iClown 29 Posted December 9, 2015 I dont understand. Instead of tires being everywhere, which are sometimes hard to navigate around in small sheds, why not make them a fixed resource something like chicken coops producing feathers? Certain buildings that may or may not contain a stack of tires. They could be dynamic like the heli crash or cop cars... Tires particularly. The integral stuff like spark plugs and battery... why not spawn them in specific locations in some sort of abundance dynamic style?
S3V3N 1402 Posted December 10, 2015 That's a question I ask myself too. It's so unlogical. Why would I find tracksuit jackets in a gas station, but no equipment to fix cars? Why don't the (bigger) bus stations spawn wheels, etc? These buildings should work like the police stations and spawn these items more regularly than elsewhere. It's just a few buildings that need to have changed spawns. Overall the distribution is pretty okay and I'd still want these items to spawn elsewhere. Espa 711 Posted December 10, 2015 I know a few would really love this to be true, but I'm not sure it fits the idea of DayZ. . Since the game is truly a dynamic and randomized loot cycle, I rather prefer things to be a mystery when I open doors and find my shineys. NOW! I wouldn't mind there to be a new Structure in certain cities, such as a Car Dealership where you could most definitely find all sorts of parts in abundance - albeit only a few and spread far across the map. Perhaps one in Cherno and one in a more Northern Village.

Mechanic shops etc.. I totally agree these parts should be there. The odd smaller part inside the shed or on a shelf. Otherwise tires stacked outside the shed is perfectly fine. +
iClown 29 Posted December 10, 2015 (edited) i think they do plan to utilize that new tool to control item spawns for this sorta thing but it still seems smarter to have a bulk of tires spawn in stacks or something that way 1) you wouldnt have to hunt for hours for damn tires as u do at current and 2) wouldnt have them clustering space all around the map in little sheds or where ever they might decide to make them spawn. they already have the mechanics for this and no doubt they need to refine them to work for this sorta thing.like finding a rock or picking an apple or searching for chicken feathers... hell even drinking from the well.rocks could probably just be infinite but none of the rest of it should be and it shouldnt be a chance that you dont find a rock or apple or whatever... its obvious! yer in a pile of rocks! but maybe you could deplete the source of apples or chicken feathers or water... tires... etc... The most you should find is two tires sitting together , that way you still have to work for the other two . I agree with everyone a little bit , but what espa said is true : we don't want to have guaranteed spawns (like the m4 used to be in fire houses and military barracks) , it becomes too easy to predict where they are . In real life That's a non-issue , but in a video game trying to stay as balanced as possible it seems too easy to have specific spawns , even when they spawn dynamically because then ppl would server hop garages for tires like they do dynamic heli crashes (which further minimizes the areas in which people do server hop , so instead of server hopping after searching a whole town , they would just find the nearest cluster of gas stations and bus depots and quickly find a stack). My suggestion is just a slight spin off of your own : increase the tire drop rate for garages , gas stations, and bus depots greatly (like military guns/ammo to barracks , you need to search them more instead of civilian house to get the ammo you need) reduce [slightly] the drop rate in sheds and allow them to spawn with another tire randomly in all areas , not as a dynamic event but just as a new item so to speak , one that would represent two tires and would need to be seperated ... Maybe they would be tied together looking like they were ready to sell needing a knife to cut, after all an added bonus should always need something extra to get it ! S3V3N 1402 Posted December 10, 2015 (edited) I don't think stacks is a good idea , it makes it too easy ...It wouldn't be that easy. You could still find single tires elsewhere, but if you want the lot, you go to the warehouse/storage/mall/hardware shop, or whatever we want to call the place. Think of this, like a military building - but for tires and vehicle parts. If only a few of them are on the map and they are positioned nearly equally far from certain vehicle spawns around them, these structures would have a lot of traffic and be somewhat dangerous; they could also be a good oportunity to meet other people, who also are rebuilding cars. Personally, I keep thinking of scrapyards and wasteyards and such, where they always have huge stacks of tires and cars sitting around ready for wrecking. We have tiny scrapyards that look more like parking lots with a lot of rusty cars on them. We could have some real scrapyards with quite a lot of space to cover and explore and they could have heaps of metal and parts, next to stacks of old cars, tires, spare parts, etc. A goodsource for metal, so it'd probably be a useful place to check when basebuilding, too. The scrapyard might also be a place to find a tow truck or a bed for the V3S that turns it into a tow truck. On top of it all a scrapyard could be an awesome place for fights and simply be very interesting to see and explore. I'd like a proper scrapyard design and for it to be added to the map. Even though I like the idea of having a mall, it doesn't really fit the time and region, but a scrapyard is something universally known and looking kinda the same all over the world. Later on, there could perhaps be a version for ships, too. With a massive ship graveyard full of partially recycled wrecks. (since ships are going to be a drivable vehicle at some point, too). There is still so much void around Rify... I like this idea. iClown, you are so good at giving me reason to think about features I would like to see! Thanks :) Edited December 10, 2015 by S3V3N
iClown 29 Posted December 10, 2015 (edited) I think its already extremely predictable. If you cant find tires right now Idk what to tell you... I also dont mean to suggest an infinite resource. Same for chicken coops and apple trees. A stack of tires might have 4 tires on it and only 4 tires, once they were gone then the stack could spawn elsewhere. You could make it a lot less predictable as far as exactitude by just having a whole lot of places they could spawn and a whole lot less actual occurances. You would still have to run back and forth to this place where the tires are and your bus or truck or what have you several times (since you can only carry 1 tire at a time) which would probably just make it a touch more risky. Then you still need a battery and a spark/glow plug (a light if you haven't figured out you can push 'L' and turn them on with or without).I think this mechanic needs to be worked on either way though. Chicken coops should not have an infinite amount of chicken feathers while you can only find 1 every 10 attempts. I dont know if this is some simple code where they base the chances off some sort of dice roll or something but it feels like it and even I could code that. It should be a depletable resource. Something that would replenish over time. Same with apple trees. Same with berries. Same with gardens even for a time.Wells could/should work the same way... especially wells... obvious reasons. As far as two tires together I think that might be what is already going on... I see the double tire and not single bus/truck tires now but I have not messed with any of that because, no offense to the devs, the driving is hardly sufficient as regards the fruits of ones labor Edited December 11, 2015 by iClown
