wolffe 52 Posted July 6, 2012 So I got my first ever vehicle working and was driving it around. I was low on fuel so I stopped in to the nearest gas station. Turns out fuel pumps don't pump fuel and only gigantic tankers allow you to refill jerry cans.I don't understand the logic behind this since my inventory can only hold so much fuel and fuel goes very fast. Why can't normal fuel pumps refuell jerry cans?
Jhenryis1 0 Posted July 6, 2012 I can see this working. I mean why shouldn't i be able to fuel up at a gas pump. If they feel like it is going to make it pointless to even bother finding Jerry cans then they should put in a certain about of fuel that you can get from it. Once its been used up...Its gone

So you want the normal pumps to pump gas for you... Pumps that require electricity... Also, I hope you realize that vehicles, or atleast most, have a cargo capacity of their own? There's like three vehicles that (I think, not sure) that don't have cargo capacity, one of those not requiring fuel in the first place. So just get fueled at the container, then fill your jerry cans when your done, then drive off, simple.
Tyrog 10 Posted July 6, 2012 Pumps need electricity. Well, there's your problem.

Igor (DayZ) 96 Posted July 9, 2012 Agreed. Fuel pumps should be able to fill jerrycans.
Survivor-Kyle 148 Posted July 9, 2012 Use the large storage tanks that are located at the very same gas stations as the pumps. There is no electricity, the pumps cannot operate. It seriously only requires a 10m detour...
disorder 344 Posted July 9, 2012 I think some fuel pumps can be manually pumped (like water wells), it depends how oldskool the pumps are. The island decor certainly looks like its stuck in 1978.
iceman28001 36 Posted July 9, 2012 Get out of car... to walk to fuel pump... or walk to gas container. Don't see much of a difference, besides the electricity deal. Which makes since...I have never tried to siphon gas out of a large storage tank... Have not seen any at gas stations... all underground.Do not know how easy this would be... regardless either way is fine.I lol'd at post above... oh 1978 how everything must have been black and white... No power back in those days.
disorder 344 Posted July 9, 2012 Technically then shouldn't you be able to siphon fuel out of other cars? Would be funny if some clan got a load of vehicles and you steal all their fuel in the night.
deviantdigi 22 Posted July 9, 2012 In zombie apocalypse, gas stations are dry as citizens scavenge and flee. Makes sense imo. Maybe it couldn't be a rare occurrence down the road.Technically then shouldn't you be able to siphon fuel out of other cars? Be happy you have a possibilty to actually refuel a vehicle at the big tanks instead of having none at all. i wish some ressources would be more limited... octarine 60 Posted September 18, 2012 I pulled into the gas station and the attendant was very unpleasant. He just stood there flipping me off and singing one of those new "raP" songs - it just sounded like yelling and growling to me. He was also quite unkempt, I think he was eating the flaming hot Cheetos, his face was all red. I was going to give the station a negative review on Yelp but I can't find a good wifi signal.
