RIP DayZ - Yogcast started a LP

Not RIP Dayz, quite the contrary, this is all good stuff. Admittedly the LP itself was horrible and very misleading, but - the more people find out about DayZ, the more people find out about ARMA (which up till now really was a complete niche game, be honest here). Doing a LP on a hack server isn't really a good way to introduce this mod. I'm also pretty sure we'll have another wave of people just spamming the forums "Lol no gun wtf?", but to be honest - who cares - that's exactly what discussion boards are there for.

Some of the hardcore mil-sim people are butthurt, pissed and/or envious at DayZ because their loved little game has gained massive attention by a mod that features so many things they loathe. Still in the end its the best thing that can happen to BI, ARMA 2, ARMA 3 and of course DayZ.

Because a lot of their primary subscribers are younger players, and I don't care what anyone likes to claim, younger players whine a hell of a lot more.

When they end up buying the game with their pocket money, paper round money, daddies credit card and start getting killed left right and center, not spawning with a weapon and generally finding it hard, they will come running to the forums and whining.

The more than whine, the more it looks like it's what the general player base wants (and may even turn to be the general player base) thus in turn, the game has a chance (depending on how much Rocket can take of the whiny dribbling from the kids) to consume itself and head off into the same direction as all other mainstream games, catering to the casuals.

This and the fact that I guarantee you that these children won't under stand what an Alpha is, nor will they understand what a Mod is and start demanding things, throwing their toys out the pram and jumping up and down on how they spent money on this game and deserve whatever shit they think they deserve.

That's MY reason to being against it. I think that's a good enough reason and whether you do or not doesn't make your decision any more important.

We are overestimating the effect that their video will have. As a gamer, it did not cater to me at all. It looks like a boring sandbox game where you walk around killing bugged zombies and collecting soda cans.

Just hope this starts a thing going, so that we don't only get Yogscast followers, but TotalBiscuit's and so on so forth to balance the community. Matter in fact, didn't TB just make a Mega WTF Is about it? Oh yes, he did.

A fraction of their viewers are kids. The majority who are find Day Z to be a copycat of MC and hate it anyways. It is rockets experiment and even without the Yogcast group all this community does is whine anyways. Oh and they are from Minecraft I think they would understand the Alpha and Beta phase. MC was essentially the game that made it possible for alpha and beta stage to be profitable.

1. This mod has been viral for 2 fucking months. If anyone who is subbed to them has yet to discover this mod than they must be solely fed by the Yogscast.

2. Everyone who isn't you and your little group of "higher ups" are capable of playing Day Z from many different styles. This isn't the slave trade. You aren't any better for not playing CoD or L4D. Saying that the younger players like to whine means nothing, seeing as DayZ has the exact same issue with it's community. The only difference is that the DayZ community is gernally above the age of 16, so when we whine, we can REALLY whine.

Now for the next bit! Not a lot of them will end up getting this mod...they will get stuck on buying it, installing it, launching it and playing it. Sure, a fair amount will come to the forums asking for help, but what do you expect? It was going to happen sooner or later...you can't have a game as popular as this go unnoticed by everyone under the age of 16. Most of them will leave anyway. The long trecks through the woods, the unforgiving players and zombies, and the general Alphaness of it all will get over 90% of these kis out before the week is up.

If Rocket had any interest in catering for casuals he would of done it by now...every patch has made the game harder than the last, and there is no evidence that it is gonna stop. Also, the whole 'Most won't come and who does will leave' makes it seem kinda unlikely that Rocket will suddenly collapse at his computer from the sheer number of children asking dumb ass questions.

There really is no need to complain about kids knowing about this game...

You are the essence of a idiot. as the game grows more and more viral "kids" will play this game regardless of yogcast. your not going to stop that unless you dont want the game to grow at all. there was a point in time where CoD and Halo wasnt ruled by the 13-15 kiddies btw. as it grew in popularity however kids started running over to it just like with ANY popular game.
