Just got started back in DayZ again after a long hiatus and figured I'd get reacquainted to the forums to see if they existed what with Reddit being more prominent than it was back then. Back in the day I rolled with a group that called ourselves the "Helpy Helpers" that patrolled the coast looking for freshies to escort through contested areas and protect them from the armed filth that killed them for sport. Got about 12 hours in since my return and a lot has changed but a lot is still the same. One of the factors I'm most dismayed to see is still a thing is microstutters representing a variety of things from large mounds of loot (bases), zombie / infected spawns (whatever) and players in proximity. I can't write notes to people anymore, spray paint isn't a thing... can't capture rain water in a water container and vehicles are still absurdly awkward and clunky. But I can still come over a hill and see a large city looming on the horizon and get butterflies in my gut from both anticipation and apprehension in a fashion no other game can manage. There's a game meta that has never been matched with a versatility that is unique to DayZ- in my experience anyway and I'm pretty stoked to be getting back into it. Anyway just thought I'd wade back into the conversation and say hello again. Any "Helpy Helpers" still out there doing the do? 1 3 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
caik 114 Posted July 28, 2023 Welcome back @eno. You’ve not missed much except a few million psychopathic murders😂 and a handful of base raids. Your post reminds me of the hero and bandit skins of old. The devs definitely need to add a blue checked shirt for you and your squad (if you can build one) to role play the heroes of chernarus again. Maybe even the blue helmets and a white UN jeep👊. I helped out a sickly Hector from Turkey a while ago, got him well and fed then took him to my base only to find it had been raided (again). We cleared out the building and got to securing up again with him preparing the planks and me doing the building so I trusted him too much and gave him the “keys” to the castle. Good luck. it's hard not to play that way when I can go from freshy to geared with an LAR, VSD, and NVGs in like a 30 minute run. I only just got my first LAR since the wipe from a crashed car near base. My pal that plays a bit can go from freshie to geared in no time at all. I also rarely see anyone else at the convoys since most of them are away from high pop areas. I usually check the one by Krisnik, then the pond out by Karlin, then Roztoka, and finally, the two nearby Rodzanica.
