Zombie Spawns

Does anyone know how the zombie respawn works? If you kill all the zombies in a town, will more respawn? My friend and I were holed up in the police station at Kamy, in a firefight with another team. We killed all the zombies that rushed our gunshots (about 15), but then it seemed like a whole new group spawned a minute after that.

zombie respawn will be endless. You will not kill all the zombies, after 5 minutes they will appear again and again and again. This is a problem for DayZ, I think it can be solved, but do the developers want to hear us?

It's not a problem, it's intended.

Infected are programmed to spawn in designated areas when players enter that area, so if you enter a town and kill all the infected but linger in that town, sure, more will spawn and more should spawn.

Why do you consider this a problem?

I think this is a problem because there’s no point in killing zombies. They will appear again and you will spend the ammo in the empty. Most of the players do not kill zombies, but ignore them for this reason. It makes no sense to explore the territory because the zombies will appear again and again. This is bad for gameplay and server load. If it is possible to kill zombies and know that they will no longer appear in this place until the server is restarted, the player can concentrate on other functions. But killing zombies should be very difficult.

In the server files it is possible to increase the "safe zone" so a town will effectively remain cleared until the player leaves the area. This will allow players to clear and search an area without being bothered by respawns, but once they move on the zeds will move back into town, so the next player that approaches will be down on his luck. I'm not sure if you can instead adjust the time it takes before respawns, which I would personally prefer since increasing the safe zone has the unwanted side effect of leaving a town devoid of zombies when a player logs in.
