VIPEREYE1 17 Posted September 26, 2015 (edited) How about having some thing to show for bandit you killed? The collection of teeth and crafting of a necklace? with an option to hang off your vest or rifle if adding a necklace feature does not seem workable. A trophy system would also allow you to identify bandits if they happen to use them openly. It could used as a way to count your kill's, perhaps you could cut notch's into the stock of your rifle with a knife using the crafting system. It would be nice to keep score in the actual game ;) I would also like to see this happen with deer antlers. ever more amazing is if the deer could have there own individual "rack" size. So when you find that rare 30 pointer you could hang it on the wall of your camp. Edited September 26, 2015 by VIPEREYE1

☣BioHaze☣ 7337 Posted September 27, 2015 There's no such thing as a "bandit". Your definition of a bandit in DayZ is probably different than mine. Try to take almost everything you know about DayZ and change it..... that's what we are in store for. Your game experience is going to change greatly. Possibly to the point where the last of your concerns will be human or animal trophies.

Because my fingers are crossed for a radical change. Are you referring to up comming mods?
☣BioHaze☣ 7337 Posted September 27, 2015 This is ALPHA running on ancient tech. For example, the upcoming changes to the character animation system and stamina system are going to change how you move through everything. Running and sprint distances, melee, weapon sway, and many other things will be effected by this. That's just a couple of features on the near horizon that will change how you play. Loot/ammo scarcity, advanced medical, dangerous infected, advanced vehicles, base building, soft skills.... Please, go read the status reports until your eyes glaze over.... it's all in there. Syphonz 64 Posted October 4, 2015 -snip-I agree with these things. However, this does add one more step to the uniqueness of the character. People are looking for ways to make their character have a story. Thats what dayz is about. Player interaction, and building their own unique characters story. If you took a characters "ear" for example, might showcase people that this guy isn't someone to be fucked with. Or it could attract like minded people. Or take it a step further, taking animal skins. Yes, we already have leather capability. I know this is taking it a bit far, but, adding to a base for example, a deers head on a wall. Bear fur. You name it. All in the progession of customization.
☣BioHaze☣ 7337 Posted October 4, 2015 -snip- All in the progession of customization. Ok, but trophies of an animal or human sort should be low on the list of things to be added, IMO. That was my point. It doesn't add much to the game yet it would take a lot of programming mechanics and models.

I check brian hicks eugene twitter daily and check up on the trello often. i am fully aware of these changes, and even though they are very nice reworks the majority of them are not going to change my game play experience greatly. Zombies however depending on how they rework them has all the potential in the world to change the way Dayz is played. Fingers crossed for good zombies. Then you must not have understand what you've read.... lol? I meant changes to how you physically play DayZ. Those changes can and will affect the choices you make. This is including but not limited to KoS. 1: Running and sprint distances - if you are accustomed to being able to run forever, now you'll have to be more careful in how you engage infected/people because you can't infinitly run every where. When weight of gear is taken into account we will have different run distances based on different load outs. 2: Melee - changes to melee mechanics will likely be tied to stamina as well making it impossible for you to just hold LMB and swing forever. 3: Loot/ammo scarcity - "I've only come across 12 bullets that match my rifle in 5 hours of playing. Should I KoS this guy in this small town who is creeping between 15 zombies and risk attracting them to me or should I try other possible approaches?" 4: Advanced medical - The more I fight with infected, the more I risk complicated infections that demand rare medical supplies. Every interaction with a player might potentially expose you to infections. Broken bones will no longer be instantly healed in the future either. ^How could you possibly play in a way that includes all these game changing elements right now? You were thinking of all of this when you said that Zombies are the only thing that will change how you play? lol? :emptycan:

It just all comes down to Zombie and animal A.I for me, and raising the player count in order to enhance the level of player encounters west. If they keep adding threats to my survival (weather, medical, wounds,) and the game keeps me on my toe's with zombies and the like then i applaud these changes. If i'm running around untouched, wondering what the hell to do with my life like i am now, then i will be seriously disappointed. Long term players need some thing more to do during "down time" because a lot of people still like the game, it's just that the nostalgia or freshness has wore off after 2 years.I want to see dev's add features that add to our imagination and keep our minds in the character development/ role play state of mind. I'm faithful yet skeptical of the future, ill just have to wait and see how it all plays out. i just hope that all the set backs the dev team has had does not take away from what we could have had in the games final build. I'm willing to wait an infinite amount of time if needed i would pay twice to for them to keep developing Dayz into 2018. VIPEREYE1 17 Posted October 8, 2015 You know what really sucks? That no zombie survival games are fully finished besides dayz mod as of today, such as: H1Z1, Dayz SA, Rust (which is not a zombie survival but still in the genre) Arma 3 exile version on Dayz, all the copy cat survival games, even projoct zomboid is still in alpha lmao. It's a rough time being a survival enthusiast these days.
☣BioHaze☣ 7337 Posted October 8, 2015 If you think about it, it's a really a new genre of sorts (sandbox survival horror), that DayZ spawned. I think your doubts are mostly unfounded and I think (even though it sucks) we should expect 1.0 to be quite a bit later than originally thought. Now if you have some patience and let's say an ounce of empathy for the task that the devs have ahead of them, you might even be ok with it (being late) as long as we get a better DayZ in the end. :)
cash81 506 Posted October 8, 2015 I like the idea of notches in your rifle. Make it very visible so that if you are talking to someone you can take a peak to see. It would be interesting to see if people put a few notches just to make it look like they are more dangerous, and vise versa. Or have it so fatal kills automatically makes a notch on the gun you used. Although that isnt exactly realistic...
☣BioHaze☣ 7337 Posted October 9, 2015 Any symbol you add yourself immediately becomes meaningless. White armband mean friendly? Every bandit wears a white armband. 20 notches to make me look badass? Every tool shed puts 20 notches on their buttstock.
