How many people use Experimental to actually test and report bugs

Recommended Posts

It seems consistent that alot of the player base carry over their style of play from stable, and stick to it the entire patch without variations.

In my opinion, teamwork and exploring new mechanics are what experimental should be. The entire "alpha" phase is supposed to be testing, I get it, but the experimental branches should especially be played in a way to discover new bugs. I've found and reported 2 new bugs recently just by going "out of the norm" of my gameplay.

That brings up another question. How many people actually report the bugs they find? Or do you just continue on assuming someone else has or will without confirming?

If no, what's the reason? Is the process to lengthy?

I report anything I deem wouldn't be super common, because if so, someone else probably reported it, or the devs would notice fairly quickly anyways.

@OP...

Would you please use the Exp Topic for your questions and comments concerning Exp builds.

You can find your content by opening your profile and browsing the My Content tab.

I see you are looking for something...

Bugs are filed under version N° I believe, however many are set to private to avoid exploitation.

I do this - but mainly because exploring is actually the main thing I do in DayZ regardless of version. When playing with friends I actually prefer stable because it has more servers and is... well, more stable.

Now currently many downsides to playing experimental don't really come into play. Overall performance is reasonably bad on stable and frequent wipes don't really do that much when persistence and loot spawning is not working properly. In terms of character wipes it's actually better as stable is run over by overgeared survivors after some time thanks to server hopping and said unfinished loot spawning mechanics.

If I find a bug (or questionable design choice) I usually either report it or go to the feedback tracker to vote up the issue. The only thing I often overlook are object placement bugs mainly out of laziness - there are so many and they are easily visible to the dev team as well while reporting them is a little more difficult as you need to report their location as well. Though reporting bugs is not limited to experimental for me.

I play experimental because people are much nicer there than in stable.

i play on experimental mainly, people are generally more relaxed and friendly, you don't have so many groups killing everything they come across,

and if i find a bug i actually report it on the bugtracker, you could call it a hobby or curiosity i guess^^

since everyone of my group who i used to play with has given up on DayZ, lonewolfing is the most exciting thing and posing a challenge,

instead of serving you "progress" on a silver plate like so many other games
