improvised leather back pack.

anyone else having trouble crafting this? i have tanned teh hide and i have rope and sticks but when i try to combine the rope it wont do anything.

You do not tan the hide for the boar backpack. Afraid you can only make an improvised leather backpack now. You need 5 leather and a leather sewing kit, I think. Still is a pretty nice bag! Also, there is a Wiki and the search takes only a couple of seconds. For next time.

i tried searching it just said used tan hide and only boar works

You don't tan it- he already said. Wherever you saw you need to tan it is wrong. The boar backpack is my goto- my favourite. Do not tan it.

 

The leather sac is different as he also said... involves more of a process. I think the sac has more storage but is quite a bit bulkier and the colouring is brighter. I haven't tried dying them yet but I suspect if it looks like everything else does when it's coloured it'll look terrible.

the leather sack is actually only 24 spaces and the improvised leather pack is 25.  the leather sack dyes to a brown color similar to brown hunter jacket and pants, though calls itself black.

OKay just assumed it had more spaces because it is quite a bulkier profile. Thanks for the clarification!

Leather sack can be dyed with nails to turn it maroonish which looks horrible or dye it with bark (about 8-9 bark) for dark brown. Boar backpack needs rope then 3 sticks for maximum slots.

Hot tip- right click the barrel and click dye leather sack or whatever it says a couple times to hurry up the colouring.

Wait - that made me think - without the sticks, can you make a "boar-courier-bag"? Or will it only craft the boar-backpack and you can't make anything, unless you add the sticks?

It's the same as a burlap so you get courier or improvised depending on whether you add sticks.
