AS50, Mil-Dots and Ranging

Recommended Posts

Hey,

I have a problem measuring the distance of a target when using the AS50 zoomed.

There seems to be no correction table for the AS50 so I used the table for the M107 (zoomed) but im always way over the target.

http://www.armaholic.com/brazil/misc_utilities/Sniperrifle_Correctiontables.pdf

The only way for me to measure the distance is using waypoints which is kinda lame.

So my question is: Is there any kind of Mil Table for the AS50?

Are you not zeroing the AS50?

He was probably too busy giving himself beans.

Of course im zeroing, thats not the problem.

The problem is, how can I measure the range of a target by using the Mil Dots of the Scope (zoomed).

The AS50 is not an ArmA gun so that's why the zeroing is wrong.

Place the feet / head of the target at the center of your scope, measure the number of mildots to the other end.

If the target is standing: Divide 1800 by the target's height in mildots (e.g if he's 4 mildots high, 1800/4).

If the target is crouching: Divide by 0.9 (or by 1800 and then divide the result by 2).

You'll have your range. That's what I used to do until I found a rangefinder.

The AS50 is not an ArmA gun so that's why the zeroing is wrong.

It is.. It's a BAF DLC weapon.

Ok, I found the problem.

The Scope of the AS50 is bugged.

Mil-Dots don´t work for this rifle. :(

In order to make a precise shot you have to use a rangefinder or map waypoint.

I hope BIS will fix this issue soon.

look on utube, there is a hard totorial to learn it :).....

its 1.8m*1000/Mildots when ur target is far, for example = 2 mildots big u just have to

1.8*1000/2 so 1800 /2 =900 so hes 900 meters away when he is 3 high he is 600 meters away .....

when he is crouching its 0.9*1000/mildots for example = 2 mildots big, then its

0.9*1000/2 so 900/2=450 meters away i hope it helped u

(sry for bad english ) :)

The zeroing is not wrong. If i spot someone 700 meters our on my rangefinder and zeroin to 700, it's on target.

It worked fine for me whenever I sniped inb4 I got my Rangefinder.

Don't forget you have to take elevation into account, too (the higher you are above your target, the lower your bullet drop is, and vise versa).

It maybe works up to 500-600 Meters but for everything above its useless.

A couple of times I zeroed the gun to 900-1000 Meters because the target was 2 Mils high and shot way over.

The crosshaire is just to big.

Just look at this.

Sure, just removed the post since it was pretty much the same as said further up hehe

That one is bugged, that's why I meant a 'reupload'.

It appears the site is failing to retrieve the actual file and all you actually download is a .txt file with the error message from the website added into it but with the .txt extension changed to .pdf. :(

The only thing ive tried that works kinda is use the following formula 1,6x1000/X then you should atleast be able to rangefind with the scope up to 1000 meterish before the marginals in the scope becomes so small so its hard to see the diffrence, tried this in shooting range v1,1 with success. for ranges further than 1000 meters its best to have a rangefinder, but have never gotten my hands on one of those ^^

Hope this helps!

Peace.

The DMR and M24 ive been able to use the Height / mil dots high to determine distance but when practicing with the AS50 it is indeed wrong. The mil dots are further apart on the AS50 then the DMR. What ive kinda learned to do is memorize the mil dots on the DMR and guestimate the mil dots high the target is with invisible mil dots..........or you can use a sharpie on your screen LOL.
