bent.toe 529 Posted December 22, 2018 (edited) I'm going crazy trying to find a medium tent. It's "easier" to find a large/military tent because they are only located around military bases. But i don't want to carry a large tent in snail speed for 5-6 hours to get where i think is a good base spot. So i'm looking for a medium tent...and boy have i looked, it's like the fucking game is playing with me. At two different playthroughs (out of maybe 60-70 hours since base/tent patch) i been able to find medium tents, one was located in that one floor tavern looking brick building (one restaurant part and one housing part, in the middle room is an old payphone) in the living area and the other tent i found was in those supermarkets with yellow dual doors at the back of the store. Tent was located in the back room with blue lockers. Civilian tents?....feels more like alien tents because they can't be found in our world, that's for sure. Edit* Developers, would it be possible to have large tents spawn at military camps aswell, a wee bit easier to get closer to a civilian area and set up a camp. McWendy 675 Posted December 22, 2018 Its dayz. You always find that what you are not looking for. Better start looking for smth else ;) then you will find one. Dayz logic..... On a serious note: i found mine in garages/sheds (industrial buildings) etc. On a serious warning: persistence is not yet guaranteed so finding and placing/keeping one is a hit and miss business. Yeah, that's why i stick to tents. Not gonna spend 50 hours building fences and watchtowers only to have them gone in a heartbeat because of some crash or removal of the server.
IMT 3190 Posted December 22, 2018 I found a Civilian tent in a shed yesterday.
bent.toe 529 Posted December 22, 2018 What kind of shed? Metal ones? The wooden ones? Was it near houses? Garage? Factory? The loot system is flawed on so many levels.
Mookie (original) 799 Posted December 22, 2018 I've seen a few in the red two-storey houses. Also in large industrial buildings. No sure why this is evidence of a 'flawed' loot system tbh…

No sure why this is evidence of a 'flawed' loot system tbh… I got facts and hundreds of hours of server hopping. It's in another thread over at xbox PS. Could someone on pc open the .ini files or try and find where specific items are coded to spawn. A medium tent will never spawn in military bases for example. But what locations will they spawn? A medkit always spawn in medical houses/hospitals. Surely someone can crack the loot spawning system. Edited December 23, 2018 by bent.toe
Mookie (original) 799 Posted December 23, 2018 You crack it with experience. Or, if you really want to, by looking at things like iZurvive. But they take time to update as things change with a new patch. It sounds to me as if you want things to be where you want them to be, always and predictably. However, because something can spawn in a certain building does not mean it will spawn there. And the coast has always been a little light on spawns anyway - hence the second (or is it the third?) rule of DayZ - Get Off the Coast. I say again; no evidence that this means the loot system is 'broken'. It's just 'difficult'. I note in that thread you say you are 'not server hopping', but here you have 'hundreds of hours' of doing it. At least be honest.

But i got bored and did not really play the game. A lot of members on here should start to be honest though, most players server hopp but would never admit it. I do. And yes, i would like to see logic placement of things. We see this at military bases and camps, we see this at firestations, we see this at the hunting lodges and at hospitals/medical buildings. But we don't see logic in restaurants or civilian housing or even supermarkets or stores. Hiking through 4 major cities (plus small villages on the way) for 5+ hours, looking for a civilian medium tent and not finding one is horribly wrong...that is a flawed loot system and only encourage server hopping. BUT you will only see how the loot system works if you server hopp.
Mookie (original) 799 Posted December 24, 2018 The logic is there. Part of logic, however, is distinguishing between a necessary condition (that it's possible something may spawn somewhere), and a sufficient one (that it will).

The loot system is difficult and/or frustrating but I don't think it's wrong or flawed. To me, that's a part of the charm of dayz! I only play on private servers. You should try it, I think it enhances the experience and it eliminates the temptation/habit of hopping.
