Weyland Yutani (DayZ) 1159 Posted December 27, 2015 I thought they were adding new engine components to the game in the 0.59 build? In the status report it says: Animation System:Currently Completed:- Animation Engine Base- Animation Engine Editor Renderer:Currently Completed:- DX 11 Water Surface Rendering- DX 11 Ambient Occlusion Currently Completed doesn't exactly mean deployed. Water doesn't look different to me. I'm pretty sure there is no new animation system visible. My GSP said the servers are using more memory and need to charge more money so that means they must have added something new other than whats in the changelog (Oo wait...what changelog?). Bororm 1156 Posted December 27, 2015 Those are internal goals they've met, not the publicly released ones. I agree the wording on them is pretty bad, like most of the information they put out. They really should have hired a PR person years ago.
Etherious 907 Posted December 28, 2015 (edited) Ok, seriously? You should know they won't implement parts of the new renderer into the game. Also, your trying to tie into the whole GSP server price thing again. Edited December 28, 2015 by DJ SGTHornet
Weyland Yutani (DayZ) 1159 Posted December 28, 2015 Also, your trying to tie into the whole GSP server price thing again.Actually, I'm not (even though thats a decent deduction based on my thread post from within the last hour). I've been wanting to post this thread as soon as I read the status report. Just haven't had the time, busy month.
Accolyte 1727 Posted December 28, 2015 (edited) Also, your trying to tie into the whole GSP server price thing again. Let's give him the benefit of the doubt and not steer the discussion that way ourselves and keep it to the appropriate thread, shall we? :) Edited December 28, 2015 by Accolyte
.Smitty. 7 Posted December 28, 2015 Anyways.... going away from the topic of GSP prices... Rocket has said that the new Enfusion Engine is going to be released modularly over time.
sneakydudes 278 Posted December 28, 2015 Who? isn't he not apart of BI, Dayz team now. Or did he come back to work and we don't know about it. Or do you mean Hicks?
Etherious 907 Posted December 28, 2015 Let's give him the benefit of the doubt and not steer the discussion that way ourselves and keep it to the appropriate thread, shall we? :)Alright, I shall do that. OP: Anyhoot, back to the topic....I don't think that won't be seeing any new parts of the renderer anytime soon. Just because they have finished some good major pieces of it, doesn't mean they will show it to us on Stable / Experimental just yet. I am more than sure there are some kinks in the new pieces of the renderer.
S3V3N 1402 Posted December 28, 2015 (edited) Renderer:Currently Completed:- DX 11 Water Surface Rendering- DX 11 Ambient Occlusion Currently Completed doesn't exactly mean deployed. Water doesn't look different to me. I'm pretty sure there is no new animation system visible. My GSP said the servers are using more memory and need to charge more money so that means they must have added something new other than whats in the changelog (Oo wait...what changelog?). SOURCE: https://dayz.com/blog/status-report-10-dec-2015 Ok, the new animation engine uses locomotion and human IK. That will do a lot of things, like more natural (procedural) transition over objects and collisions with them, not stopping to pull out another weapon + overall more fluent animation blending. The DX11 renderer, on the other hand, means that they step up from DX9 - which was a 32bit system only able to use 8 Gigabyte of memory at most, to a 64bit system, which is able to make better use of all your leet PCs, which have 64 Gigabyte of currently completely useless memory ;)A 64bit server is hugely faster than the old 32 ones and thus costs more in the hire. So that's an investment into the future and a huge step up for the game. I find Dayz looks differently all the time. For example, we now see atmospheric fog, which makes the game a lot more pretty on long viewing distance. I also notice trial and error with when the different detail models (LOD) are loaded for the player. Those features will be added. I just pray the devs DON'T make a roadmap for the public this year, because all they achieve with it is the feeling of being massively behind their development goals and giving people and oportunity to grief. The game is quite good now, even though it is flawed. But the time to get rid of the kinks is not the Alpha, that's what Beta is for. For now, we'll see more functionality added without it necessarily working flawlessly. Expect more bugs and problems, but don't assume nothing is getting done!
