Where are the bloody infected~~!!

Recommended Posts

Love the game, cant wait until its all done, Just wish there was more news and/or info, on what is happening with the infected. Considering it is a game based around the infected, would love to see what loving is happening to them. Keep up the good work!

[side joke] they're all dead.. [/side joke]

on topic: the answer to your question lies with the engine optimization process.

in order for the game to run

- with good FPS
- good looking environment
- a lot of players around the map
- lots of animals
- massive hordes of zombies/walkers

the engine need to be able to process all that's happening IN the game, this also includes zombie actions/path finding/sounds/damage profile
most of these things are channeled through the rendering engine and game engine.. (correct me if i'm wrong)

at this time, the game engine nor the rendering engine are remotely powerful enough to sustain overall performance (30 FPS minimum 40-60 FPS on average
so adding a brick load of zombies in the game at this point would probably break in completely. with all the problems/more delays to follow after that happens.

so long story short: the software is not yet up to the task of managing tons of zombies/actions/players and other activity's in the current version/installment of dayZ standalone.

You know there are some out there that still believe the Zombies are actually "Infected, still alive" humans and that there are no zombies in this game. You know, sometimes i just feel like pressing F11, with a pen in my freaking hand.

Haha you know on the topic of them being infected and not "undead"... I was playing Dying Light the other day and one of the more aggressive feral ladies put up her hands like no no please don't when I whacked her upside the head with a flaming baseball bat. Needless to say it made me pause and kinda blew my mind a bit because I realized they where still alive, for the first time murdering "Zombies" I felt empathy. It would be cool if they occasionally spoke or something in DayZ at some point. She lunged at me again and I beat the crap out of her, but it was one of those small moments that really add something special to that game. It's the only time I can recall ever being given a reason to pause in a zombie beat down.

Yeah, well zombies is a general term for mindless animalistic humanoids.

Infected is a more specific term and in this case does imply they are not undead.

We don't "believe" the infected are "still alive", it's a fact of lore.

Have a nice day. Please do not misinform. This is why you don't HAVE to get a headshot for a kill....

Thanks.

Aggressive aggressiveness or flame posting can get a body banned from here.... Next time I'll be sure to offer a warm glass of milk with your fact check?

I've read and internalized nearly everything made public about DayZ development since my join date. To me the details matter, and setting the record straight matters too. Although in the sea of misinformation that is the DayZ community I know it's a drop in the bucket, but I guess in this case you got my overall point, so cheers.

(I miss the pacard facepalm emoticon we had....)

The will be nice When a zombie bites you, you turn into a zombie I mean, not right away. But the change after some time if you can not find a suitable vaccine in hospitals. And how you turn it you play as a zombie or you can go wherever you want but you can not collect things, shoot and so on. But you have very good hearing, vision, and you are strong.

Canonically, the players are immune to the "zombie disease", which I personally find a cop-out, but whatever.
