have an amazing firefight with another well equipped bandit force, or hand out pistols to new spawns, then so much the better. I can respawn and find a hatchet like everyone else. Edited July 24, 2012 by Rogan
Dronax 33 Posted July 24, 2012 when you come down to it, its all sport... a group of hunters go out into the woods to shoot birds with their rifles, not for food, but for fun.you could compare a guy with his m107 to the hunters and a noob with his flashlight to the birds.a 500m snipe is a hillarious thing no matter what gear they have. bonafide 2 Posted July 24, 2012 Camping on a hill shooting people who just spawned with no gear is NOT PvP.Its sure as fuck fun though.
