    Fighting back

DayZ SA feels very chaotic and hostile, until you join a group or clan. If everything feels overwhelming, I highly recommend joining a server's teamspeak, or skype with some other players. When you're part of a team playing together with your own goals and relations, it makes everything a lot clearer and less frustrating.

Can someone Explain this to me

I think you're saying: "The Cherno from Exile was put into Standalone [no it wasn't], but .60 changed it again." [it changed from .59's Cherno, not from a Cherno in another game's mod] DayZ SA is a base game, not a mod. SA stands for "Stand Alone", because it is a "Stand Alone" game, not a mod. The game is in alpha state, which is one reason for bugs. Another reason for the bugs you're talking about is because .60 is in the experimental branch of servers. If you're playing the .60 version, you are playing an unstable version. The game will not be moddable until it is complete. Exile is a mod for Arma 3. DayZ SA is not a mod. DayZ SA cannot be modded at the moment.

Mouse4 or Mouse 5 wont work

What are you trying to set them for? I've found that several actions can't be assigned to extra mouse buttons, for whatever reason. [etc, you can't set vault to a mouse button]
  4. You do realize [I'm assuming you're saying this in regards to the stable branch] , that there are dozens of different servers, some already with their own established rules? I can see if you're trying to say "in general, we should do this.". But as you can see from the other replies, yeah, this has been a thing for a long time. Without owning your own server, you can't expect to change anything by just declaring it here. And even if you have your own server, and declare a rule, it doesn't mean anyone will follow it, without admins being there to police it. The best you can do is observe how the community as a whole generally reacts in certain zones. I made a big long list of my personal observations below. These are just how i think of them, and it all could be totally inaccurate. EDIT: (Sigh) I havn't been on the forums since they've switched them over, and honestly have no idea what I'm doing. Did the spoiler come out readable to anyone? How/can you even preview posts anymore?
  5. Me and my brother set up camps and stock them, so that we can switch between playstyles/types of gear, depending on our mood. If we die during a particular playstyle, we don't have to loot again to get geared up. [Die being friendly: go get the mil gear. Had enough deathmatching: go get the survivor gear.] Also, we really like just... having a camp. It's swell and rewarding after a day of looting to come home to a cozy camp, where we have everything we need. And it gives you something to do, a responsibility: "Hey, we need to get more food/medicine, do we go hunting or looting?" And security: "Hey, we want to go be goofy on the coast, drop the all guns and good stuff, just bring the pistols in case."

Waiting for stable and what to do

Yeah, but, like so much money... Yes though, somewhere down the line I will, defiantly. Are you trying to give me goddamn nightmares or something? Jeez.

    Stable Branch - 0.58 Discussion

Hah, yeah. People have realized how little they have to lose as bambies. Plus, an bambie might be able to snag someone else's decent gear if they get lucky. Bambies are basically some higher functioning form of Infected now.

    Stable Branch - 0.58 Discussion

How I feel about char. wipe + .57 being finally over:

    Old adversaries, new friends

Just got over a PVP feud. Going to Kamy in late .57 (I'm guessing it's .57), and trying to be friendly.Sir, SIR. I'm very sorry, but those are contradictions. Kamy has been a relatively popular spot for PVP as of late [in late .57]. Regardless, you've managed to not only commit to, but channel the spirit of "friendly" in an all-compassing aura of sorts. It was awesome how many potential friendly players just showed up out of the blue, initially. Like the fucking Wizard of Oz, all the munchkins just crawl out of the woodwork after the wicked witch gets squashed/leaves. I also love that the decently bilingual German guy, right after the shots fly in, just goes full on German. For some reason I got a good giggle out of that.
  10. I know everyone complained about the zombies spawning a few minutes after you killed them in earlier patches (I never noticed this significantly in previous versions, but that's just me) I kinda hope they bring that level of respawn back. Zombies seem so important now, everyone wants them badly. I believe the idea is that it's a pain in the ass when you killed one, hang around the area for a bit, and another one launches onto you out of seemingly nowhere. They've increased the zombies by about a hundred or more since the last several patches [that's barely significant, considering it went from 1100 to 1240]. But they also allocated their total spawn numbers to more bigger cities. But letting them respawn like they did before might make people a little more happy... or just lead to more complaints. I for one am down for it. It'll be annoying, but so will them being a "viable threat". It'll be just as annoying.

