Combination lock 5 numbers

Recommended Posts

First of all, sorry for my bad english. I will try to convey my thoughts.

I've played quite a few hours in the game. About 2 thousand.

Approximately 50% of my bases were opened by guessing a password. And it doesn't matter if I had 10 doors or 2, in one night I lost even the largest bases.

Is it right? People build bases for weeks, collect materials to lose in one night? One team will also collect ammo and grenades for a week to raid. And someone just picks up all the passwords overnight. Often people do these not with their own hands, but with the help of various assistant programs.

Let's think. A three-digit lock is opened on average in 9 minutes. What's the point in it anyway? Maybe it should be removed? Nobody uses it, because 9 minutes of time, it's even ridiculous to call the protection of your base.

A four-digit codelock requires an average of 1.5-2 hours to open. It's not that much. With luck, it can be opened in 20-30 minutes. So, at night, when there are few players online, a person can open even a large base without any problems.

Why not replace three-digit codelocks with five-digit ones? Maybe they just need to be made more rare and that's it. Three-digit numbers do not make any sense, four-digit ones still poorly protect the base from hacking. But five-digit codlocks will save the situation, because such a codlock will have to be selected for about 12 hours on average.

When you were raided, it's not so offensive, people spent a lot of resources and took risks, because they made a lot of noise and other players come to shoot. But when your big base is just picked up overnight, it discourages any desire to return to the game. I personally have already lost about a dozen good guys in 2 years who do not want to play because of such crackers.

It is not difficult to implement, it will take less than an hour of time. But the benefits of this will be endless.

That is why people have created a mod for an electronic codelock. But many are his opponents, because he does not fit well into the atmosphere and creates powerful bases of 30 doors that open in 10 seconds by the owner.

Three digits = used for griefing

Four digits = used as a means of torture

Five digits = torture extraordinaire.

What needs to be really done is complete rework of building feature.

1) workbench which allows to build in certain vicinity and which also allows to craft certain important things and to fix building tools (shovels, pickaxes, hammers etc).

1.1) special materials spawned in the same manner as lumber piles throughout the map. Scrap metal from piles of scrap.

1) gate is a joke. What metal wire? Lets look at basic wooden crate. It has proper hinges. It also has a simple lock for nonexistent padlock. Hinges are they way to go, padlocks as well. Padlocks are a common thing everywhere. Combination locks from bicycles are groundless simply because there are no bicycles in the game. Game needs craftable doors, gates, trapdoors and foundable padlocks. Hinges and other things could be crafted via workbench with found scrap metal and some basic tools like pliers and hammers. This whole addition creates a ground for base building. Workbench could be used as biggest survival stationary tool and also as a decoration. Currently dayz bases are pretty much hoarding camps. Barrels, boxes, containers - nothing else.

2) walls of different shapes so blocking windows and alike will not be a problem anymore. Currently in order to block the smallest window, one needs to build an entire frame for it. It's a waste of materials and a waste of time - it does not have anything to do with survivalism. Its just: do it that way or don't do it at all because no other option is available.

Hate me now.

We definitely need Codelocks.  Like the mod.  No power source required.  "Reasons" isn't good enough.  And why not be able to board up abandoned structures?  There will be lots of them available now that everyone is an infected.  Most definitely more effective against the horde than that ramshackle lean-to you built out in the woods.  I would have valued the ability to board up existing structures FAR more than having random toxic zones in the towns.

It's like the current base building is simply there in order to say "yep, our game has base-building".  It's the bare minimum, at its best.

I think this ability to take cover in your own base very quickly is worth all of the added security and convenience that it provides.  You spent all that time building the cover, it should be worth it, no?

This is everyone's business, I personally would not really like workbenches and stuff.  Reminds me minecraft/rust.

The fact that codelocks are long and tedious, this is a balance.  Do you want a strong guard for your loot?  Be kind, enter a lot of locks.  And if a person has 30 doors, and he opens them in 15 seconds, is this normal?

I like the balance of laziness.  Don't you want to look out if the city is empty?  Your ass is in danger.  Don't want to open a lot of doors at the base?  Your loot is in danger.  Don't want to take a safer but longer road?  Your ass is in danger.  This is the whole point of the game.

