I Feel Bad for New Players

Recommended Posts

I feel bad for new players...

when I started playing...

There weren't any hackers...

There weren't obsessed gamers who played 100+ hours a week...

There weren't "clans" that horded everything...

There weren't shitty melee weapons...

There was spawning with a Makarov pistol...

There was global chat for asking questions... Anyone in Cherno?

There was bandit models for easy identification of non-friendlies...

My friends and I are eagerly awaiting a stand-alone and Arma 3 though!

But we're done testing until the hacking becomes under control...

No use in testing when the major problem with the game is hackers.

Yeah, I've sort of slowed my roll and suggested everyone I've been raving to just to hold out for a bit. No sense starting to play heavily when the servers are so completely shitted up with hackers everyday.

The mod is still in its Alpha stage. A lot of things are being tested and tweaked with. I doubt it'll ever be 100% great for everyone.

Running around gearing up and killing zombies is only so much fun. Online games are fun because you get to play against other humans... you know... the best type of AI. Clans and groups started forming as a result to improve the collective chance of survival. Makes sense to me.

I do miss the heady days of May, when everything was new and fresh! I didn't know where anything spawned, grouping with a few pubs was possible without being immediately shot, it was a MAJOR event finding that first Lee Enfield and map. Nostalgia for 2 and a half months ago... lol

There weren't any hackers... I have seen maybe one hacker in the past 30 hours I've played this game. Simple disconnect and server hop fixed that.

There weren't obsessed gamers who played 100+ hours a week... How does this impact me at all?

There weren't "clans" that horded everything... I only need a rifle, canteen food and ammo which can't be horded.

There weren't shitty melee weapons... 2 hit kill with an axe? Doesn't seem shit to me.

There was spawning with a Makarov pistol... Teaches noobs how to be patient.

There was global chat for asking questions... Anyone in Cherno? Teaches you not to trust anyone in game other than friends.

There was bandit models for easy identification of non-friendlies... This sounds like we could use that.

In other words "we don't want to lose our stuff."

Seriously try to make this about "testing." You want to play with your friends and you're afraid of hackers.

Thanks for helping to "test."

A couple isn't much of a loss. Too bad you don't want to play anymore but hope to see you back again!

Ah, the good old dayz!

But the point i think you and a lot of new players miss is that this isnt really a game yet - we are testing it, to breaking point hopefully.

If players really are that attached to their stuff then perhaps they should wait for a release version. My personal opinion is that at every major update we all get reset and start from scratch.

I'm not a complete nub, but....no one cares?

Games/life/evolve to best suit the current environment/grow a pair jeez I could go on foreve!. Can't keep up? Become extinct.

Enough said I believe.

EDIT: because I may have come across a bit trollish in my first post - don't take it all to heart. ALL games have exploits and hacks, even in their fully developed version. Don't have a heart attack over it for gods sake, otherwise we'll have to fill out our first 'cause of death' as being 'death by troll' on the death certificate, and that will never do.

So go play something else instead of wasting even MORE time whining on the internet.

Gotta grab some thicker skin. People continue to forget that the mod is in its early stages of development still.

Just my 2p!!!

The only way I can see you encounter hackers is server hopping!!! OK

If you try to play on the same server, like I do then there is no hackers!!!

If it happens fuck that server and try to find a non hacked server, I try to stick to the same server

I aint been shit on yet, only died once since I got the mod!! B)

Life/living is easy, its the shit heads around you that make it hard!!! ;)

the loot spawns seem a little f-ed up for new players

I was kinda unaware for most of this update, because I had a 10 day old character that was only concerned with heli loot. but he died :( . when I spawned again, I went to 2 supermarkets, and some other buildings, that were completely empty (no empty cans, nada). I eventually found stuff, but it seemed kinda weird...

I completely agree.

I don't feel too bad for new players, there are certainly more challenges but there is also a lot more information available than back in May. Can't say whether they balance each other out, but it's not all bad I figure.

I wonder sometimes about these people who claim to never see hackers though. I'm really not sure how someone could not have seen multiples by now if they have been playing the game a few weeks or more. I see them at least once a week, sometimes twice in a day. I guess people don't know how to spot them?

Good things from the past are often fondly remembered. Its the bad things (eg constant server crashes, game bugs) that we like to commonly forget.

The server crashes and bugs etc. are a constant in this case. I see your point but am not sure it applies to DayZ just yet.

Hackers? Are you talking about hackers in forums? No one in forums has seen a hacker in DayZ for months, u must be crazy or something.

As a privileged brain said on first page, if you see a hacker that nukes the whole server, just alt f4 and you will be safe. (Feel the irony)
