Can't launch DayZ since windows10 update

Recommended Posts

Clicking the steam link to launch the game but the process never starts and a second or two later steam says it's shut down again.

When trying to directly launch DayZ_ BE.exe I get this error message.

I've tried re-installing dayZ and battle-eye and running everything as admin, but no joy.

Well, reinstalled the game on steam, deleted and reinstalled battleye,  tried running everything as admin... nothing seems to work.

I can still play Arma3 Breaking-Point at least... might check on this game again when I can actually launch it.

I had no problems with Dayz when I upgraded from 7 to 10.

Later I did a clean install of 10 and also had no problems.

@tet5uo are you talking about an upgrade from a previous version to 10 or did you get problems with the latest update?

I'm not sure if it's Windows 10's fault or what. I know a lot of people who have upgraded, myself included, and have yet to have any issue. Actually, I noticed a significant increase in launch performance as far at time to launch the game is concerned. I would say dig around online. Windows 10 has been a thing and I'm sure others have resolved the same issuse-assuming Windows 10 is the issue.

This one seems really hard to find any info on. There is only this cryptic error message.

The problem did indeed begin after the upgrade from windows 7 to 10.

dayZ seems to be the only application that had an issue with it. Everything else is working perfectly.

Could be related to drivers I guess or some other software.

See this search and read until you find some stuff to try: https://www.google.nl/#safe=off&q=dayz.exe+bad+image

You could try doing a clean install of the GPU driver (or update).

Yeah, the GPU drivers have been clean-installed since the update to win10 already. I'm not sure it's a driver issue, as they're all working flawlessly with other games installed on my system including arma 3.

I'm trying a re-install of the game again but this time I nuked all it's directories and files that got left over after the uninstall. Hope I don't break my bandwidth for the month with all this re-downloading of the game :D

Still not able to launch it after a complete re-install.  Oh well was worth a shot I guess.

OK it was the sound patch i got with updates that would not launch dayz.

I had to revert my windows 10 to last, and the soundblaster z worked again. I did updates too last week and the same issue happened.

https://www.drivereasy.com/knowledge/fix-windows-10-no-sound-issue/

Read aug 1st thats exactly what i found first, then TS and dayz wouldn't work.

August 1, 2016 at am4:53

After following instructions here I have my sound back but it’s so low that I can not hear it as it’s so faint. It’s fine on YouTube but Netflix or any other such programs volumn is so low I can’t hear the programs.

reasons are why windows 10 had to be fixed as far as i know was the problem with UE4 AMD sound?? and poor performances AMD had in general with games. It was outdated in windows from what i gathered months ago.

Example info

As I mentioned UE4 uses Microsofts XAudio2 engine. Since windows Vista (~2007) games using this API offload all sound processing onto the CPU, the sound card will then do its portion afterwords filtering or enhancing based on the cards specs. However the CPU is still processing the sound primarily. FX processors are processing the sounds 6 times slower than intel, there is a UE4 forum with Epic employees stating these figures. They are working on a replacement for XAudio2

Tack on everything else going through the single core on top of that and you see it get bogged down. Even Intel + Nvidia cards have a limited FPS on larger servers, albeit much higher FPS overall, due to server limitations which will be optimized in the future.

So this maybe the update we where waiting for but it damaged something in my system with audio.

In my case I just got the game working again by manually repairing all of the MS C++ redistributables.
