A solution to the "bandit" problem

Recommended Posts

True banditry is much more fun than faggotry.

organized bandit squads are what is exciting, but the, "I'm a l337 cherno sniper on top of building with my en field" mentatilty is gay

first step in reducing banditry is server community and organisation

I'd say only dumb snipers do that. Whenever I come close to towns, the first thing I do is always take out my bino and scope out the building roofs. Snipers on top of buildings would be easy pickings for other snipers.

This idea would completely change the game. This isn't Fallout DayZ. It isn't friendly. It's harsh and unforgiving. And I like it.

How this would actually work.

Deathmatch bandits from other servers would join the easy mode server and kite 30+ zombies towards easy mode server players. Without the ability to kill the DM bandit the easy mode player would die by zombie.

DM bandits from other servers will come to easy mode server to find vehicles, call out friendly and offer free rides, fill the bus full of easy mode players and crash into a building. BOOM. Everyone dies.

Hackers will still come to easy mode servers and nuke everyone.

That's just three ways to kill people without using a gun. OPs idea would only create easy places for bandits to gather up hassle free gear if these servers were not separate from the main game. If you think alt-f4ing and ghosting is bad now, wait until they have a safe server to jump to.

I must admit, watching bus full of noobs falling off cliff could be quite fun to watch :)

The game would not be fun without the bandits. Since Zeds are so easily avoidable the only real danger to anyone but a beginner are bandits.

Although bandits are necessary to this game, there should be more emphasis on teaming up with survivors instead of the traditional KOS (Kill On Sight) attitude. The ratio of bandits to survivors is more than 50% in the bandit end. If the zombies were more dangerous (not glitched, able to hit while running, more dense in cities, and can spawn inland) and you could accomplish more things with a partner (make bigger fires, share body heat to avoid hypothermia, other player can make a splint for broken leg, another player can hoist you fireman style if broken legs to run from zombies, etc), then there would be less emphasis on being a bandit and more on just trying to survive or helping your mate out.

With that, you are not asking for a "Zombie Survival game" but an "Ant Survival Game" ... Zombies are as harmless as ants atm.

I run through Cherno and Elektro with no problem at all, unarmed or armed, makes no difference.

Experienced players will have no problem with zombies, and your ever carebear friendly servers will only be full of noobs.

Killing zombies without a weapon is really easy.

And there are sooooooooo many ways to get rid of them without killing them.

So it's a NO for me.

PVP, as hardcore as it may seem to those who "suffer" from it, is what makes this game what it is.

A realistic simulation of what Humanity without Laws would be.

Now banditry has changed yes, but you know why ?

Bandits were able to rob people befor, but since people started using Alt F4, bandits can no longer do what thay did, aka rob people, make intresting human interractions, where the robbed had the choice to fight back or obay ... no, now bandits are forced to kill first thel talk later.

The only people to blame are those very people who complain about the current situation, that thay themselves created.

So quit the fucking carebear shit and play the game how it's mean't to be played.

EDIT:

Another issue is the human nature it's self ...

And here I am talking about GREED.

GREED, the greed of people who call themselves "survivors" is without limit.

Stack up on weapons, gear, loot, you name it, and then get fucking paranoid of loosing it, so you kill on sight or Alt F4 ... here again, bandits are not the ones to blame.

Until school is back in session, and the adults can get back to actually enjoying a zombie survival game, we unfortunately have to deal with the ever-increasing "bandit" problem. It really wouldn't be so bad if 99.9999999999999999999999999% of all bandits didn't disconnect as soon as they got shot. Anyway, on to the solution.

Add a simple friendly fire option to each server, so the admin can decide if he wants to run a Day Z server or a Deathmatch server. Simple and effective. Everyone who actually wants to survive a zombie apocolypse will get to do so sneaking around cities, looking for gear, etc etc. Oh, and all the people who just want another FPS deathmatch game can have that too.

Something to note: I really don't have any issues with bandits; I stay out of cities, hit high-yield barns, deer-stands, etc. Occasionally I will creep into a hospital at about 3am when all the little boys are asleep, but for the most part, I live in the wilderness. I just feel this friendly fire option would help pretty much everyone. In fact, I am pretty sure the ONLY people who wouldn't want an option are people who play this game soley to sit around and shoot others, then disconnect so they don't die.

TLDR: Friendly-Fire option for servers.

"

Didn't even need to read after your "Until school is back in session, and the adults can get back to actually enjoying a zombie survival game," phrase. Really? Half of the bandits are 18+.

No. if i knew that nobody could kill me, then i would run around without a CARE in the world. i would stroll through cherno, maybe hike all the way to NWAF. i would feel too safe. No.

this is really funny to me.. it would be simple to have it separated and pvp servers and non pvp servers.. the characters only persist to similar servers so you cant carry over gear and things like that.. the ONLY problem is the people who just want to kill other players realize if this happens theyre gonna be stuck with people just like them and have to face people just like them.. how could it hurt you if other people played without pvp on a different server completely not affecting you? you get to pvp with others who want it except you wont get to kill people who are trying to play a zombie survival sim

Or, another problem would arise:

assholes go onto no PVP servers, raid the NWAF, and get the coolest shit in the game. then go to regular servers, and buttfuck everyone.

What makes you so sure that its the little boys who are bandits? im pretty sure most of the adults (why do u even split it into kids and adults it doesnt matter atall lol) are bandits or semi murderes whereas the children run around and wanna be ur friend

The only viable option to the bandit/pvp problem is give players more options other than PVP.

It's actually a pretty good suggestion. It would make participation voluntary so everyone can have it their way.

People would gather gear on the non-PvP server then hop over to the PvP servers and tear around like mad shooting everything in sight. PvP servers would be all crazy deathmatch, all the time.

Meanwhile, there would be an endless supply of posts from people complaining about the hundreds of ways that players are still able to kill them and otherwise screw with them on the non-PvP servers. Hell, there would be dozens and dozens of new ways to mess with people if there isn't the ability to shoot survivors.

OP's idea is awful, and this mod works precisely because it isn't like that.

If you want to deal with the bandit problem, then stop being a bunch of sissies and go kill bandits. Or, at the very least, stop being easy targets. Most people killed by bandits are doing stupid things.

Like the OP, I have not really suffered from this 'problem'. But I think we should not bother talking about the 'solutions' to this, before the base game mechanics are fixed/in place (standalone). I'm quite confident that it will even out in time, at least somewhat.

When I was big into GTAIV people would deathmatch the SHIT out of the airport. You would respawn, take 2 steps and get shot... Rinse and repeat.

If any of you haven't played it, imagine you spawned wherever the most players were by that I mean if all the players in the server were at the NWAF you would literally spawn within the NWAF. Possibly in the midst of a shootout. I used to fly around in the attack chopper and protect people from the assholes. Makes it harder to do that if you can't kill em and spawn trap them. On the flipside sometimes I was on the receiving end of people trapping me over and over. In any case it was good fun and it was nice being able to choose if you wanted friendly fire on or not. At least this would take care of the anti-social losers who teleport to people and shoot them in the back, then again they would follow you around and try and fuck up your day any way they can to get the attention they crave.

Do you really want Chernarus to become Rainbow Land? This is an apocalypse-survival simulation, and given the state of human nature today bandits, yes, even the dumb ones, will most likely be a HUGE part of a real apocalypse. Chernarus is not a giant, 225km2 dollhouse.
