Honestly, walking around for 5 hours looking for a single item in the same server is just a waste of time.  If you haven't found at least one of that item in an hour of looting, you SHOULD switch servers. Not server hop the same building over and over until you find it, but I've noticed it seems as though there are several sets of loot distribution for any given server. Sometimes you have to find the right set for a better chance of finding the item you are looking for.

Remember, bent.toe is the player who says he'd rather kill himself and respawn than make a splint.  He was just boasting about it 2 days ago.
