Not nearly enough of this thing, gratitude, going around on these forums, but there are frequent complaints.

I wanted to say thank you to the small team of developers of this game.

The fact that they are still working on improving the experience and continuing to reimplement old features from before Enfusion change, makes me hopeful for the direction of this game. They are listening to feedback.

I spoke about using tools to install and uninstall car parts a year ago, and it was implemented more/less in 1.12 version.

More thanks: ATOG sight reticle is less chunky in 1.12 and a tritium dot for upper iron sight is quite welcome!

What is everyone else thankful for? (I kept my list short intentionally.)

I'm just surprised that Bohemia didn't kill DayZ back in 2017/2018 when game barely had 4k-3k players.

Complaining is good when it's not the same stuff as always "cars fix?", "when 60fps", when those issues have been acknowledged and they are hopefully working on it.

Without player feedback who knows where this game would have ended up. Players are crucial for the life of the game, player's opinion/complaining/critique is crucial for setting the wanted direction of the game, game devs don't have to agree and follow player feedback 100%, but they should still keep in mind that players are the one who will keep the game alive in the long run. Devs can take 50% of the suggestions and take their 50% opinion and combine the two to make a good 100% game.

People don't like the 1.12 zeds (when nobody really complained about 1.11 zeds). Then they tried to make it better (objectively worse), BUT it has a lot more potential if done right.
I would rather have 1.11 zeds for the rest of the game life, than 1.12 zeds. But "1.13" zeds might be better than both of those.
There are so many games where timing attacks and blocking is important, yet in 1.11 it was one shotting zeds, and in 1.12 it's zeds being literal tanks.
There's a fine balance between these 2 extremes, and making the combat actually do what it's supposed to do:
Block or Attack (normal attacks and heavy attacks) or run (worthless since zeds have more stamina, or locking them inside).

Why when I block a Two handed Axe it doesn't hurt me? but when I block the zeds it hurts me half the time?
Why do some normal attacks also cancel zed attacks? All it does is promote mindless M1 spam (1.11 mostly).
There are so many dumb "gamified" mechanics in this game that don't make sense, yet people decide to complain about people complaining about balance.

They made a drastic change and the system was flawed so people are complaining because it's hard to reliably kill a SINGLE zed without getting scratched.

People don't like the shock damage values (nobody really complained about 1.11 values, and some damage values like one shotting SKS, 5.56 dealing like 90 dmg, and so on), yet it's such an extreme change that made plate carriers practically worthless.
Same story as zeds, it requires fine balancing and player feedback.

If you ask me, I don't get why Scout is 5.56. For gameplay purposes it should be a fast reliable round, but shouldn't have enough damage to one shot somebody.
Then they implement the Scout which is 5.56 and bolt-action and now you have the issue of 5.56 being too weak and then they have to buff everything to the extreme values that are 1.12.

Better gun to implement would be a semi-auto 5.56 rifle, if you ask me. An SKS alternative.
And a .308 military spawn bolt-action sniper rifle. Alternative to hunting rifles (it also should have powerful zoom, new scope required).

The fact that players didn't drop the game immediately after it's initial release back in 2014 is more impressive than taking 7 years to get a game to a state such as now.
Yes, yes, yes, there were engine changes yadda yadda, but after 7 years they don't have proper balance of ammo types is insane. Or even after 7 years we don't have properly balanced zeds.

THAT is why people get pissed off and complain about the game.

And I will bring this up every time from now on: Fix the gun fire rate. M4 fires as fast as AK in-game, when it should be approx 50% faster (850-900 RPM M4 vs 600 RPM AK). There are more broken guns, but I won't mention them now.

(sorry for the wall of text, but I'm bored and wanted to share my view on this situation)

Still here after 7 years. Guess that's obvious enough for what i think of the game.

Now if only i could get my bow back and more hunting mechanics then my love for the devs would be over the moon 🙂

I'm a day one xbox player, so not as long as the PC veterans, but long enough to have my moneys worth.

I guess I've always accepted the bugs simply because, well, it's dayz. I don't imagine it will ever be flawless.

So for me, I'm thankful that the game I watched on YouTube for years finally came to console. Hell, I even played ApocZ before dayz to try and get that vibe.

I love that they are gradually adding back in a lot of the survival aspects. I'm really in it for that aspect. The harder the better. I'm rubbish at pvp so avoid it unless I can't. So making the infected harder is a plus for me to.

I do hope the fix the issues with vehicles eventually, but this isn't a game changer for me. I don't mind walking!

And yes, bows would be sweet.

gratitude, gratitude, They removed the things from the game and dismissed them as  flavor , well that flavor was how I played dayz and I can no longer play dayz the same as i did in the past.  So I will save my gratitude for when they restore the flavor to dayz.

@green_mtn_grandbob Cool, man. We’re all waiting for the same things. Maybe you should sign on to be a developer and make a constructive contribution?

It's  too late for me, I'm 81and almost blind, I have 2060 hours in dayz, I started playing  back  in 2015, and like I said  they removed the flavor that I played in the past.

I play a bit once in a wile, But  it's not the same flavor.

I’m picking up what you’re putting down. Though, it’s never too late, G-M-B. At any given second, even though it may not seem so, there is some kind of opportunity.

He bought a product that offered something he was interested in, then it was taken away.  Suggesting that someone should switch careers, to provide criticism is ridiculous.  The responsibility to deliver what was paid for is on the seller.

And we are not waiting for the same things.  Please do not just assume this.  I don't understand why a company is automatically entitled to gratitude.  There is an understanding that a company maintains profitability on their own or sink when they suck.  It's on them.  They reap all the benefits or pay the price.  The consumer here is entitled to nothing and doesn't receive any gratitude, reimbursement, or even guaranteed communication.  This is a business arrangement.  Money doesn't give a shit about gratitude.

@Parazight: It was a tongue-in-cheek way of teasing GMB to "not be so negative." OP was about what type of things make you happy about the game currently.

I was hoping to shift the most common narrative on these forums to a conversation we could all enjoy.

I certainly wasn't asking for the deluge of negativity you just poured out.

No one is entitled to automatically receive gratitude.  It is given through individual volition.  Which just makes you a decent human being.  I'm not going to discuss and debate theology, biology, or immunology, but that is the way the universe works.

And I wasn't assuming at all; GMB specifically mentioned flavor.  Damn right I want those features, too!

If you play the game, there has to be something about it you enjoy, so don't be such a parasite.