    Anyone ever 'played zombie'?

I might be imagining it, but I swear I remember early on that the devs said that when you get hurt by zombies and get an infection, that if you succumbed to the infection, that you'd have a chance of turning into a zombie. I doubt they'd actually allow you control of your character after that, they'd most likely replace your guy with a generic zombie after you respawned. That was probably just a concept. At worst, you should be able to count on it for a mod. [That's a great thing to look forward to in an alpha: eventual potential mods... Sorry] I didn't play Left for Dead, besides on the console. And I only played the actual Human VS Zombie multiplayer a few times. So maybe that was a thing in the PC version with mods or something. But I remember in Resident Evil: Outbreak, if your character died, they'd come back as a zombie at some point and confront the surviving players in the server. And that was a PS2 game, so the idea is not out of the question. Imagine when zombies are an actual threat, and your geared friend dies at the hands of zombies. And you can't get his gear off him and have to retreat. And then you return a bit later, and you see a zombie version of your friend stumbling around, all the good sweet gear still on him. "If I can just kill my zombie-friend and take his stuff... Jesus, what's wrong with me?"

    Agriculture

Farming/making your own food, is technically basic survival. If you want a less technical reason: During one of the patches, (I believe it was early .55), loot of ANY kind was extremely scarce. I died 3 time in a row during the course of several hours, because I couldn't find food. [NOTE: I HAD chose at the time to hover around the coast. I most likely would have been okay if I had decided to head west/north, and that's only if i got lucky on my route.] I went from Kamy to Cherno, and back to Berenzino, and died 3 times on my days adventure. I kept stuffing whatever I could find of value [including seeds, extra water, and fertilizer] in a tent outside Cherno, until I was on my 3rd guy, and had enough to move on. Got up to Berenzino, made a farm [berenzino was almost completely empty], and even shared food with a bambie. The next player screwed me over in a zombie ambush, and took my backpack full of seeds, water, and fertilizer when I died. So I was left to bitterly crunch down on what food I had grown in my little garden. With the loss of fertilizer and water containers, I called it quits at the time. Another session after that, I had to make an emergency farm in Cherno, just to keep my decently geared guy alive. Farming: it's a survival thing. It's very human.

    How tall is the character?

The way you wrote before about the haystack was very vague: Which heli crash? What haystack? There are many haystacks, and many heli crashes. Also, the heli crashes are dynamic, as in, they are supposed to spawn in a different spot each time the server restarts. So someone would have to know every potential location for a heli crash, to even guess at what haystack you might be referring to. I thought the vagueness of the question was funny. "Why don't we use were?" If you're talking about when I said, I chose to use "what he was talking about", instead of "what we were talking about", since he was adressing you directly on a matter we weren't discussion. [Also, that was a mistake on my part: he was referring to your concern that 3rd person might not be an option in the future] Hopefully that clears that up.

    DayZ Vehicles (first implementation)

The thread has been hovering near the top and the front of the Announcements and Information section. It's been so for awhile, due to the desire for any new info on vehicles. Yes, there are better places to find that info, but people are going to check this thread out eventually. I have still been checking this thread out myself in my info searches, just in case someone mentions something interesting or new here. Other people are also going to come across this thread and read it, regardless of its age. And I at least wanted to provide a reasonable explanation to that specific question. People are going to notice those commands in the control menu, because it's kind of a mess at the moment, and they'll most likely be confused for the reason for those options if they haven't played Arma 2 or 3, or aren't used to a game in an alpha state, particularly one that has carried many of its assets over from a previous engine.

Waiting for stable and what to do

My new mon-to-friday 40 hours a week job is a perfect distraction. ...well, actually it really sucks right now, I'm not used to 40 hours a week. And for now, it also leaves me only 2 days of the week where I can really do my typical half-day-playing sessions. But it's going to pay for an actually decent computer, for the first time in my life. And I'm also going to pick up a TrackIR 5. And when you're working 7 to 11 hours a day, going home to bed, and waking up at 4 or 5 to do it again, time really flies!
