Infected, what to expect

Infected,

If i shoot my gun off around a group of players, where does the infected run too?

The group of players correct?

What if the group of players take off in all directions, where does the infected run too?

The person who fired off the gun correct?

What if the player fired off at a player running by, where does the infected run too?

The person who fired off the gun correct?

 

What happened to sound direction, a bang, followed by a whistle sound close by the player. Would the infected not hear that sound, followed by the player running by? Pickup on the sound, then see a player running by and the infected run off to the running player instead thinking the sound is correct....

instead? the infected rush towards the sound, ignoring the running player. Even though the person who fired the gun is hidden inside a house, hidden behind a glass structure and ducked low.

My point being, AI logics is not there.

First of all, rifle shot can be heard for +/- a mile in all directions on level terrain. Anything more than a .38 round is pretty jarring in general and would be the single most intense focus of the AI not some bullet whizzing sound. The sound of bullets bouncing off things already aggros the infected because most sounds over a certain volume threshold at least draw them in the general direction of the sound.

Secondly, Beta is for balance and fine tuning.

Bonus facts, glass cannot be well hidden behind unless it's a 1 way mirror (did I really just type that?), we haven't even touched dynamic infected spawn or real horde mechanics yet.

You might want to reassess your own logic, friend.

Its hard to, when confused about the infected logic. Do they go right or left knowing a running player has just wiz'd by or do they go straight to the player.

Well the glass thing was added, its broken so you ducked behind the wall, just peering out of the window frame. Hardly seeing your eyes. =D

Right now i know of them heading straight towards the gun shots, is this the way it is going to be or did they say AI intelligence will be added to run off towards the player.

Since the area of blast can be heard as a BOOM, it would seem the running player was the one who made the sound.

I have seen infected switch aggro to a nearby player as it was running by.

For example, my friend would fire, and we might run, but when the infected caught up to us the infected was aggro'd to me not him.

I'm sure infected AI will see a lot of tweaks and balancing. It's come a long way since the beginning and will almost certainly demand the attention of the devs past 1.0.

I am not only looking forward to improved and expanded AI but I will be thrilled when we start to really get the new infected models in large numbers.

larger numbers should be added as soon as possible.. that'll reduce all those trigger happy KoSers on NWA and hotspots like cherno.. now you randomly pick off 7-8 zombies at military on your own using nothing more then a 1911 or some swift footwork and an axe.. taking out 7 zombies with little to NO damage.. 

I bet that'll change once the ATC/barracks are populated by 10-20 zombies per area.. so maybe 50-60 zombies on NWA and over a 100 in the entire area of cherno.. that'll also give birth to new players in the private whitelist RP community of DayZ. zombie hunters.. then you'll have a legit reason to loot an base or barrack and walk out with a mosin 3 mags and 200 rounds of ammo. <-- example

This has been said COUNTLESS times and it's still true.

Thankfully, we will be getting dynamic zombie spawn in .60.

This will offer the illusion of many more infected around the map and for all intents and purposes will play that way.
