Found Brian Hicks youtube channel - faith in dev partially restored :D

Recommended Posts

I just found Brian Hicks, the creative director's youtube channel from before he was involved in standalone development and I am glad to say I think we are in good hands despite the somewhat slow progress of the games development pace. Also, he sounds like the ship captain guy from Serenity/Fire Fly, Nathan Fillion I think his name is, he even talks/act like him, its weird, but very cool. Major points right there :) But he also has tons of experience with DayZ as it mainly has been in the past and is well used to using all the rare weapons and stuff. My only worry is that based on his videos, since he ran with a group and seemed to have tons of funs with other people, he might be unfamiliar with how it is to play alone and only rely on the game itself for the fun your having. I think solo players really need a bit more stuff to do, more interesting things to find, places to explore because they don't have other people making them laugh while running around Chernerus. Anyway, still fun to watch. Some of his videos are hilarious.

How could this guy F up DayZ development. Faith partially restored. Yay

eh....so long as there are no choppers involved and DayZ development doesn't start being run from a helicopter, I think we're okay.....

It's important to keep in mind that no one person has complete control of DayZ SA.

Peter worked closely with Rocket while he was at Bohemia to internalize the core concepts of his vision to be carried forth after his leaving.

If you're looking for the lone wolfs' or true survivors biggest champion, I've always felt that person was Peter from pretty early on.

DayZ SA has been an extremely difficult project to follow and if you haven't stayed glued to every status report and relevant dev post it has been easy to lose sight of the projects direction or even it's current status.

A lot of people have 1,000's of hours playing a broken test bed but cannot take a few minutes every 2 weeks to read a report about the actual development, so trying to have meaningful discussions about the direction of the game becomes even more difficult.

Anyway, patience and perspective is the key to understanding the building of anything.

Try to use your DayZ time pragmatically to avoid meltdown or burnout.

Remember there will be countless hours of feature complete DayZ to be played and that's what we are working towards.