Each decision should not contain only pluses.  It must also carry its disadvantages.

It is laziness that decides in this game.  How many bases have been captured because the owner is too lazy to close at least the first door?  For he was going to leave in a couple of minutes.

Electronic codelocks will ruin it all.  And the bases will be made too strong.

"(...)Electronic codelocks will ruin it all.  And the bases will be made too strong."

- i've raided enough of those as a solo player to be certain that it won't be a case. With hacksaws, sledgehammers, explosives and mistakes of their owners. It was always by taking chances, even with all the planning and preparing. You just need a valid method and no type of lock will be a problem.

If you have a clan that roams all day everyday, then they will have dozens of barriers either way. Most people don't have time for that and so their bases are equally small. I'm absolutely certain about this.

It is impossible to balance that other than making rules such as "5 gates per group" (or 5 gates per workbench that cannot be stacked in vicinity) which is strictly PVP oriented setting. Its wrong to think that strong bases are bad because they're existing. Raider is not obliged to attack indiscriminately everything in sight. Wise person knows when and when not to. To chose fitting target. People were having that kind of discussions many times over the years and it was always the same. Those who put less effort were victims of those who put massive effort. And this is normal. Survival of the strongest, and weak will die. Also - you're saying that opening dozens of automatic locks is kinda lazy? What about building them? Is this laziness? You need to invest a lot of time to build a big base. My personally biggest one had like 100 gates? It was one of those hardcore servers and there was like 2 or 3 codelocks on the map all the time. I took me hundreds of hours to get materials, then it took me hundreds of hours to actually use all that. And don't let me start about gathering wood. I was building without cars and the nearest tree was like 400m meters away. Putted all the effort only to be killed by cheaters with ESPs in the end xd.

Well! i've said too much. Combilocks are just... stupid. No bikes, yet these locks are spawning everywhere. Not to mention that currently they're completely hacked. There is cheating software dedicated for raiding them. Of course no response from BI.

There is no point in arguing, everyone has their own opinion.  I also built a huge base solo, and there were much more than 100 walls.  And 14 locks.  They were all rolled up in ~12 hours.

For me personally, as well as for my team, dayz will lose interest with the introduction of electronic codelocks.

And large bases, where the FPS is half as much and lags even on good computers, do not attract me.

It's not laziness that decides the game.   It's people using exploits and cheating in combination with the fact that official servers have no admins.  The whole basebuilding gameplay loop is completely elementary and simple.  The basebuilding system is not a good reflection of the amount of effort required to actually keep your stuff safe while having combat be fair.

Heck, you can't even build bases in the most logical places without first consulting some magical online map to tell you where the gas bombs will be hitting.  More about living in bizarro world than an authentic reality.

Well, I'm not talking about official servers.  Of course, there is generally a complete mockery of the player.  I like servers without much modification, with the buildenivere mod.

Well, it remains a game, not a complete simulation of life.  By the way, I often build a base in cities with a chemical zone, I even saved a couple of times during a raid. 🙂

How about a 5 digit lock spawns in when you complete a flagpole. Hard work for a proper reward. If the flagpole is destroyed so is the lock or the locks persistence drops to zero once outwith the 60m radius. Increase the visibility of your base with the payoff being improved security. Blast through just the same as before though!

Or… the ability to attach two combos to a gate. Two red or a red and a blue, both needing cracked to open the gate.

My base been raided five times in the last month😢

make all of your 4 combos different so it takes much longer than 1-2 hours to crack them. I do a baseline 4dial combo, then add 3 to each digit for every gate thereafter

ex: 3250 -> 6583 -> 9806 etc.

it's actually a lot faster to farm the explosives for a raid than to crack like six different 4 dial combos, especially if you coordinate with your group. Have someone looting military for nades, someone loot dolnik for plastics and detonators, and same for nadbor quarry (Livonia)

You’re a genius @Misnomera

I’d give you more beans if I could. I didn’t think anyone would be that slack.

I just cracked a 4 combo in 81 numbers. Before work! Base back within reaching distance now, just need to deal with this uninvited guest.

Attempt dialogue or cold blooded murder?
