Let me save you a headache and tell you where to NOT setup camp

Recommended Posts

I never use tents or stock places tbh, I don't even know why the hell would I want that. Whats the reason for stockpiling? I mean, I usually go like this: Fresh respawn, loot basic gear, go towards military bases to find good shit and either die there and fresh respawn again, or if I find the good gear now its random wandering through the map until something kills me. If I didn't find good gear, go to next military place/heli crash until I'm happy with what I got and then random wandering through the map until something kills me.

Stockpiling good loot would make me avoid going to military places once I fresh respawn, but then I just miss one of the most fun part of my life cycle that is the risk in military bases and the whole searching for what I want, and jump right into the most boring part, that is random wandering until something kills me.

I'm probably missing something, idk.

Me and my brother set up camps and stock them, so that we can switch between playstyles/types of gear, depending on our mood. If we die during a particular playstyle, we don't have to loot again to get geared up.

[Die being friendly: go get the mil gear. Had enough deathmatching: go get the survivor gear.]

Also, we really like just... having a camp.

It's swell and rewarding after a day of looting to come home to a cozy camp, where we have everything we need.

And it gives you something to do, a responsibility: "Hey, we need to get more food/medicine, do we go hunting or looting?" And security: "Hey, we want to go be goofy on the coast, drop the all guns and good stuff, just bring the pistols in case."

The northern and western edges of the map are among the first places I plan to look once I get some basic gear tonight.  I just know people will actually believe these areas are good hiding spots, they did on EXP all the time...

Another tip. You're better off looking for camps on usually low pop public servers.

People love to stash their goods on the low pops to reduce chances of a find.

Exactly this.my buddy and I used to keep most primaries at my camp in 0.55 just so I could run a different kit every few days or as I felt like it. It took about a month to get to that point with how effective server hopping and how limiting lootsplosions were back then, but it was still fun. We also had enough zombies to shoot that no matter what we did, we were always continually depleting resources. Some days we could just wander around the map killing every infected we found. Other days we had to go find specific supplies to restock the camp. Towards the end, we supplied 4 people from our camp and all had free choice of what they wanted to run with.

And I agree. Coming home to a relative safe zone where you can relax, heal up if needed, organize stuff, cook, shoot random things (we sometimes just dumped mag after mag into various trees and such), etc. is nice.

EDIT: Also, I'm from Cumberland County. :)

I am willing to bet that everyone that complains about the map being "too small" has not yet left the "busy areas".

I've spent a week on a full-pop server, every day, trekking all across the area bounded by Pusta, Nadezhdino, Tulga, and the Black Forest. I never saw a soul, never heard a shot. Throw a tent up into a side-valley in those mountains, and it will probably never be found.

Or, one of the many many fields that lie out in the middle of nowhere.

It's one thing if you're playing on a server which almost noone else plays on. But if you're playing on a popular high-pop server, you've got 50 guys running around 24/7. At one point in a future not too far away, they are collectively bound to have seen every place on the map.

People play on public servers? Blech! At least on a private server you know someone has to physically move through and area to get to where you are and can't just server hop over and over at a good location to get gear but have to actually move around the map.

It's beyond fun to camp and kill server hoppers, though. Justice.

no, nonononono

..//..

don't set up some barrels in the middle of the map where nobody runs along, especially not in the thick small pine tree forrests where nobody bothers to look

..//..

Damn - for 100 years I've been putting my stash tent about 4 trees back from any main road junction in the country between towns - ya know the place nobody goes because there's 2 roads to cross or they run along the edge or they cut through the trees from one road to the next and never go into that corner close to the junction (but just far enough away).

I only ever lost 2 tents and one was to a 'friend' who knew where it was.

So that's pure blind stupid luck and you young player's should never do anything like that. I'm telling you this sad tale so you'll know better, and play clean, and keep to the edges of the map. Also never put a stash in a quiet town/village place like where there's no loot back in a corner behind a shed, because it could stay there for months and you'll forget where it is.

Trust your Beginner's Instinct - Zombo's just joking ya, that's all ...

xx

And hey, in your stash you need:

- Food - Water - an Axe - Bandages - a Knife

and maybe something rainproof

Why do I keep finding 3 tents or 2 trucks or 5 tents full of AKs and a zillion rounds of ammo? what's that for ? I can't do anything with that sh-t.
