I decided to ditch the AKM and use a bow from now on. I swear to you it's not a trap (well not by me anyway, I would never be this obvious about it).

Not sure when the server will restart so hurry.

I understand how this comes across but I am not a bandit, and it's not a trap. Personally I would have taken the risk if I was a new spawn. There is also a good chance you spawn near mcta. Obviously by now someone could have placed a mine or bear trap (do they work in .57?). But it's a low pop server, all the time I was there I was usually alone or with one other player. Still no restart so the stuff should still be there, if it was not taken by one of those other players.

 

Edit: well nevermind, I took it all back again because the improvised bow is less than ideal, aiming seems way off, maybe if I would have practiced more I would have gotten used to it. Will wait untill the recurve bow is in the game. I hope we can use crafted arrows with it and not just the reh\gular ones you sometimes find.

 

I thought I could be doing someone a favour with the AKM but I guess there is no more trust in this game after so many KOS'sers and bandits. Lesson learned :)

I tried using the bow before. I practiced with it for awhile, I was taking out zombies with relative ease.
Was escorting a player around, who suspiciously wasn't talking on his mic or texting. He tried to axe me when I turned my back in a house, and I thought it was going to be the perfect time to exercise my bow skills.

I couldn't hit him for shit. Not one shot out of almost two stacks of arrows ever hit him.
Players move way too fast and jerky, especially if you get lower FPS than normal, like me.

The Imp bow is neat, but you need to practice for a long long time before seriously using it.
Carry a backup sub-machine gun or pistol while training.

It is amusing that improvised stuff is harder to get/make than real counterparts.

It's not really the point of getting the best weapon available but about learning about the game, testing stuff and so on. The reason I ditched the bow again is because I felt I didn't stand a chance in PVP. Once there is more to do in the game in the outback I will be certain to use a bow again and use it mostly on animals and I will be happy if I hardly ever go to a town again. As it is now you have to be around populated areas for "entertainment" and the bow just won't do. Well, not in my hands anyway.

Yea. I've spent several hours using the improvised bow along with basic arrows and bone arrows. Mostly hunting animals. Long story short, it sucks.

Oh I'am aware, believe me. I've gone through literally a dozen characters wielding AKM and AKs since .57. I currently have five different private hives of fully geared guys, as well as my public.
